I feed my fish once a week with BBS and after few months of observation I noticed that their colors become more vivid and they are more active. I also think that BBS is their favorite food among the 5 fish food i feed them.
I’ve literally only been breeding fish for about 4 months but I love watching my hundreds of rainbow fry chasing the brine shrimp. I’ve tried growing the brine shrimp but they always seem to die after about a week
I have in the past built an artemia bath out of an old bath tub, add proper salt and make sure you have good aeration, feed them spirulina ( blitz the spirulina in water first before you add it to the bath) It is possible to grow them out. 🙂
Was waiting for this video I myself failed heaps at this and I believe I am confident to try again. I changed my name on here to site tanks and bonsai you and Adrian have helped me heaps with tanks I appreciate it so much 🤟
Dude I struggled for ages with hatching brine shrimp too but you've just got to experiment and see what works for you and your water. It can be frustrating but keep at it.
I love hatching my own BBS, I do it in an upside down milk carton (plastic) and clip it onto the inside of my aquarium for the 26-27c temperature, it’s a kind of addiction, love the whole setting up and harvesting and all the fish love it no matter the size of their mouth!! 🙂
I hatch brine shrimp every day using two 'pop bottle' type hatcheries. I decapsulate the brine shrimp first and let them hatch for 36 hours. I have spare phyto that I add to the hatchery to give extra nutrition to the shrimp.
I occasionally hatch BBS when I don't have small fry and all my adult fish love the stuff! Okay, the suckermouth catfish would rather eat vegetarian but the tetras and cory's love it so much! My cherryshrimp like to eat anything. They smash this and anything else I feed them.
I am keen to know as well. I use the 454g cans of ocean nutrition eggs but don't know if they are the best. Although I have seen them used by Nick in a previous brine shrimp video he's done.
Tibetan Red eggs from Blackwater Aquariums online I believe are the best and biggest available in Australia. I have been using them for a while now with very good results.
What about the salt over and over with species that dont do good with salt? I realize water changes are needed but still i worry.. should I worry about that or is it ok?
Would depend on what specie of fish you are feeding to. I used to feed baby brine shrimp to my guppies and they did fine with the extra salt in the water. Other fish do not tolerate salt, as do most plants, so if you are raising in a planted tank or a tank with lots of floating plants, I’d be careful. Water changes more often will probably be very important, to prevent salt building up.
Nah is not lazy but in some place is not easy to find this and especially the equipment that you use, we don’t have it , but I’m a breeder, am I failed? Nope, and I hope one day I’ll have those luxury equipment
14:00 reminded me of today seeing an electric blue crayfish just going to town on another one's carcass in a pet shop. They were $35 a piece. Im like, $35 just ate $35 can i get a discount? Loo
Biofilm is the best food for shrimp - that slimey stuff that grows on surfaces in the aquarium. If you are asking about baby brine shrimp then it is phytoplankton and other single celled and microscopic critters in the water.
:)

Completely normal. They're a salt water organism and don't typically live long

Me too I can't grow them into adult stage they also die off after a week I try feed them Spirulina but no success what do we do?
There must be a secret that were yet to discover

Goodlooking bro I needed this is crashed one of my cultures idk what happen I may have fried them so imma try without a heater
Great informative video Nick. Thanks mate, thank your pal for the tutorial
5:38 “we were eating breakfast or something like that” 😉
One coffee scoop is 30ml. 15 ml = 1 tablespoon. So you are using 2 tablespoons of salt😊
Surely all coffee scoops are of a different size so how can you say that it was 30ml?
@14:50 i never tried feeding bbs to Neo Caridina. Will try that soon!!
Dean is such a clever guy
Thanks for all the advice man , bred corys and lots more with your advice.

INTERESTING :)
THANK YOU FOR SHARING :)
THANK YOU FROM ISRAEL :)
I would hatch BBs more but they are crazy expensive in Nz so i save my eggs for special occasions
I saw Dean at the arium shop in Issiqua once, it was a strange experience seeing someone I know from the internet in person.
@ 9:47 Lukes Goldies has tasted freshly hatched brine Shrimp!!!
Shoulda tried it 😂
Great video
👍🏻😎 You and Dean are my fish breeding go to's.
Can not find the brineshimp sieve on amazon. Pity you did not leave a link.
Wow. Great video for new learnings!
G'day Nick, which brand of brine shrimp eggs available in Australia would you recommend?

Love the Video bro great eplanation for how BBs benifits your beeding
Looks like scrambled eggs 😋
Great video ❤
Thank you!!
What brine shrimp eggs do you recommend in Australia?
Liquid gold!
Does anyone know what size of filter/mesh to separate bbs to shells? Like what he have at 6:56?
What species of catfish were those in the first tank that Dean fed?
I would say an Aspidoras species for sure
What about the salt over and over with species that dont do good with salt? I realize water changes are needed but still i worry.. should I worry about that or is it ok?

Can you dump a ton of baby brine in a tank of adult Cichlids
Yes you can and they will most likely munch it down. Most larger and 'vegetarian' fish I have had will gobble bbs but my male apisto refuses!

@@shaunneal9981 what if I don’t have biofilm
Teaspoon 5ml
Tablespoons 10ml
Dessertspoon 15ml
In Aus a tablespoon is 15ml and a teaspoon is 5mls.
I cant grow my baby brine into adults it always fails how do i do it after they've hatched ? i want adult brine
Crushed alegea wafers
Does anyone ever de-capsulate their brine shrimp eggs before they put them in a hatcher?
Yup every day. I find it is so much easier than dealing with egg shells and unhatched eggs.
First
The babies are higher in fat. The adults are higher in protein.
Whenever I feed adult brine shrimp I imagine them as the fish equivalent of salty fries!

Another great video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
