Paris is so chaotic. What a contrast with New-york : busy but one direction traffic and wide straight lines, Paris looks like battlefield: bikes, cars, bus, scooters, pedestrians, everywhere, in every direction, every 15m meters. This is crazy.
Hittin da cobbles. I love french cycling and the french history of cycling. Guys like Jean Robic who won the Tour in 1948 and was a pioneer in the sport of cyclocross. One thing about Robic, he would only ride a bicycle that was made by a french bike builder with french tubing and french gearing. Despite that during this time all the serious race teams were using the british steel Reynolds 531 and the italian Compagnolo gearing.
For all who are wondering, YES riding a bike in Paris is chaotic, streets are narrow and bike lanes overcrowded or not well design. About the massive police presence: there were a big strike that day against the rise of the far right in the 1st round of the parlement election. But it resulted in the 2nd round a mixed between all left and right.
Quite a different experience than NYC With the variety of people driving from different countries, I’m sure that most are not expecting this Kamakazi style of riding. Seemed like a much slower pace than usual 🤔 Maybe I could actually keep up🤷♂️ Great video as always 👍😎

thanks for confirming cyclist bad rep in Paris, basically doing everything other road user hates ... and that's only the ones cycling here everyday that pays the price of it when when car drivers or else get agressive for nothing ...
The Paris mayors of the city made the streets narrower to make citizens ride and drive with reduced speed. But actually they made it more busy and then more dangerous for everyone😢
When there is a protest march/demonstration (i don't how if that's the right english word) in France, there's always groups of a**holes breaking stuff, throwing rocks at the police etc it's almost never peaceful
Yeah, she did quite a longer order than optimal (the bridge should have been done first cost her easily 7-8 km). And the first 30 to reach the finish got a second manifest that added 20ish km so they weren't there at the finish.

Paris traffic freaking scares me. I'm comfortable in traffic in most European cities, whether on a bike or in a car but Paris is a big NOPE from me. It's complete chaos. And it's not like London - chaotic neutral. Paris is chaotic evil with a bit of insanity.
On the contrary, fixed gear riders are MORE aware of their surroundings, watch closely ...the motorist, pedestrians, are not even aware that the fixie rider is there until the last minute....don't look at the vid WATCH IT!!!😊..fixies, are anticipating many many meters ahead of them....riding a fixed gear is not like riding a "normal" bicycle ..
When you put yourself into such danger (driving on the wrong side of a traffic island) it's hard to put the blame on another driver that's just trying to react to your erratic behavior.
Love the vids you made all around the world but seeing this in Paris feels weird when I know the laws and how usually people trash on cyclists (my self included) when they don’t respect other people. Cool editing and amazing shots tho 😅.
It has been about 32 years since the last time I visited Paris and didn’t ride a bike while there. It’s definitely a beautifully layered city, wouldn’t mind living there if it wasn’t for the french 😉🤣 PS It seems there are always protests in Paris!! After the whole guillotine incident they are always looking for another head to chop off!! 😮
While it is quite entertaining to watch this. I can’t help but feel scared for pedestrians in some situations. Like, over anyone, a pedestrian not paying attention to a cyclist not obeying traffic laws is really never going to be their fault. I get the exhilaration people get from fixie culture, but it just seems to come at such a high cost: either decking someone who’s walking, or getting hit by a car. I just don’t get the risk. It’s like free soloing to a degree. Impressive, but completely unnecessary
In Europe you can't ride like in US. Traffic is actually moving here and no one cares about the fact that you feel like going through red light, drivers will brake only if absolutely necessary.
Worst ride I’ve ever seen no respect whatsoever for anything, pedestrians drivers road code she doesn’t give a shit this is horrible and so dangerous for other road users even pedestrians crossing on the crossing lane get no mercy this is appalling, what a disgusting attitude, you’re not a first responder rushing to save a life, stop behaving like you’re all alone on these roads

so grateful to see Terry covering Paris fixed gear scene
hey, any ideas on what things to follow to keep up with Paris fixed gear scene? moved there thxxx
Soothing music to makes us forget how chaotic Paris is. Brilliant work 🎉
It seems a bit tougher than in US cities, european streets are narrow and much more complex on intersections. Paris is especially messy.
That is why we mostly do alleycats in the evenings when there is less traffic.
This is super dangerous in Paris.
