I am in that clip I'm Echo The Klergsman lol. I sat there listening to this kid scream about a vr headset. the dude recording told the kid that he didn't have a gaming pc or somthing like that I forget lol.
A lot of kids the I meet in vrc are relatively chill, they have times as to where they'll ya'know, act like kids and they're just having fun and enjoying themselves, and as a kid myself, it feels so nice for people just to talk to you and treat you like an equal and not yell at you for being a kid, heck I've met some adults who act like a child more than I do! In the end, kids are trying to have fun, so let them have fun!
Honestly speaking, the squeakers from my experience had always been more fun to hang out with than people my age. I really wish I was kidding, I've met more people in their mid 20's to late 30's that act like total cavemen than I had squeakers being loud and annoying. More often than not, they fear confrontation with their lives unless they're in a group; when they're by themselves, they do the classic "go up to your face, talk shit then run like they're getting chased by an emu" technique whereas a squeaker stands his ground and gets louder which isn't nearly as pathetic as the former.
My sister in law asked if she should get a quest 2 for my 12 year old nephew. I told her that if she does, it would require supervision while she plays. Since there are a lot of things that are not meant for someone of her age, VRchat wouldn't be a good environment for her. I know of the great things that Vrchat offers, but it comes to a point where someone should be mature enough to discern them.
as someone who has a relatively deep voice for a 16 year old who plays vrchat regularly, most people think im 19-20 so people don't avoid me because of that. But we were all little kids at one point in time. I think the we should just let them be kids and not shame them for being immature. Little kids are little kids, and they do stupid things sometimes. If you don't want to hear a little kid, there was a block button made for a reason. But seeing little kids angry is really funny sometimes I have to admit
I'm fine with kids being annoying but I'm not fine with them seeing things that aren't appropriate for their age and people saying some very rude things to them.
@@BlooperStupid yea playing games with little kids is really fun. It almost like playing with a little sibling, even if you don't have one. Even I enjoy showing kids who are visitors around the game
@@Sam-gf1eb yea I agree, I think the vrchat devs should implement i similar system to rec room jr accounts. But not has harsh, they should still be able to talk and hear others. For example, anyone under 13 (should maybe be higher) has all avatars replaced by the vrchat premade avatars, this way kids can still see avatars but they won't see possibly inappropriate ones.
The amount of times I’ve said “do your parents know you’re playing this game and what goes on in this game” to kids running around screaming slurs is pretty high lmao
Honestly at this point it falls on the parents, the culture of vrchat has so many aspects that kids shouldn’t be apart of, but every way I can think of to separate these kids from the abundance of adult content is a nightmare. Rarely will I argue personal responsibility is the solution but if you can’t keep your kids away from freaks on the internet cause you don’t care, it’s your fault for but putting in any effort
I feel like ChilloutVR has this mostly solved. To enable adult content you have to pay for a DLC which unlocks it. This makes it easy for parents to know if they have access as well.
As much as i personally dislike kids in vrchat and find a huge amount of them to be annoying and extremely loud, i find myself actually blocking way more "adults" because of their rudness and desire to be an edgy memer, and i think its because they are an adult but still act as if they were 12 leads me to blocking them immediately. I expect kids to be kids, but not grown men and women to act like immature children. Just the other day was in the spider lair and actually got in to an interesting conversation with a 14 year old and a 16 year old about vr tech and other random stuff, but during that conversation i ended up blocking 4 or 5 people that were clearly in their 20s that invaded our convo with racial slurs, insults, shitty music blasting, etc. Not to say kids dont ever do this, but i actually find most kids are just trying to have fun, while alot of "adults" are trying to get reactions from people. Yes i would prefer to primarily interact with people my age(27), but i rather have a fun convo with someone younger then get called all types of names and slurs by a grown man. Its definitely a tough question to answer, but with what ive experienced over the last 4.5 years, people are people and the block button is a powerful tool to remove anyone you dont wish to interact with, whether young or old . Sidenote: someone in that same spider lair lobby criticized me for blocking said people, saying thats not how social interaction works, and my response to this was, this is vrchat and i will block anyone i dont want to interact with, you dont have to block them, but i dont wish to be called names by random people while im talking to someone, and thats what i choose to do to have the experience i want to have. K long comment over XD
I've experienced both sides of this (sort of). When I was 13 and still had a very high voice I had a really bad experience with VRChat. I wasn't getting bullied that often, but I was ignored almost constantly by any older guy that I tried to talk to. It was really off-putting for me, especially because I was never bothering anyone or being annoying, I just wanted to socialize with people and have some fun conversations. Eventually I stopped playing because of it. I came back just after I turned 15 and my voice had changed drastically. My experience was wayyy better after my voice changed, people were more inviting and I wasn't getting picked on in every world I went to. One time I went to a world that lets you fly planes and I met a kid (probably 12-13 years old) and chatted with him for a bit. He did have some of the "immature internet 12 year old" stereotypes but he wasn't annoying at all. I started telling him about my past experiences on VRChat and he said he's been having the same thing. I didn't friend request him and felt kind of bad about it but we didn't really have anything in common besides being bullied on VRChat so I just let it go. Honestly, I don't think there's such thing as a perfect solution for this, but the best thing I can come up with is some sort of maturity ranking, or linking the trust ranking to one's maturity (as voted by other people).
