Your videos on larger kits are great at making them seem less intimidating. I'd never have considered painting a knight just because of the amount of plastic to cover but now I'm thinking that it's quite doable 🤔😁
I went ahead and joined your Patreon. I don’t have any other memberships but your channel has helped me paint so much I figured it was the least I could do. Thank you.
Enjoy your hols! I like that you mentioned about not doing the edge of the trim. I always fret about trying it, but fail miserably When you get back could we please get a quick tiamet scheme....
I’ve done a few knights and they are by far my favourite thing to build and paint. When they’re finished and painted up they’re brilliant pieces to looks at
I'm slowly taking the approach of a painted mini to a good standard is better than pushing round piles of grey. I would always get worried about ruining a mini so would never get started. Or trying to paint every single mini with highlights all over the place. Will my current paint jobs win prizes probably not but there painted and look good fielded on the tabletop. Your channel has definitely helped with some good no nonsense painting techniques. Your finished knight looks great and something anyone could achieve as well.
That’s exactly the reason I started my channel, to help people get models painted rather than being afraid to ruin them or being put off by crazy tutorials and thinking they have to hit certain standards. Painted is always better than plastic, and you can always add more paint! Painting for competitions is a whole other hobby and most winners don’t have fully painted armies 😄
Your weathering makes me think of armies moving through sandstorms moreso than explosions throwing dust into the air, cool either way. I like your paintjob and it's the perfect Knight for a Black Templar army !
For a single session of painting that's impressive. The only thing I would have done, that wouldn't have added much to the time would to stipple the base colour over the decals prior to and in a greater amount to the metallic colour. I find this gives the impression that the design is painted on and the top layer chips away before it reaches bare metal.
Love the no nonsense 'get it done' approach. Getting models in the cabinet and on the tabletop is very rewarding instead of grey plastic! As you say, can alwayd come back and do more!
Great video Andy, it’s brilliant seeing you do these big kits as it definitely lowers the fear factor of taking them on, would love to see another revisit video in the future when you take the next steps on it too.
Nice approachable technique. I'm still intimidated by air brushing and do wish you showed us how to do it with brushes. The knight came out lovely. Thank you.
Glad to see the airbrush getting some use...now I've bought the one you recommended and it arrived, looking to see opportunities to integrate into my work flow on models for my Dark Angels army...Great work.
Hi Andy, another great video. Love how to made the super structure seem so easy , and it is, and the right care and attention on the armour really takes the model to the next level. What was in the weathering pot?
Just picked up one of these guys, and I wish I had watched your video prior to painting my other knights. You are right, just painting the top of the gold trim and not going into the recesses looks just fine!
Yaaaass!!! You KNOW I wanted this video....still working on my knights and pre-ordered this bad boy today! How about a Patreon knight video on one of your unpainted ones?
Painting a Knight in a day is mental, but I know it can be done. I got pretty far painting a Chaos Knight in a single session when they first releases. My local store had an all day long painting marathon and I decided to bring that thing and see how far I got. The Lancer is cool as hell. Perhaps the chassis that embodies the Knights best. This giant mech could have a gun, but no. We're gonna charge that giant monster and stab it with a lance! For honor and glory! I've wanted one since I've first laid eyes upon the old Forge World kit, but large chunks of resin have always been intimidating to me. This plastic kit is a godsend.
I had the fear of doing the big models for a while, my black-primed armigers sat for months in a box. After watching a tutorial on knights I finally grabbed a makeup brush and drybrushed leadbelcher over them and was shocked at how quickly they looked amazing, fueling my desire to finish them! I just want to keep doing knights, they're so much easier than little space marines with their tiny details lol
Im personally waiting for the Acheron to add to my future salamander army. Im so excited for this kit because theres not telling what GW will pull out of Forgeworld next
Beautiful, that would sit proudly on any shelf. I noticed on this model and the tank you did earlier this week that you didn't use the dry brush stippling technique you used on earlier builds. (World Eater's tank and the Cargo 8 Ridgehauler, in particular. Is this a change in your technique or just didn't have time to do it this round?
I have a few different techniques for tanks and big plates. I feel like knights would be like that perfect lacquered coat of pint like a plant hull. And tanks would be that more rough coat you know what I mean?
This came out great!! bud love it :-) how many hours did it take not sure if you said. But its great. Big models can feel like a massive undertaken because of their size but many ways they can be easier (sometimes not) I done some tanks and APCs a while ago the first APC was terrible but after that I waited a while came back and every tank and APC came out Brillaint! done 4 of them plus a mini flame boi tank ha alot of it is in our heads :-) stuff like this can and will help alot of stuff.
@@MediocreHobbies okay that's where I'm headed as well. I'm assuming you air brushed the metallic or did you rattle can it? I'm just a little concerned with getting all the nooks and crannys up in their arms/shoulder area where it connects to the body.
@@MediocreHobbies Oh good! Would you say an open window and a mask is enough if by the window? I would want to try it but worried my room is ill fitting.
$200 price tag too much for me. But that's one big model, though the Titans make the Knights look puny, in comparison. What a great paint job. I need to work on my Heresy army. At least I have done some of my Primaris models, for 40k. Love your videos, my friend. Big thumbs up to you 👍.
Cheers man, really appreciate it! Check out my heresy videos and if there’s anything I can help with, let me know! And yeah the price tag ain’t for everyone 😂

I’d love to do a revisit video on this one. And I’m glad the video has gotten rid of the fears
Of big models pal
Outstanding as ever. Hope you have a fantastic and well deserved holiday. Do I see a Knight Week somewhere in your future?
That’s not a bad idea at all. Crazy and painful to think about. But possible.
Looks really cool, keep it for sure! I have been wanting a knight force, but so far the resistance of my wallet is strong...and I have enough to do!
We all have enough to do pal. But knights are very cool.

Any of the same steps can be applied by hand or airbrush, the airbrush just speeds things up for me! Glad you enjoyed the video!
I love this thing! It came out really clean looking. The airbrush looks like an essential tool to have.
It’s for sure a useful tool but not essential.

Do it. Just keep doing knights. You need a whole knight house.
Just ordered mine

As someone who has painted a knight by brush only it is doable but it is a larger project and took me 5 days to paint
5 days is great for such a big model. I’d love to see them.

When you did the metallic undercoat on the Exo skeleton, did you have the arms already glued in the position you wanted or did you paint that first?
Glued in place and then sprayed. I don’t like mining parts on models so I make them a solid piece.
@@MediocreHobbies okay that's where I'm headed as well. I'm assuming you air brushed the metallic or did you rattle can it? I'm just a little concerned with getting all the nooks and crannys up in their arms/shoulder area where it connects to the body.
@@GypsyDaenger rattle can! If its hard to get paint to anywhere it's also going to be hard to see if you miss a tiny spot ;)
is it a finished build? looks like there's a peg hole in the body above the head where a crest should go?
I’ll be 3D printing a crest for that part!
Would you recommend the black then leadbelcher sprays cans?
Yeah I always spray with black first then leadbelcher, metallic sprays have trouble sticking to plastic so an undercoat is always a good idea!
@@MediocreHobbies sweet cheers.
Trying to find more of these to find confidence to paint my castigator but im shitting myself even thinking about putting brush to it
It’s only paint, you can always start over or paint over mistakes. Best way to learn is to get going!

There’s always a way around that. People bring full knight armies to tournaments all the time. And as for storage I have it in a cabinet.
