Unfortunately, several tour companies have been selling cheap tourist visas as hajj visas. Illegal and no access to facilities. No way of knowing if they got swindled. I am one of the crazies that takes walks in it on a daily basis, BUT I have lived in the desert for the past 7 years and am used temperatures up to 125 degrees. Yes I bring lots of water and yes I do use ice blocks that melt within 20mins but I know my body and when to stop. People dont realize the extremes heat can do to you if you are not in it everyday. You have to be prepared. Doesnt sound like these events are prepared nor care to distribute warnings.
