Brother Bear, Spirit of the Stallion, Treasure Planet and Atlantis are probably several of the underrated Disney movies out there, but yet they play such a big part in my childhood...
I completely agree with you, they taught me values that I will never forget. Simbad and Balto too though they weren't disney. But all the same they are the greatest movies ever, though not all may have watched them
This has to be one of the best interpretations of First Nation culture in the century. It's also one of the most underrated Disney movies of all time, right up there with Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Dinosaurs, and Hunchback!
Dont forget The emperors new groove. This movie was so damn powerful and beautiful, too - not to mention probably the funniest Disney movie out of all of them
One human, One spirit, And one bear. Despite these differences, these three are brothers, and though their branches part ways, their roots will always be connected.
A lot of people talk shit about "returning to nature" with out even being in the forest. Check out "South Park" classic episode "Rainforest shmainforest". Perfect example of ecologist's aesop.
An amazing song performed by an amazing musician. God knows how many childhoods Phil has affected with his amazing songs, both in Tarzan and Brother Bear. He is definetly one of the greatest musicians in the history and deserves to be a true inspiration for future musicians
"Wisdom does not come without learning... and knowing much is not enough to be wise" "The key to understanding is to see through others eyes" "When we look do we see with open eyes?" Seriously these kind of stuff should be taught in schools, they are so though provoking, important and powerful lyrics. It's probably my favourite disney song
+Hannah Barton (Stripe Rainbow) the song talks about seeing through others eyes which is a way to realize why someone behaves in a certain way and when he says great spirits take our hands and lead us he talks about all the knowledge past generations left to us. The lyrics seem to be full of wisdom and don't have anything to do with creatonist delusions
This is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also appreciate the movie`s message that to understand the world you learn best by seeing through the eyes of another, as Kenai did through the eyes of a bear. The song had a deep wisdom in every lyric. A beautifully written and sung masterpiece by the legendary Phil Collins.
Brother bear (the first one!!) and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron are two of my favorite kid movies of all time. :) I still watch them constantly lol a piece of my childhood that'll never be forgotten.
Lyrics : When the earth was young And the air was sweet And the mountains kissed the sky In the far beyond, with its many paths Man and nature lived side by side The pretty wisdom does not come without learning And revision not wholly without our eyes We can think that we see Truly see you're around us But when we look Do we see with open minds? Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls with all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides Teach our children to look deeper than the surface See the world through another's eyes For to be blind beyond yourself Is to look but not see it Knowing much is not enough to be wise To see the wonder In all we've been given In a world that's not always as it seems On the path that we choose Turn every corner Follow on for another begins Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls With all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides Great Spirits of all who lived before Take our hands and lead us Fill our hearts and souls With all you know The key to understanding Is to see through others' eyes Find a way to help us See from all sides Truly see from all sides See from all sides
This song speaks to me on so many levels. I'm an aspiring writer & artist because I want to teach future generations to respect nature & heal this beautiful planet, before it's too late.
When I saw the brother bear for the first time it taught me loving older sister and care for living things. This movie has true meaning of love and guidance and wisdom.
This movie and its soundtrack always meant so much to me, I remember watching this when I was young and a few years later when I expressed how much this made me wish I was part of the Native culture my grandmum actually told me I was. She told me that my great-great grandmum was actually a full blooded Cherokee, that my granda could actually remember her. She never told me as there never seemed to be a reason to, I was only a kid, why would where I came from truly interest me, but even as a child of nearly 10 that was the best thing I could have ever been told. Hearing that made my heart swell with pride and adoration of my lineage. To know I was a close descendant to the marvelous culture of the First Nations of America. The people who walked and lived as one with this land for millennia before the Europeans ever set foot on these shores. I’m still so proud of being a close descendant of the Native Americans and I will never let that pride die, and even when I have a child, I want my daughter or son to know just how proud they should be of our ancestors and learn from them. The Natives had so many great lessons to teach, sadly, the European Colonials did not wish to learn. But I do wish to, and I want my lineage to know our ancestors and their ways, to be so very proud of them, and to teach others who our ancestors were.
"You never truly understand someone unless you consider things from his point of view; until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it."-Atticus Finch My gosh, does this song have that very meaning.
Absolutely stunnng. I love this movie :) I'm 26 years old now and looking back I think a lot of my personality has shaped from animated movies like these. They taught tiny me to be open minded and to have respect for nature and its inhabitants. I'm super grateful for that.