Vrchat definitely depends on the kid’s maturity, I have been playing since 2018 when I was 11 years old, I’m now 15 and I’ve met some amazing friends. I even visited one of them with my mom with me. We got Korean BBQ together. When I first played I got blocked because of my age or was harassed because being a girl in vrchat back then was like seeing pigs fly. In early 2019, I’ve decided do go mute for the rest of the time I played because it got so bad that I was scared to talk to anyone because I might get rejected and ostracized by everyone. Out of my observation of the 4+ years I’ve played Vrchat, I mostly see the adults that are immature, maybe because they know they won’t get judged as often as they would irl, I’m not sure. My advice for the kids that play Vrchat or are new to the game, do not be a nuisance to other players, don’t be trolls, STOP SAYING RACIAL SLURS, and stay away from child predators. Look alive kids, you will be exposed to toxic, ostracization, and loadssssssss of nudity if not careful.
I've seen kids literally run around in NSFW avatars. That's the grossest thing, and what's even more frightening is how easily they are exposed to this kind of content. And then force it for others to view. Once in a while, you find the cute wholesome kid just trying to make friends and enjoy the game. And often times if you shows them kindness, they'll go from troll to being nice. However, their maturity level is nowhere near enough for this game. I'm not against kids having their own space, but vrchat at its current state is just not ready for it. It should be 18+ unless we can get an actual system for age verification. 90% of the time my interactions with kids have been pretty negative and toxic towards me. Spoiled little brats growing up to be our next generation homophobes and racist people.
i can promise you not all are homophobic and racist. irl a lot of people might be less homophobic than you think though i do know one very annoying spoiled brat in my class. also why do they run around in NSFW avatars............. honestly all need therapy
Same with the first three sentences. One of the kids I've met tends to have an NSFW status (it's occasionally something like "BIG BOOBA!!" or smthn similar) and then constantly wear FNIA avatars. They also constantly talk about sex, which is really concerning... And I'll be honest, content restrictions (adding certain trigger warnings in Unity before uploading) when uploading avatars and worlds does absolutely nothing from what I've seen. It just leaves a small warning on the site's page. I really suggest adding a little keypad in world's to keep kids out of em. As well as monitoring your kid's activity weekly or every now and then. Make sure users they're friends with are at least around their age range, and if they're almost adults interacting with them, ask them to screen share their experience! Sorry if this sounds kinda strict, just wanna keep the little dudes safe, y'know?
I try to treat kids with respect and talk to them as I would anyone else because I always hated being treated like a kid when I was that age. I was one of those kids who was generally more mature than many my own age in some respects and so I know what it’s like to have people think you’re just some dumb kid when you actually are able to have decently educated conversations with people decades older than you. Now that I’m 22, I still get some stigma because I still look 17 or 18 plus people just view me as a young adult, not as an adult. Yes I still have learning to do from experience, as do these kids, but that doesn’t mean I’m not willing to be taught by those who do have more life experience than me. I’ve been able to give good advice to my VRC friends who are a few years younger than me because I have more life experience than they do and also know where they’re coming from because I was there myself just a handful of years ago.
i agree on the "can play but needs supervison" cause its a great space to gain social experiences while also being safe from like physical harm and they have the ability to block people who are toxic towards them. i started playing vrc at 17 and even ive learned alot of social shit over the last 3 years of playing so if i can learn they can learn! plus kids might grow up with an interest in vr and persue that when they are older and could progress the VR world!
Its insane VRChat allows kids to be on VRChat in the first place, the things that going on are not at all fitted for kids, Rec Room would be the right place to send the kids to but they for some reason did what VRChat should have done
Great vid! With my experience most of the kids I come across in vr chat seem to be toxic. Always up in your face and screaming in the mic. I've only met a hand full of kids in vr chat that wasn't toxic. Some parent's just don't care what their kids do just has long as they are not bugging them and that's just sad. I have 2 kids of my own and they both have VR and on VR Chat but they are only allowed in private worlds with family and selective friends. I'm also in that world keeping an eye on things. Half of my family are from Japan so we use VR Chat to help stay in touch easier.
literally a daycare on this game sometimes; ill entertain them if theyre not too young, racist or being chaotic.. even still its just weird talking to people half my age, love your content.. been looking forward to another video :) ok also 1:33 was absolutely insane.
If they are being normal, treat them like you would treat your friends child. If they are being really annoying or disruptive, just block them. Iv had some fun convos with some kids, it can be fun. It can make you feel like a more responsible and mature adult when your being nice to little kids in vrc. Just be nice y’all, and also, watch out for yourself when it comes to your happiness.
