You could feel the stadium quivering. My friends in the press box said it was actually moving. I've been through 6 decades of Beaver Stadium games back to Rip Engle and nothing beats this for noise.
It was definitely the loudest I can ever remember the pregame/opening series of the game being. Penn State fans wanted this one BAD. Thank god we hung on! Had they blown a 21-0 lead I'm not sure what would have happened in the aftermath
It was an amazing game, drove without a ticket and spent $125 on one on a rainy night. Best money I ever spent. Great game! Couldn't speak at work for two days.
It was so loud that Herbsrtiet said the rafters were shaking in the press box!!! He has always said, it is the loudest and best environment in college football hands down!!!
I was there, senior year. Will never forget the eruptions when 1) Lowry picked off Smith and 2) Paxson recovered the fumble Zombie nation blaring - thought the stadium was gonna collapse!!!
I'm a Penn State alumni and have been to many great games, but nothing compares to this one. The crowd, the noise, the stadium moving this was the ultimate experience in college football. My wife and I and the kids were all at this game dressed in white. WE ARE, and we will never forget it.
My dad has had season tickets since 1972 and I almost never missed a game, I remember this one very well. I think I can hear myself screaming to this day!
I was 15 at the time and had a student sitting to my right and we were the only two people who didn't stand the entire game - I sat to rest my back, he did it because he was fucked up on something and kept dozing off(must've been good shit, 'cause I have no idea how he managed it.) Regardless, sitting down while everyone else is up and bouncing is a good way to experience what an earthquake feels like. I swear the stands were bending an inch with every bounce. Still one of the coolest experiences I've everhad.
My all time favorite team of any sport 2005 Penn state and my all time favorite player Mike Robinson. He’s a god in my household lol. He put the program on his back that season. 4-7 seasons 4 straight bad years and he won the orange bowl going 11-1 and because of him the program was back the the national requirement picture and playing in big bowl games again. I believe they were ranked as high as 3 in 2005 and by 2008 were #1 in one poll and number 2 in another poll and 9-0 before one of those famous white boy corners from Iowa picked Penn st late and CRUSHED Penn states season . After that they had a few 11-1 seasons but only 1 Big Ten championship I believe
Bro Franklin got this program at the highest it’s been since pre 2000. This is not your grandpas osu. They recruit like lunatics treadle didn’t do that. We are on the trajectory be patient 2027 class is going to be program defining
Man if we only beat Michigan a week later we coulda had a shot at the national championship and kicked some Texas or USC ass! I would rank this 2005 Nittany Lion team as the best PSU team of the 2000's so far, although that 2016 team with McSorley and Barkley was pretty close but they had an inferior defense compared to 2005
@@daveromanyshyn1170 The one major flaw that 2005 team had, was kick coverage.. Why they ever kicked to Breston, I'll never know.. But they did. The fact Henne had the 01 second on the clock in the end to beat us, however, was bush league. Totally Lloyd Carr "Referined."
Cole Kitchen I remember it like it was yesterday. The two seconds on the clock will haunt us forever. But, we did blow an eight-point lead halfway through the 4th quarter. Sounds like PSU in 2017-2019.
@@daveromanyshyn1170 Penn State football 2016-2019 and on... is in far better shape than where it was back in 2005. Just look at recruiting. We get a solid win over a good Memphis squad in two weeks, finish the year 11-2 with our 3rd top 10 finish in 4 years... with a probable top 10 preseason ranking heading into 2020... Skies the limit my friend.
2005 was louder & more intense than 2016. Both were amazing atmospheres, and they are #1 & #2 all time imo. But the stadium shook from beginning to end in ‘05. It felt like the whole structure was about to collapse. And you couldn’t even hear the person next to the entire game.

This is the greatest sporting event that I have ever attended. PSU '03-07. WE ARE!

Nothing Close
I was a season ticket holder for 30 years. The loudest I ever heard Beaver Stadium. Incredible atmosphere and game.

I was at that game. It was freaking incredible.
Edit: we gave Paul a standing ovation in psych class the next week
Never been to a louder football game in my life! Take me back to freshman year, Geary Hall. We ARE!!!

Beaver Stadium is an amazing experience. The fans are relentless. We Are!
Hali, Puz, Connor..... man that defense was stacked
ohio state fan here, this game was awesome. 2017 was our version.
This was the loudest Penn State game I have ever been too.

Damn, was that Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn on each side?

This energy needs to be channeled this week.

Back in the Paterno years it was nice to be able to beat the big boys in the Big Ten....Franklin came along..its all changed...now we are scared.

What about 2008? 3 wins from getting to the National championship game?
And then there was next week at Ann Arbor...🤬
Was at that one too... we got robbed.
Cole Kitchen Agreed.
