@@Optinooby just a couple things I did differently like getting all collectibles in a separate playthrough, yeah pretty much that order for difficulty butvswap mgs1 with mgs3, those oldschool controls were a bugger lol. Yeah I was gonna play through them again and just enjoy the story but I've definitely got metal gear fatigue.

Cheers mate for this brilliant guide! I used it to get all collectables and other trophies on a very easy playthrough. Planning to do Foxhound on Euro Extreme without worrying about collectables. Pretty cool it can all be done in one though
I had to repeat a save from the cell where you meet Johnny 3 times... man I felt horrible punching him like I had to to avoid the alert. Great guide BTW
With the tsuchinoko you have to go farther from the door. There's also a Japanese flying squirrel towards the beginning before the horse.

Completely up to you mate, you dont have to do everything i do. If you wanna split it up you can do, just take what you need from the video and/or text guide

I still collect all the animals and finish the game with the live Tsuchinko which I think are PS3/Vita requirements but not Master Collection version.

@@Isminha Yes i think it does, but there are a lot of saves, so it's not too bad to reload a save if you think you have taken too long since the last save

@@Optinooby i am pretty sure that is the problem, i loaded a save and didn't think of the animals. i will do one more playthrough anyway with the stealth camo,it should't effect on getting the markhor rank right ! i mean beside getting the 48 plants/animals is there any more requirements?
@@MontyPlays33 Stealth should only affect Fox rank, but you've already done that

Thanks but holding RB (Xbox) crashes my game during cutscenes. The sound levels are terrible too and at this point I doubt they patch this.

Great job on the playthrough! You made the Torture Scene escape so simple! The only part I struggled with was The Pain fight.
For The Fury, you could save a bit of time by at the start by running in the direction you go but you want to find him first and get three shots off. Then go to your hiding spot.
For The Boss fight, an alternative would be to go Snow Camo and snipe her from a distance with the Nagant. Now I'm unsure if you have enough time to get her camo so you might have to finish the fight with your CQC strat. I think this strat is a bit safer for us slow-response people that struggled with the CQC part.
How many safety Saves do you think you had to make in regards to Food/Frogs? I counted 4 during the chase scene so anyone planning on just doing FOXHOUND run could use those saves in different spots.

The trophy achievements for this game are not hard to get. However trying to do it in one go is got to be a tedious headache. The hardest part is getting all the keratins and for some damn reason, the developers wanted to troll us by putting them in the worst section in the middle of the chase at the end. Just so you have to replay a certain section to make sure you got the damn thing.
There is no requirement to do it all in one go, follow this in 2 or even 3 playthroughs if you wish ;)

Unsure, but rest mode should stop the timer.
Hey mate, quick question: you said after The Pain that on NG+ it could be useful, so could I do a Foxhound run on NG+ and use the camos of the bosses? Does it make much of a difference aside from this fight?
It will make the pain a little easier as the hornets wont attack you. Just dont use the stealth, infinity wig or EZ Gun as they void Foxhound

I always lose the suppressor for the Mk22 when defeating Volgin, and I have no suppressor will it affect foxhound rank if I shoot the guards without the suppressor with mk22 ?
It just makes it very easy to alert others, there is a outfit you where that makes it so suppressors dont wear down
Hey Opti, you said in the beginning that you only saved 23 times, but at the end it says 25. Did I miss an explanation somewhere?
I made an extra save by the electric fence/cardboard box area where you suggested it might be helpful. Now I’m wondering if I need to skip a save to hit 25 exactly and not go over.
No 2 were mistakes which you didnt see. You only see me save 23 times, I think I had to move a save or something

It did on the original HD version, so assuming this is the same, getting the one you missed on a NG+ save should pop the trophy!