Though I'm not really "a child" who plays vrc, my dad still worries about who I communicate with in the game. If I ever play he'll have to sit in the living room with me so he can hear who I'm talking to, or he wants me to screenshare my headset. And I honestly don't mind! He's just looking out for my safety. Tbh, I wish some parents would do the same with their kids. I feel as if they should at least try to overhear their conversations and check who they have friended now and then. Make sure the users are around their age, y'know?
@@waltuh4716 are you stupid? Their parents are not strict at all if they were strict they would never even allow them to even have VR chat at all.. but they do all they doing is watching over them all parents should be like this with children.
Honestly, it's funny, kids are the ones who openly interact with others or will start a convo and other adults I meet are closed off or just straight up ignore you, or sit at a mirror and ignore everyone else for 30 min lmao I think we adults need to take note and be more open!
Yeah Sometimes i wish i could be as open as them, but i was always closed off I have about 2 months left if being a kid and i will turn into an adult in february when its my 18th birthday
I actually met a nice little fellow in no time to talk. We talked about school and life then games and added each other to go harass guards in prison escape. It's sad that there aren't many like him in this game.
just started Playing VRChat and I'm getting more and more scared with every video i see on this channel. but at the same time i realy want to be part of the VRChat Comunity Thank you For many of Your Videos, Twice. Im watching at least 5 per day at the moment and I still can't get enough.
The only problem I have is when they're over there cussing, tossing slurs around, and screaming at the top of their lungs. Insta-mute / block. Obviously VRchat is a place kids should not be because of the content that can be found most places and this includes the kind of people that they're likely to run into. What blows my mind are the parents that somehow let this happen. Like you're really not hearing your child from the other room screaming at the top of their lungs or going around repeating every inappropriate thing they've heard? Really?
due to you i have really wanted to go out and interview people and see what they have winin vrchat to be able to get a good idea of how 2 people that dont know each other could have a lot of the same experience winin vrchat. thanks twice :)
As a 11 year old on VR chat. This has improved my social skills and my depression. It’s really nice to sit down on a chair and get on VR chat and be social because I don’t like going out my house.
Tried VR chat for the first time last night and I am put off. The amount of kids in every world just forced me out and back onto Contractors. I was looking for something relaxing as an alternative to shoot em ups after work. This was not it. Felt more like I was in a daycare than a social space.
Ya, dude through the pandemic we would always play in private worlds, cas that's the first thing me and irl friends would noticed, which was a big turn off! Try, NeosVr It's not got quest support and is pc only so a it helps solve the daycare problem that makes vrc off putting for a lot of people. Neos has a learning curve but god, so much you can do. Neos = cartoon/Gmod vibes VRC = try's Anime vibes just to much ROBLOX energy for me.
Typically most adults avoid public worlds. 99% of the time I am on friends + the daycare aspect is way too much. A thing I found that lowers the kid amount a lot is PC only worlds. The quest world are just daycare villas and a complete clusterfuck of an experience.
I've met a lot of younger kids in VRC. Some of them have been cool and respectful. BUT there is a lot who are far too young to play the game, whether it be maturity or how they might be disrespectful. Met a poor kid who was in a drinking world recently and he was scared after his "friends" left him. Sounded like he was 10 honestly. There needs to be something done to determine these things for the adults to be on the mature worlds, and the kids to not have access.
Edit: Also saw the worse sides of thing several times. Was in a club world when a kid came up to my friend and got his attention. That kid then stated that they would "give my friend oral" if he "sent thigh pics". Never hit the block and kick button so fast in my life!
As someone who often visits the FNAF and Hazbin worlds I can say dealing with kids in VRC is a mixed bag. My main course of action is to just talk with them and if they are rude or too loud I just lower their volume and move on with my day. If they are being toxic then I just ignore them with their volume either muted or at 5% depending on how I feel.
I once met a 16 year old that had more of a sense of purpose and wisdom within them than most 20+ year olds I've met in clubs and drinking worlds. While many are simply annoying, there's a prodigy or two in there. The next Doctor. The next inde music creator. I think if you're mature and patient enough to foster that seed in someone and protect them from the pitfalls of vrc, it can be rewarding. Like being a big brother, or sister.
