Bottomless Pit" is one of my favorite episodes. It's set up to be a bottle episode, but it ended up being three episodes in one, with three times the background art. I love it when shows do anthology episodes like this, and the stories in it are really good. My favorite being "Trooth Ache."
This episode is so clever with foreshadowing because it’s framed as a joke and is completely in-character. And it’s not even the first time the show has done it.
Yeah. For example, Stan committing tax fraud. At first it seems like it’s just him not wanting to pay his taxes, cause he’s greedy, which is true, but after seeing the whole show, I noticed there’s another reason he does that. And you probably have too.
I'm honestly glad I didn't watch this show when I was younger because I wouldn't be able to appreciate all of the more mature jokes, especially Stan's. Any of his adult jokes are certified gold. The tax fraud and meaning of life were a fantastic example.
@14:35 To support Kenny's argument, Stan did mention struggling to see well due to cataracts in S1E2. Interestingly, Stan lied about needing a 'Seeing Eye Bear', implying he has some sort of visual impairment. Probably not 100% true but the cops seemed to buy it. Also, consider the number of body parts in jars in the Mystery Shack - I can believe Stan would see his real teeth in there and just assume they were another oddity exhibit.
Definitely a fun story. and the different tales also are geared for each character is pretty fun. The grunkle stan football story is so funny to me too. also This episode starts a new design of grunkle stan's fez. The cryptogram in the end credits reads "14-5-24-20 21-16 14-5-24-20 21-16: "6-15-15-20-2-15-20 6-15-15-20-2-15-20 20-23-15: 7-18-21-14-11-12-5'19 7-18-5-22-5-14-7-5."" Once decoded it reads: "NEXT UP: "FOOTBOT TWO: GRUNKLE'S GREVENGE."
I personally think that Stan is fully aware of what these teeth are and what they do, and is intentionally saying things are "technically" true without actually revealing anything he's hiding, and even purposely is "truthfully" saying things that made everyone uncomfortable. This way, they would "learn a lesson," as it were.
I feel the same way about my ADD as Kenny. It wasn't diagnosed until I was in college, and spent most of my childhood wondering why I was always getting in trouble. Back then I would've given anything to change that.
Tilting or shaking a pinball machine to keep the ball in the game is a legitimate technique pro pinball players use, especially to manipulate the ball’s physics. Of course you can’t do it too hard or too often or the game tilts and you lose the ball.
10:42 - I'm guessing Ballway Games is meant to be a parody of Bally Midway, a company known for making a ton of classic arcade games and pinball machines.
2:40 it was meant to be a bottle episode but they ended up putting in 3 times the effort 😂 I also think they wanted a Wendy episode in this slot but Alex couldn’t figure it out
This episode holds a special place in my heart being the first episode I saw. This drew me into the show and got me to see the absolute masterpiece it ended up being.
Pinball machines have a tilt sensor that detects when the machine is tilted too far. If that happens, all controls are disabled until the ball falls all the way down, so not advised.
My ADHD is a struggle. I'm 32 right now and was diagnosed in Feb. For most of my life I was trying to work in a way that dose not work for my brain. No that I know what is the root. I am now learning more about me and my ADHD. I am learning how to function the right way for me but all how you need to to function in life. I am medicated and in therapy. My biggest struggle is emotional regulation especially near and durning periods.
23:40 I think the biggest danger with no one being able to lie would be that people in positions where they need to lie for their own or others' safety would be in serious trouble. Anyone who's closeted, for example, could be forced to come out in situations where it's not safe. Anyone living under or resisting an autocratic regime of any kind would be in serious peril. Even not being able to lie about little things, like forgetting your homework or opinions on how someone looks or acts or how you feel about them, could put people stuck in abusive situations in serious danger.
plot hole fill suggestion: stan is old and daft and genuinely just doesn't notice the extra (real) dentures on his table XD I'm only in my mid twenties and I forget or lose stuff all the time ahah
I don't think has spoilers (and correct me if I'm wrong fellow commentors) but at some point you should check out Alex Hirsh vs Disney. It's a video of emails chronicling all the road blocks and head aches he had with Disney's censors. It's actually rather hilarious in a frustrating way
You all must have been a lot calmer kids than I was. Because I can remember multiple times I got mad and pushed or shook the machine and it yelled tilt at me lol
Pretty sure ballway games isn’t real, but Redmond WA is! It’s where i lived in high school. Was wild hearing my fairly random suburban town in a popular show
Kenny you must have been a lot calmer kid than me. Because I would get mad at the pinball machine and either push or shake it and it would yell tilt at me. And yes if you didn't know a lot of pinball machines have sensors that detect if the machine is being but since those sensors were made during the heyday of cabinet arcades I can't really tell tilting apart from shaking
Glad you included my favorite joke this time (13:20). In ref to 21:44, all the more reason to react to Camp Cretaceous & Harley Quinn, both animated shows w/lots of action, representation, & psych-related discussion content.
@@dinoboy-theyoungsrilankant2447 If you don't talk about s5, you should. In terms of actual quality, it's definitely good (especially at tying everything up & feeling complete), maybe 2nd only to s3.
@@dinoboy-theyoungsrilankant2447 Sorry if you didn't like s4-5 as much. S4 isn't my favorite either (though to be fair, that's partly b/c it's basically the 1st half of an extra long season). In terms of actual quality, s5 is definitely good (especially at tying everything up & feeling complete), maybe 2nd only to s3.
If Montana hasn't seen Steven Universe, you MUST watch it next. It really is incredible, and is one of the cormerstones of the modern era of animation.
I think everyone telling the truth would make everyone think differently, and in turn no one would be offended by immediate thoughts because they would start to realize, who cares? Everyones pointing out things about me i dont like, I am pointing out things about everyone else they dont like, and over time no one would start noticing those things anymore. At least thats what I think would happen over a long time of no one being able to lie.
Hate to “um actually” this one, but the truth teeth are in the physical copy of journal 3 you can get in stores. It is the only canonical story in this episode
Ahh the first episode of Gravity falls to literally center around gravity falling
Welp can't argue there

I watched this show literally the day before they started watching for the first time. I am 21 and my bff was so happy I finally watched it. XD
Pinball machines have anti-tilt technology these days. If you tilt the machine they often will lock the bumpers until the ball is no longer in play.
The “Stan is a Menace Counter” is gonna be at 50+

"Threw in a Talking robot for the kids" is a Rocky IV gag pretty sure
14:41 I think that's more an animation error than a plot hole but I get your point.

Hopefully they buy one, read it, review it and upload there thoughts on here.