You missed the Splitter camo on the ledge in Bolshaya Past South...how did you unlock the trophy?! Also just remove your supressors during boss fights.
I didnt miss it, it just spawns in a few spots, we get it in a different spot. We unlock the trophy by getting all the camos still, quite a few can spawn in various spots. Ive just always got that camo on pretty much, either way you have to switch something around, unequipping silencers is another option i guess ;)
If you're following something else alongside me, I would just advise following the other guide and ignoring this one. A lot of times I do things differently to other guides due to optimisation or the other guide not knowing stuff. So if you come into mine with information from other guides, you may find a lot of conflicting info with what you think you read elsewhere. You may be telling me again later that I missed something else for example.
I always advise to just follow mine and forget what you've read elsewhere, I mean you already think I missed a camo and you believed the other guide over mine!!! ;)

This is where we get it btw, taken from my text guide:
- KRASNOGORJE MOUNTAINTOP RUINS -
1 - Equip the Spider uniform again.
2 - Camouflage - Uniform - Splitter - Head south down the trench and climb out as soon as possible to evade the guard to the west. Then keep going southeast and you will eventually slide down a brief hill and land beside this.
3 - 40/64 Kerotan - From the uniform, this is on the ledge slightly to the south. Equip the Animals uniform to shoot this and then switch back.
4 - Now head back up the hill slightly and enter the first red door you reach.
Nice, helpful, and thorough guide. Still a monster for killing the dogs, though, bud lmao
You the man opti.. Cheers mate. I had a lot of downtime this weekend so knocked out MGS1 following your guide now onto MGS3.. I will probably skip mgs2 altogether because I don't feel like going through VR missions again lmao. I would rather play through and get big boss rank several times than have to torture myself through vr again.. But as always, top notch guides my friend.
Everything I try and get the end snake keeps coughing so I can't punch him in time to then hold him up. So annoying. Any tips?

How do you always have 3/4 of a silencer? In at the end boss fight.... did all head shots like you and i only have a 1/2 of silencer left... just wondering
The camo im wearing gives you unlimited silencer. Forget the name but i would have mentioned it
Hey Opti quick question.. Does getting a 'Caution' count as an "Alert" or does it have to be full on red alert status? A guy woke up while I was still in the area and went into 'Caution'.. I almost feel like I answered it in my question haha but I just want to be sure, you know.
I already forgotten most, but i dont think it does mate, we even have scripted cautions dont we like when we hide under the bed because those enemies are coming in

If you do that, you wont get the Camo

EDIT: Just ended the run today, I struggled with big boss and the mountains after the end, but in the end I got foxhound rank, thanks for this masterpiece of guide, you made it look so easy 😂 for the ones starting this now, just be patient and take a brake if you feel stuck.

Hi, following your guide I think I ran into a pretty bad bug... In fact, when I saved at the beginning of the end's boss fight, I went back to the main menu to go afk for about 30/40 minutes, and when I reloaded the save I found the end dead. Wasn't it supposed to be at least a week? Is there a way to bring it back to life or do I have to do the run again?
Its spose to be about 8 days yea. Yea check the time of the save and change your system clock back to that time and date manually.
Let me know how you get on, but that should work
@@Optinooby I've tried it now and the death cutscene keeps starting. I set the time of my ps5 to December 31, 2023, 8 days ago compared to now but nothing... It keeps dying anyway

@@Optinooby Well this is probably my mistake, because unlike you I wasn't doing separate saves but rather all in one. But at the same time, I didn't think something like this could ever happen to me... As soon as the boss fight started I saved, went back to the main menu and for about 40 minutes I was completely afk, and reloading it died...
@darknesskyle0450 I dunno why that happened mate, i even was messing about with the date on that fight to see if you can get the camo that way but you cant.
Maybe its because you just went AFK during the battle for an hour and that can have the same effect, or a glitch, dunno.
You need to make regular saves on this mate unless you have done lots of practice
For THE END FIGHT if you have the camo and finished the game before doing european extreme can you do the pass a year on system clock method to skip the fight or does this rule out getting FOXHOUND rank please?
Dont see why not, never tested myself. I could never skip him because as you mentioned, needed the camo

So I have just completed for foxhound using your guide thank you so much mate, you also helped me platinum FF7 remake too. So yes you can skip the end and the sorrow but if you skip the end you cannot get the mosin nagant I am afraid.
@@DannyS10100 Cant get his weapon or camo can you. So you can get foxhound, but not all weapons or all camos, thanks for the info mate
Apparently, you can pause the timer if you suspend the game and launch something else. Not tested it yet, though
That works for every game mate, rest mode and suspend via opening a media app