On a somewhat-unrelated note, I started playing among us vr today and I expected there to be young children everywhere, along with toxic people, but I actually only encountered a couple children and one toxic person. Had a ton of fun playing today with among us vr and the player base was mostly friendly. Hope it stays that way.
i remember when my sister (Shes a kid) got a oculus quest 2 (this was in 2020) she used to use mine but in her b-day on 2020 got her own she joined worlds then talked and people insulted her, she felt hurt and decided not to talk for a while, then she decided to talk but only do a impression of a Pikachu (dont ask me why Pikachu but she was very good at the impression). until one day she decided to talk but in a loli voice and she got more friends and went and got into like 3 online family's. until last year on june she got her vocal cords horribly hurt and she couldnt talk for about a month so she went mute and then when she got her voice back she talked with her real voice, and for some reason she made more friends that way, she told me this right after she got her voice back. she also said "all i want to say is that if your a kid and your annoying, people will probably insult you and be toxic but if they are not annoying and are just overall funny, you probably wont get things like "shut up and go watch coco melon" or "get off this game" cause you wont piss a person off." i learned this from my sister and how she changed how she acted-. i kinda get my sister but on what she said is shes not trying to say you should change how you act but don't annoy everyone and you wont get that much insults (in this game i dont know about any other). i actually meant a 6 year old in vrchat- (i know wtf but in this situation you should kind of say to them that they should NOT be in this game in a polite way, i dont know how they got a headset but they got in trouble by someone before i could say to get off the game to the kid). i still agree with people, if your underage you shouldnt be on vrchat, gr00mers could be there and thats why theyre is a age you need to be to be abke to play vrchat. Thank you for anyone who read this comment :)
In my opinion, VRChat just needs to actually use their content tags for filtering. Avatar and world creators are already expected to mark avatars as NSFW, having excessive gore, etc, but the game never does anything with it. What they should really do is outright refuse to allow avatars with certain tags to be used in public worlds, forcibly switching users to other avatars, and hiding avatars with those tags for other users on the off chance that some bug or hack allows people to load into them anyways. The system should also be expanded to add in other tags, and allow users above certain age limits to enable or disable different tags as filters depending on whether or not they want to be able to see those kinds of avatars. Actually, ChilloutVR already has this kind of a system implemented, and it even allows people to tag individual parts of avatars so the whole avatar doesn't have to be blocked, and instead portions can just be disabled. Of course, this all hinges on creators marking avatars properly, which means they would need to be held accountable to tag avatars properly through reporting. This doesn't fix the issue of the actual people, but it at least fixes the issues with avatars. As for verifying age, they could do what other companies have been required to do by COPPA and confirm your age with ID for anyone who self reports to be over 18 to try and eliminate people faking their age
Same with the teens too, some actually get treated well but once they know the persons age, some will start shitting on them for just their age. Can get annoying for them, but I just cannot imagine the kids and how they go through all of this stuff.
All I can say, as someone under 13, thanks man, I’m sick and tired of people being toxic, annoying, or just flat out being immature just for me being a little younger, I’m glad there’s people like you and your friends who are chill with kids being in vrc.
I've been watching you for a few months now, and when I noticed that you only have 50k subscribers, I was very surprised! You are a very under rated TH-camr.
So far i have only seen the "bad" side of kids in VrChat. I have in the past had basically every stereotypical thing that comes to mind happen, from micspamming, general missbaviour, to racist stuff, to homophobia/transphobia and all that from kids who got access to VRChat through their parents or something similar. Now i am not the guy who gets angry at this type of thing,i usually stay calm and in 90% of cases don´t talk to them. Because of this i have been adovcating deviding the game into an adult and a kids section, and even tho that idea has a variety of flaws and issues i know of, saftey for the kids and peace of mind for the adults was allways my argumentation regarding the idea.
VR chat is like the mall, or downtown... if your kid isn't old enough to walk around a city alone, they aren't old enough to be in VR alone. That's pretty simple. Even if it was made for kids... they would need adult supervision. You don't just let kids go to an inner-city playground without an adult responsible for them for hours on end. There are strangers there!!!! But ultimately, this is up to the parents. What kind of parent lets their kids on this place?
I got into vrchat when I just turned vrchat, I have seen some really weird kids over the years and it’s a real problem, but when your friend talked about mature children it really made me think. I always hung around with older people and used to get a lot of compliments that I was so mature compared to the other kids screaming around.
I do a sonic the hedgehog impression, and sometimes I just like going to places like McDonald’s as sonic and seeing how the kids react. Sometimes it’s wholesome and sometimes I get swarmed by screaming children saying weird shit. But either way its fun to do here and there.
It's the way that people treat kids in Vrchat that's making me really consider just leaving it for good, even though it's fun. I'm not a socially anxious person irl, I can go up to a random person and have a really nice conversation, but boy, is that not the case in Vrchat. This is because people seem to change their demeanor when around me, even from me just offering a simple hello. I might be confident one day (which is rare) and go up to a group of people having fun, but when i say something, it feels like I'm a pest to them and that they're just trying to not include me so that i go away. It works. Now, I know what some might say: "Well, you might just be annoying." I dont want to be arrogant or self-righteous, but im not unless i try. All of my friends have said that im not an annoying person and that im really chill, and i never try to deliberately get into trouble or annoy somebody unless its my friend, so I really dont know what these peoples' problems are. Like i said, i experience injustice daily as a kid on Vrchat, and i think that it is really unfair that i am unable to make friends on a game that is entirely based on socialization. Until then, I'll just have to hope that my voice deepens soon. Puberty, do me justice...