Best bit.... "When the earth was young, and the air was sweet, and the mountains, kissed the sky.." That single section makes you feel so amazing and happy, especially as the screen pans over the foreground, looks into the mountains, and sun flares.
I grew up watching disney films and i can say that brother bear is my ultimate favourite. I just love everything about this film. The characters, story, lessons, and soundtrack. 💯
I greatly prefer Phil's version to Tina Turner's version. It's not that Tina's version is bad, but it lacks the emotion and heart of this version. This is the version that should've been on the movie and I can't believe they went with the other version. This is much more haunting, melodic and catchy.
+EmmanuelleLunada2010 I like some parts of the one in the movie better like "Show us that in your hearts, we are all the same. Brothers to each other, in this world we remain." Phil keeps repeating, "see through another's eyes." But I like some parts of this one better than the other too like when she says "Lived 3 brothers.." makes it very movie specific.
I think the Tina version has more grit and is more raw and sort of fits in with the old shaman lady who's holding the ceromony. thats how i saw it as being representing her.
If they had blended the songs and blaneced them out it would have been beautiful in ways that each song is on its own. And I would have loved to hear Tina sing this version, or at least with the chanting
At the very least, they should have put it in the credits. Instead, you have Phil's versions of "No Way Out" (The theme from Brother Bear) and his "Look Through My Eyes." I'm not criticising those recordings, they're great as well, however, yes I would have liked to hear this version somewhere in the film, even as a credit roll. Yet, I'm probably also saying that from growing up with Tarzan and how his full version of "You'll Be In My Heart" is played during the credits.
I've listened to both versions and they're both amazing. Both have such amazing, powerful, and inspiring messages, and this movie is my favorite Disney movie of all time. It's so beautiful and so so breathtaking.
those good old disney movies always makes me cry:") it remindes me of those winter evenings when when i was sitting betwen mum and dad. like a family. now,it's diffrent.dad doesn't live with us anymore: / family just felt apart... thank god for phill collins's amazing nostalgic voice!
Phil Collins can make a Native American themed movie really well with his great voice almost like a chant towards the end of the song if you know where I'm talking about.
I'm 50 & I have this & other Disney(Pixar) movies. Yes, for me! Phil Collins being my favorite singer & being responsible for songs & score of Brother Bear was added bonus.
Phil Rocks! Its hard to believe that he is already in his late 50s and still sounds better than he did at the height of his career. I was dissappointed that the Phil Collins version of the Transformation song was not in the movie.
This movie is the best Disney movie ever, so many childhood memories crying to scenes while watching it. When we grow up and get kids, we need to chow this movie for them! :)
can i just say that brother bear was and will always be my favorite disney movie of all time, and it never fails to make me cry. do you ever listen to a song you haven't heard in a vary long time, and realize you know all the words.. :,)

This song's power. It fills we with a love for nature and animals. Truly, I'd give up an arm and a leg just so I could talk to the animals. It's the only thing I really want. One day... We're surrounded by creatures of mystery and beauty. Powerful creatures. Creatures with much to tell us humans.
My favorite part in the song "Lived three brothers bonded by love. Their hearts full of joy" and we see Sitka, Denahi and Kenai enjoying themselves just like any other siblings relationship and it's absolutely heartwarming. The rest of the lyrics: "Show us that in your eyes we are all the same, brothers to each other in this world we remain, truly brothers all the same." only make the song more awesome if not powerful. Sometimes I wish I had two older brothers and me being the youngest but no I have 2 younger siblings who I love to no end
I didn't know Phil Collins had sung an own version of this song, as well. It's not on my Brother Bear soundtrack, only of the Transformation and Welcome songs. Thank you for posting it, it's wonderful!
This song has so much life and meaning, I wish this made it into the final cut. Don't get me wrong, I like Tina Turner's version too, and that has a lot of life and meaning to it as well!
"Teach our children to look deeper than the surface, to see the world through another"s eyes."

I loved this version of Great Spirits from Brother Bear.
Lyrics :
When the earth was young
And the air was sweet
And the mountains kissed the sky
In the far beyond, with its many paths
Man and nature lived side by side
The pretty wisdom does not come without learning
And revision not wholly without our eyes
We can think that we see
Truly see you're around us
But when we look
Do we see with open minds?
Great Spirits of all who lived before
Take our hands and lead us
Fill our hearts and souls with all you know
The key to understanding
Is to see through others' eyes
Find a way to help us
See from all sides
Truly see from all sides
Teach our children to look deeper than the surface
See the world through another's eyes
For to be blind beyond yourself
Is to look but not see it
Knowing much is not enough to be wise
To see the wonder
In all we've been given
In a world that's not always as it seems
On the path that we choose
Turn every corner
Follow on for another begins
Great Spirits of all who lived before
Take our hands and lead us
Fill our hearts and souls
With all you know
The key to understanding
Is to see through others' eyes
Find a way to help us
See from all sides
Truly see from all sides
Great Spirits of all who lived before
Take our hands and lead us
Fill our hearts and souls
With all you know
The key to understanding
Is to see through others' eyes
Find a way to help us
See from all sides
Truly see from all sides
See from all sides

I didn't know Phil Collins had sung an own version of this song, as well. It's not on my Brother Bear soundtrack, only of the Transformation and Welcome songs.
Thank you for posting it, it's wonderful!
This movie always keeps me in tears. Thats just how powerful this whole movie is.
This song has so much life and meaning, I wish this made it into the final cut. Don't get me wrong, I like Tina Turner's version too, and that has a lot of life and meaning to it as well!
Tina was believed to be part native american
This one is probably the last good movie of Disney, simply beautiful
i love phil collins' songs. they are awesome!
I'm pretty sure that Phil Collins voice has carried throughout my entire life, and as long as he continues with disney, his voice shall continue/