The cardboard box has two helpful uses that I don't think you mentioned. 1, the scientists will react to you as a scientist but won't alert or kick over the cardboard box while you're in it. 2, if The Fury sets you on fire then quick equipping then unequipping the box will put out the flames.
Also in case anyone is wondering, Calorie Mate is available to buy in most convinience stores in Japan. It looks and tastes quite a lot like a shortbread biscuit, but you can get different flavours such as chocolate and maple syrup. They only cost about £1.
When I did this on the ps3 I missed the kerotan in The Pain boss room and when the trophy didn't pop I assumed I missed one on the bike section so I did the whole thing again and again and again.... did not enjoy!!!!
I mentioned the Fury thing mate with box, didnt mention the box with the scientists and guards to get close as i dont like to use that as it can be tricky without practise

Gonna start this tomorrow. I read on another guide that the timer doesn’t stop when you pause the game, but then I also read that if you pause the game using L1/R1 then it does freeze the time?
im sure i mention it all at the start, we make enough saves that you can redo sections quite easily if you mess up

Youre my only hope, so I didn’t get markhor rank or fox rank but got all other trophies. If I load up a save from when I beat the game does the timer reset? can I use all my camos on my new playthrough and do I still have 5 hours to beat the game to get fox rank even tho the saves at 3 hours and a half?

5 hours yea and you cant use the stealth camo, infinity face paint or ez gun for Foxhound, everything else can be used though

I cant recall which it is, spotted will fail the trophy, but evasion is ok, when they hear something, but not sure what it is, thats ok.
Its just if you're properly seen, then its fail

Just shoot them and hear the noise, ive never heard that 360 thing before. Are you sure you didnt load a save and forgot to shoot frog again?

I got everything except the fashionista trophy.. not sure what happend but i looked it up and apparently i gotta go up to when you get the maintence uniform again and it unlocks? at least i have stealth..

@@Optinooby Just to confirm i did NG+, got all the way back to the maintence uniform locker, picked it up and got the trophy. I have no idea why this happend. at least i had stealh camo to just basically run to this location. But this is still about an hour and a half to get here. Oh well! it's popped now! Thanks for the guide!

Okay I’m so bummed. I absolutely did not miss a keratin and the trophy didn’t pop. I’m devastated. I 100% for sure got them all without a doubt. Shot them all multiple times. Even the bunch during the rails sequence. I kind of hate this.

@@Optinooby Idk. I played on very easy for this one because I wanted to get everything else out of the way so I never had to reload my save. I also didn’t get King of the Jungle even though I got all the trophies for the plants and animals and all that. Man, this is quite the bummer. I feel like I just wasted like 2 days. Ugh.

@Tomweldonsays If you did Foxhound first, you could have at least gone through Very Easy with ALL unlockables.
Doing it your way, would have been better to do Foxhound without Kerotans and animals, then do very easy afterwards with infinite guns, stealth camo etc

What trophies are different?
@@Optinooby according to google, there are 6 new trophies and one of them is earning foxhound rank. Perhaps there are more differences in gameplay, which i cant confirm, because i've never played any MGS.
Well gameplay is all the same as far as i know so if trophies are similar, should all work

@@Optinooby No worries man, speed running again, but this time I’m gonna try not shoot those barrels. I think it’s 50/50 I heard if you shoot the barrels and enemies fall in water and drown it counts as a kill, but they have to not fall in the water when shooting the barrel…

Do you mean with how the system clock effects food going bad and a few other things? Yea this all still happens even if game is off, its why i mention the only way to avoid it is to check what the time is on your game save before opening the game, and then change the clock to that time before loading the game up

Playthrough timer only counts while in that playthrough.
Just a few things are effected when the game is off.

I love your guides and they have been a great help... but I'll be honest, its so annoying how easy you make some things look lol. I get so frustrated with how shit the controls are in every one of these games are. Aiming is a nightmare and the camera is always working against me. I get fucked over so often by buttons and movement not working like it should. Fun, but so fucking frustrating lol
think how great the remake will be