I’m a child myself that plays vrchat, no I’m not some sort of troll or anything, I’m 14 and yet many people have said I am mature for a 14 year old (I truly do not understand what they mean, I’m just more mature in public than I am normally) and I also apparently sound like a “depressed college student” and I don’t know if that’s a compliment of an insult, cause on one hand I don’t sound like a child, but at the same time I don’t wanna sound depressed, and my age has been mistaken many times saying they thought I was 17-20, and earlier today someone said I sounded over the age of 20 and truly believes I’m 20 now even though I told him I’m 14 just assuming I’m some sort of predator, so that was fun lol, and sounding like this has also gotten people over the age of 18 to try and say some very strange things and stuff, so either before they continue saying these things they check my bio and realize I’m 14, or I just look them in the eyes and say “I personally wouldn’t say this to a 14 year old.. you should probably stop now” and most of the time they run away, so that’s usually fun, but I feel like the whole 18+ worlds and minor roles would be neat as long as they don’t affect the ranks and create a whole new rank system, I would gladly mark myself as my age if that did become a thing, the only problem is judging by the whole anti cheat thing I doubt vrchat is really listening to any of our suggestions anymore if they were to begin with.
Having kids in vrchat is a love hate thing for me. Some of the funniest things I've seen on the app is by kids, but I feel the cons outweigh the funny.
I've only be playing vrchat for a bit less then a year but the amount of unruly children I meet is crazy. I typically don't speak in the game until I have made sure that the group I'm playing with is okay. I tend to wear more masculine avatars but have a feminine voice as I am a pre-T trans man. It's typically the younger players I see just blasting music or having avatars that could crash other or have nsfw options. I've been harassed for having a furry avatar many times. It's almost always younger players. There's nothing wrong with children playing the game but it needs to be monitored.
Ive played on mainly recroom with friends and when I spot younger kids theyre adorable and I always make sure nobody is being mean to them and make sure they are safe. If you make it a safe space it can be enjoyable for everyone. (Im 15 but that for me is acting more like a adult then most adults who bully actual children)
I started vrchat at 12, almost 13. I considered myself “mature” sure I was slightly but still, child. At that time I just joined worlds and listened to ppls drama and loved looking at avatars.
It's kinda funny how accurate is about mature kids. Literally, almost all Teens annoys and do harassment into others peoples, even death treat or trolls. But there's so tiny percent that kids below of 15 are actually like good boys, a friendly conversation about character videos games and cool mini-game places!
The main reason I play Rec Room is because I don’t have a computer powerful enough to run VRChat Desktop or anything other devices that support VRChat. When I upgrade my PC I may buy a new VR headset and migrate from PSVR to PC, and I may start playing VRChat again.
You got the age is just a number You got the ones that ignore the age openly You got the ones telling kids to lie about their age then you got the ones acting like the victim only after they get called out
there was a 10 y/o in vrchat that saw me as a brother and her perants found out that she was hanging around with older ppl. and when she told me she cant play vrchat anymore. i heard she was sad about that. and that kinda gave me tears
I don’t play VRChat much anymore, because people were so unwelcoming to kids, I would talk, and be blocked or yelled at, I stopped talking and developed bad social anxiety, I ended up just using sign language to talk to people, because I was to afraid to talk. I didn’t even have a reason to use my trackers anymore, because people would just look at me and think I’m a spoiled brat, when in reality I worked hard for this, like this kid: 1:12
I'm very sorry about that... Some people in VRC can be absolute pricks. Especially other kids. I really suggest sticking to private worlds when you first download the game instead of going right into a public one.
Nah, this is 100% the PARENTS responsibility for their kids and what they view. There are SO many ways to lock apps now days on ANY device. Parents just don't take the time to see what their child is doing online anymore. That's the sad reality. In my honest opinion, VRChat is NOT for kids, but that's because of user generated content. If there was a way to manage worlds and put an age blocker on them, it would help A LITTLE. Most kids lie when signing up for services. But some don't. The really shitty thing is I've experienced first hand adults creeping on kids, trying to get them to drink, do drugs, etc. This is why the club scene in VRChat is VERY strict about people being over 18. If there is even a WIFF of suspicion that someone is underage, we first ask them to leave, if they don't, then we kick them. The internet as a whole is a lot different from when I(28) grew up. It's a lot more hostile in some ways, but there are so many safe guards for parents to block things. It's just not taken advantage of. In closing, I think both of the people you interviewed missed the mark on this one, horribly.
As someone that is young that has played VR Chat like 4 times people are not that aggressive towards young users which is extremely surprising and everyone is really nice. Though I still do believe that VRChat needs a Junior Account System, though it doesn’t work like Rec Room’s like where if someone makes a game they can either flag it as 18+ or 13+ and accounts that are under the age of 13/18 should be limited to certain games but should not restrict voice chat because like they said in the video it could help social skills and stuff. But yeah that is my take.
