    I think for food, they prefer algae (spirulina) which you can buy cheap in powdered form, and even yeast, like for baking bread, in the baking aisle at the grocery store. So for growing algae it's good the bucket is in the sun, but it's probably not enough

    Good job for raising bigger live food for the fish rather with the processed food.

    I like the hatchery you've but I have never used it. Instead I have great success in decapsulating the eggs before putting them in the pop bottle for hatching. Having no shells and waste works well for me.

      How do you decapsulate the eggs.

    • @shaunneal9981
      @shaunneal9981 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Rajaguru.aradhya777 I soak half a tsp of brine shrimp eggs in 50ml of tap water in a cup. Leave it for an hour so until the eggs rehydrate. I then add three ice cubes and 200ml of pool chlorine. The reaction produces heat so the ice cubes keep the eggs cool. Continuously stir the eggs and watch the colour change. They go from brown to yellow to orange in about 3mins. When they are orange they are done. I put them in a brine shrimp net and rinse the chlorine off under the tap. I then put them in the hatchery but you can feed them without hatching them. You can use bleach and the different concentrations will determine how long it takes for them to change colour. The pool chlorine I use is strong so it doesn't take long.

    I use the same hatchery to grow the babies for my exclamation point rasboras. Was considering growing them bigger for them, and now after seeing your video, it looks like the adult shrimp are almost as big as my rasboras! LOL, I didn't know they got that big! 😆 I till think I'll try growing them and see what happens. They are very cool looking as adults. Thanks so much, I seen so many complicated systems and knew there had to be a simpler way, considering how super easy that hatchery is to use. I wonder why more people don't use it? I love mine and have the tiny BBS every day for my fish. Thanks so much for the great video! 😊

    I use that as a separator, I had a terrible hatch rate using it. Normally. I use a bottle with an air stone. Then I use this to separate eggs from shrimp. I fill the inner rings with water then add my strained hatched shrimp and eggs to the outer ring. They swim to the middle and you don’t get any shells.

    Nice brine shrimp setup, it seems to have grown very well. May i know how do you maintain the water parameters for the brine? I just started to grown brine, it died 3 days later, not sure why...

    • @shadbonen
      @shadbonen  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really don't have any tricks I use waste water from my reef water changes try keep 1.025 grind fine dry algea wafers for food otherwise I just kind of ignore it when it's outside I cover when it rains otherwise that's about it

    • @e-man2081
      @e-man2081 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Brine shrimp seem to do well without adjusting the water parameters. I used to keep "sea monkeys" in a jar when I was a kid and all I did was feed them and add water.

    How do you set up the tub please

    • @shadbonen
      @shadbonen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      As the tub gets algea on the sides fr the sun it will help them in feeding and growing I never set it up to be a show piece more of a grow out area if you have outside and it rains or gets cold you will need to check the salinity and adjust also if your area is cold you would need some form of heated I have it outside in summer and inside winter so temp not a problem you situation might be different as far as the tub it could be a glass aquarium or even just a bucket for smaller setup it's up to you

    Hey! I wanted to know what happened to the shrimp when they die. Do they decompose in the tub and then are eaten by other shrimp or do they just stay there until a water change?

    • @shadbonen
      @shadbonen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would guess they decompose and are eliminated over time I have a tube outside and one inside I clean only once before season start winter and summer

  • @ninarichards2046
    @ninarichards2046 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is filtration needed, or does oxygen need to be added to the water like for daphnia? What about water changes? And lastly, what salinity do you use and does it matter what kind of salt is used?

    • @shadbonen
      @shadbonen  ปีที่แล้ว

      They need no filtration no added oxygen I never changed the water do like 6 months and start over I use waste water from reef so 1.025 and any aquarium salt is fine they love dirty water and algea this will not be good as a display only grow out