From my thoughts I think it depends on how mature the person and you could find that out by becoming friends with them or just seeing one in a public lobby, most of the time I rarely see kids on vrchat although they still exist I think they should be allowed with supervision from a guardian
Like, 2 years ago (So I was 12), I played without my mic on and just socializing using avatars that can display text. The one time I did use my mic, some dude thought I was around 14. But now that I'm around 14, some other person thought I was 11.
As a 14 year old who's pretty active on VRC, I haven't had much problem. I've just had benefits, like being less nervous to groups of people and such. For my age, my voice is deep so people don't comment anyway, and I think I'm rather mature.
Usely when I encounter a child in VR chat if I’m in character ( for example Foxy from fnaf) I play along and be nice. there’s even a 10 year old who really believes I’m foxy so I always have to stay in character. But I really don’t mind it because I like making children’s day and make them happy. And I usually try to set a good example as the character. (+ I’m 15)
I checked out Rec Room not long after getting my Quest 2 and wrote off VR social platforms for a couple of years before checking out VR Chat. Edit: I have put family as young as 5 in VR Chat, but only private instances. Even at 9 they aren't allowed unsupervised access to any screen time and I always cast their VR use to the TV to keep an eye on what they are up to. Mostly mini golf, beat saber and minecraft, although again only private instances.
TBH, I agree with the maturity part of kids playing on VRCHAT. As I am a minor who plays on vrchat but, I feel like there should be a vote kick system in every VRCHAT game (like recroom) let’s a say this, a child joins a world in VRCHAT that is meant for 18+ users. If those users in that room are 18+ they should probably be able to detect the child (probably by their voice or the child says they are under 18) and Vote kick the child off of the game for 24 hours. That’s my personal take on it. I just simply stay away from places that are only for 18+ users.
i see alot of kids in vrchat thinking theyre “cool” in someway just to get attention i was like that before but i learned from that and started to talk to people on the internet normally
I am a massive hugger, and a Tigerbee in vrc, but anyways, I love to go around and hug people, one time i was hugging someone, some little dipsh-t went “eeww the furries are kissing”, funny thing was that i deliberately avoid kissing, so it didn’t even look like that, anyways that’s a short little story for y’all, good day!
i know im gonna sound like a shill or a bot for vouching for the sponsor here, but the kiwi design headstraps are legit, don't pass them up because you don't trust youtube sponsorships, i've had the original basic headstrap for half a year and it's the best one i've ever had and im thinking about picking up the audio strap
when I was a kid I was able to play vrc but one day came when I couldn't play vrc because my quest was glitching and I was crying for 2 days because of it then my parents banned vrc because they said I was turning into a different so I had my cousin rent it but my mom took the money to herself and sold it to him without asking me so I really fell an attachment to it now
As a parent, it is the parent's responsibility to monitor their kids, it's not VRC's responsibility. It's in the ToS what is and isn't allowed. If they find proof, they do ban underage kids, but it's difficult for them to have 100% ACTUAL proof that they are a kid. All that being said, a parent is suppose to check up on their kid, see what they are doing, and teach their kids the right and wrongs of the world.
Personally, i feel like the only way to solve this that makes pretty much everyone happy, is to age-gate certain content. I'd say to take a page out of, oddly enough, Sony's book. On the Playstation, when you input your age into an account upon creation, it locks you out of certain games and apps via parental controls, as well as preventing you from adding a payment method to that account to buy games, and sending an email to the parent's account when a purchase IS made, either through a giftcard or the wallet. When the user's age reaches 18, these parental locks are removed and the account is free to do whatever. Theoretically, VRChat could implement Parental Controls, preventing children from viewing avatars and worlds that are tagged as NSFW or Adult, and it uses the age you put in when you create your VRC account as a baseline, keeping track of it and removing those locks upon turning 18.
in the long run, some sort of age verification will propably be the only way to comply with international (especially EU) youth protection legislation.
why would you feel like that sounds like a personal issue

I'm 100% in favour of getting kids out of spaces with individuals 18 or older and here's why; Having seen two of my friends get railroaded by the legal system due to kids (first instance was a 13yr old posing as a 20yr old. Second instance was a 16yr old posing as 18) being in places and partaking in activities they shouldn't, is a glaring problem that no one seems to want to tackle. Seeing what happened to them, ngl, spooked the shit out of me and made me realize how damning being falsely accused can be, especially when it involves minors. For clarification, said minors were partaking in sexually suggestive activities which is what started this downward spiral. I don't know the exact details of what was done and/or said. My friends lives are forever ruined and backgrounds stained because the honour system was circumvented (as it always is in a lot of cases) and the law came down on them with the ferocity of a god. Meanwhile , the brats that caused this mess get no punishment whatsoever. It's disproportionate AF. And before anyone tries the argument that 'well, you can obviously hear in their voice that they're younger.' or 'just report them and disengage from them.' etc 1. Not all preteens physically mature the same. My brother and I sounded and looked a lot older than we were when we were 13 and we sort of grew into our voices and size. 2. All it takes is some self righteous Karen/Kevin parent to find out and raise hell by getting law involved and when they catch up to you, your life as you know if is over. Let's focus on #2: it's literally that easy. All it takes is an accusation for law to go full 'let's protect these poor, innocent children' mode, not question wtf a child was even doing with said person online. The law will railroad you and whoever your DA is, you can bet they will push hard to make the slew of charges stick. So yes, get them the f* out of 18+ places entirely and do not allow mixing. Second Life did this very thing years ago and, assuming the users were being honest about their age, worked decently well with keeping 18+ and underaged out of each other's spaces. It's largely why I won't interact with total strangers anymore in places like VRchat unless I know for sure they are 18+. As far as how to effectively get them out, that is quite the topic that can get pretty heated. But I think the elephant in the room that needs to be addressed first (in North America) are the current laws on the books surrounding minors. The laws are archaic at best and are not designed to effectively assess situations like this were children and adults can come in contact, without the parent knowing, so much easier than before. Sort out the outdated laws and actually punish minors who willingly circumvent the honour system and maybe things will start to improve.
"emotionaly scarring for kids" I think I would be more scarred if I had an interaction with a screaming child like that.

Yes
when a player in vrc is reported enough times they get the Nuisance rank witch hides there avatar and mutes them
@@thelocaloffender Agreed
As a kid in vr I just decide to be chill with people but then you get made fun witch doesn’t hurt me but it’s annoying so I just mute myself
It would be cool if she and her friends could meet up in their own private worlds.
as someone who has a relatively deep voice for a 16 year old who plays vrchat regularly, most people think im 19-20 so people don't avoid me because of that.
A lot of the kids on my friends list really just play with other kids into stuff like FNAF and FNF and it's pretty nice
Drama fights are hilarious but sometimes annoying

"What do you think I'm playing on right now?!?"
His parents bought it for him to, lol.
I agree with you. If your not being responsible and checking the content your child is watching or making, your just put your kid in bigger danger.
i'd just ban them from the internet, i grew up watching be heading videos
@@thatundeadlegacy2985 that is your parents fault for not checking what your doing, I did just fine on the internet growing up myself.
@randomspacefan lol XD
I feel 15 or 16+ plus would be fine
Most people I've met around that age are chill and genuinely sound and talk like they're older than me.
I’m 11 years old and most people say I’m mature for my age. I have had interactions with kids my age or a bit over and their behaviour disgust me.
something a lot of kids don't seem to understand is they put people around them in danger by just existing in the same space
Question, what if the children were mature?
i agree on the "can play but needs supervison" cause its a great space to gain social experiences while also being safe from like physical harm and they have the ability to block people who are toxic towards them. i started playing vrc at 17 and even ive learned alot of social shit over the last 3 years of playing so if i can learn they can learn! plus kids might grow up with an interest in vr and persue that when they are older and could progress the VR world!
Bruh that was the smoothest transition to a sponsor IVE SEEN!! Keep it up Twice!

He's just looking out for my safety.
Tbh, I wish some parents would do the same with their kids. I feel as if they should at least try to overhear their conversations and check who they have friended now and then. Make sure the users are around their age, y'know?

The only problem I have is when they're over there cussing, tossing slurs around, and screaming at the top of their lungs. Insta-mute / block.
Obviously VRchat is a place kids should not be because of the content that can be found most places and this includes the kind of people that they're likely to run into.
What blows my mind are the parents that somehow let this happen. Like you're really not hearing your child from the other room screaming at the top of their lungs or going around repeating every inappropriate thing they've heard? Really?

I remember last year I interacted with quite a few kids and even played a bunch of worlds with them because they were fun to play with
As a 11 year old on VR chat.
Fr everytime I go there I have to wonder how many kids are just being put into VR as a daycare. Parents too busy or too lazy to care. It's sad.
You might have to look for less popular worlds, the most popular ones have literally all types of people so you don’t know what you’re gonna get
Ya, dude through the pandemic we would always play in private worlds, cas that's the first thing me and irl friends would noticed, which was a big turn off!
JHyena is a level of chaotic people should aspire to
I once met a 16 year old that had more of a sense of purpose and wisdom within them than most 20+ year olds I've met in clubs and drinking worlds. While many are simply annoying, there's a prodigy or two in there. The next Doctor. The next inde music creator. I think if you're mature and patient enough to foster that seed in someone and protect them from the pitfalls of vrc, it can be rewarding. Like being a big brother, or sister.
16 is perfectly fine, a lot of countries would consider them adults anyways.
Kids in Vrchat is 13 years and below.

Im under 13 too, but everyone I met was chill, mostly because I chill in black cat giving people pancakes lol
I've been watching you for a few months now, and when I noticed that you only have 50k subscribers, I was very surprised! You are a very under rated TH-camr.

im 14 and i somehow passed the age verification in a bar game cuz of my voice
When I was at that age, things like this didn't make me mad and they still don't, it's only when it gets too personal
I got into vrchat when I just turned vrchat,
I have seen some really weird kids over the years and it’s a real problem, but when your friend talked about mature children it really made me think. I always hung around with older people and used to get a lot of compliments that I was so mature compared to the other kids screaming around.
Ah yes I remember when I first turned vrchat,,,,,
I do a sonic the hedgehog impression, and sometimes I just like going to places like McDonald’s as sonic and seeing how the kids react. Sometimes it’s wholesome and sometimes I get swarmed by screaming children saying weird shit. But either way its fun to do here and there.
I don't care if their parents gave them permission to go in VR. I hear a squeaker I'm leaving the lobby!
why leave when you can do what he suggest in the video and also you can play guardian
1:12 time stamp had me rolling my ass off 🤣🤣 I’m literally crying laughing that kid was a straight up gangster, what a Thug lol 😂
1:31 "It could be emotionaly scarring for kids" I got emotionaly scared by that
I've only be playing vrchat for a bit less then a year but the amount of unruly children I meet is crazy.
They should make a under 18 setting restricting these kids from NSFW avatars and places
Hell nah my interactions of kids just consists of them asking the same shit until you look at them or answer them.
That and I coherent screaming
4:10 Twice no no noh-
This is a much needed video that I’m glad to see.
The only reason i *WOULD* get bullied is for my high pitched voice
You got the age is just a number
You got the ones that ignore the age openly
You got the ones telling kids to lie about their age
then you got the ones acting like the victim only after they get called out
there was a 10 y/o in vrchat that saw me as a brother and her perants found out that she was hanging around with older ppl. and when she told me she cant play vrchat anymore. i heard she was sad about that. and that kinda gave me tears
1:11 i had someone say this to me though i didnt really care about it and just left the world because there was hardly any people there anyway
1:13 met that guy one time. Pretty cool, ngl he seemed chill
1:35 Oh my lord
Seeing kid at 1:30 get so angry was just so amusing
1:27 Everyone is laughing at the kid
Me: this guy didn't activate Windows🤣lazy
YO IM NOT EVEN LIEING I WAS THERE WHEN THAT MOONGAMING KID WAS YELLING I WAS FOXDESTROYER29 BEHIND U THAT KID WAS SO FUNNY
i see alot of kids in vrchat thinking theyre “cool” in someway just to get attention
i was like that before but i learned from that and started to talk to people on the internet normally
I wish for the option when creating an instance to make it pc-only even tho the world would support quest
I am a massive hugger, and a Tigerbee in vrc, but anyways, I love to go around and hug people, one time i was hugging someone, some little dipsh-t went “eeww the furries are kissing”, funny thing was that i deliberately avoid kissing, so it didn’t even look like that, anyways that’s a short little story for y’all, good day!
i know im gonna sound like a shill or a bot for vouching for the sponsor here, but the kiwi design headstraps are legit, don't pass them up because you don't trust youtube sponsorships, i've had the original basic headstrap for half a year and it's the best one i've ever had and im thinking about picking up the audio strap
babe wake up new twice video just dropped
when I was a kid I was able to play vrc but one day came when I couldn't play vrc because my quest was glitching and I was crying for 2 days because of it then my parents banned vrc because they said I was turning into a different so I had my cousin rent it but my mom took the money to herself and sold it to him without asking me so I really fell an attachment to it now
As a parent, it is the parent's responsibility to monitor their kids, it's not VRC's responsibility.
Theoretically, VRChat could implement Parental Controls, preventing children from viewing avatars and worlds that are tagged as NSFW or Adult, and it uses the age you put in when you create your VRC account as a baseline, keeping track of it and removing those locks upon turning 18.
recording that kid screaming. using it as a breakdown
in the long run, some sort of age verification will propably be the only way to comply with international (especially EU) youth protection legislation.
1:13 1:36 i feel bad for this kid cause he started crying and he worked so hard i could here the pain in his voice
i love how that kid who was shouting said he works his ass off to get the vr even though hes like 12
One time I saw a kid in VRChat and he bombed my home 😭😭😭😭😭😭they gotta be stopped 💔💔💔💔💔
For me, I am not considered a child by legal standards. But my higher pitched voice gets me... well yeah.
I just wish I could hang out in public worlds without feeling like a creeper in a daycare. Bloody children everywhere
why would you feel like that sounds like a personal issue
I'm 100% in favour of getting kids out of spaces with individuals 18 or older and here's why;
Having seen two of my friends get railroaded by the legal system due to kids (first instance was a 13yr old posing as a 20yr old.
And before anyone tries the argument that 'well, you can obviously hear in their voice that they're younger.' or 'just report them and disengage from them.' etc
