Wishful thinking, for sure! Societies have not evolved to that point of education and understanding as yet. That's why there are religions ... hopefully, to help people just Love, regardless of whether they understand or like; JUST LOVE!
@@d.j.7069 Religions??? Religion has persecuted gays since the beginning of their existence. See the metaphor in the film. They gay schoolboys met OUTSIDE the church.
I love that understanding father. The father accepts it in the best way, he sits on the couch, takes his beer, smiles and calls Andri's mother to break the news. I wish all parents were so understanding and accepting.
This is so well done. Everyone is commenting on the father's reaction, which is great. But I was really struck by the son. The way the actor portrayed that moment of pure fear when you are faced with verbalizing what is going on, was so real. His father is confronting him in the kitchen and the look on his face exudes that intense knowledge that if he says what he wants to say, everything from that moment on will be different. Stunning.
It's astonishing to me that so much plot and character can be packed into a mere 13 minutes and 25 seconds. Whoever wrote this deserves many accolades.
Jaime Pacheco Pocos padres se toman con esa naturalidad lo que sus hijos son, mientras lo chicos sufren al ignorar la reacción que podrían tener al conocer su verdad. Me gusto, muy recomendable.
That is how it's supposed to work. Too often, parents don't understand that if their kid happens to be gay, they are still the same son or daughter they loved before they found out. The father's reaction to the note is priceless. This shows a father that truly loves his son.
The tenderness on Andri's father's face and his knowing smile should be the response of all the parents in the world to the come out of their gay children. Beautiful short film. Congratulations.
Beautiful location shot at the end with the two boys walking. My favorite part was the dad’s reaction to the note. Then calls to his wife enthusiastically, like he can’t wait to tell her, “Honey! Guess what!…“ Pretty funny.
I am the father of a gay son, he came out to me at 16, I loved him for his confidence and trust in me to fully accept him as he was born, only parents who’s minds have been destroyed by religions would not accept and love their children as they are. If everyone was honest and full of love the world would be a better place.
Religion is corrupted with false knowledge and mistranslations from the Bible. The fact that people believe God doesn't accept homosexuals is just the end for me.
i get a headache, everytime i watch a 'coming out" video and hear a mother and or father say "I' ALREADY KNEW YOU WERE GAY!" I think to myself, why didn't you let your kid know that , he/she was straight or gay , it doesn't matter, as long as you are comfortable with yourself" that woud save years of lgbtq kids suffering, if they know from a young age, that "love is love" and didn't have to cry when they were telling there parents "IM GAY!"
Thanks for adding this vid. Loved how it captured that feeling of angst/excited anticipation when first meeting someone new and how his dad lovingly smiled knowing his son was gay and meeting a potential "on-in-law." Thanks again.
OMG what a beautiful short. It touched on the real cultural awkwardness a normal teenage boy would feel from friends and family. But then for him to gather the courage to see it through in a clean and positive way was truly inspirational. The essence of this miniature signifies a cultural quantum leap in the ongoing evolution of human consciousness.
I like the take that he's online dating a guy. It deviates from the most common trope of suddenly falling in love with someone you already know. Neither is bad or less interesting, but diverse stories are great!
Realmente un hermoso corto... gracias estos videos algunos padres de familia apoyan y otros lo van asimilando d a poco... y me llenó d mucha alegría la actitud d ese padre...🤙🏻
This was wonderful, from writing to directing to the exquisite acting from those playing both parents and son. As for the story, just sublime! Every child should have such loving parents, who stay interested and involved, but let the kid make his own path in his own time. Kudos! 💕
Excellent. I'm tired of short films that either seemingly don't have a logical ending .. or -gay shorts, in particular- that have a sad ending. This one is like a little vacation from all that. Whew. (and Bravo to the filmmakers). (AND the actors!)

Esto fue tan hermoso y la reacción de su padre, me alegra que no lo haya jusgado , ya que hoy en día, deberían entender que a todos los hombres no le gustan las mujeres y viceversa.
What a sensational film! I enjoyed it. Anyway, Andri was hesitant to answer his father's questions whether is a girl and what's her name. He then made an excuse that he was tired and wants to take a nap retreated to his bedroom then secretly setting up with his boyfriend to arrange for a date. He decided to write a little note left it on the table of their living room revealing his boyfriend's name is Tomas. Then left the house on his way to hook up with his boyfriend. When his father picked up that little note, he began to laugh and probably inside of his mind thinking, "Well, I just can't believe that you had a boyfriend." "But that's all right, we understand and we love you." If Andri were to return home, one of his parents will probably ask him, "How was your date going?" "Did you have a good time?' PS. I am a young gay Asian male & proud.
Un film très positif sympathique. Le père dans le film est extraordinaire. Dans ma vie j ai eu de la chance d'avoir des parents formidables. J ai une vie heureuse. Merci à la vie merci à l univers. L amour pour tous ! 🙋💗
I can relate a lot to this film. Apart from it's very well executed audio and cinematography, the writers did an amazing job. I remember when I was this age, sending the same messages., outed, and my family would always ask "When are you bringing a girl with/home?" and I would dodge the question. They honestly portrayed the nervousness of the main actor really well. What he was going through in his head, I felt. I went through it as well. So well done. Bravo. His mom on the phone and not realizing her son dressed up with cologne is sad, but I can relate. Is "halftime" such an issue in Norway? asking for me. Also. That reaction only happens in EU countries. I grew up in South Africa. You remember how Brian drove that car over a speedbump? Like sparks flying and car veering... that's how people react in the rest of the world
Despite his reservations Andri could only written that note if, on some deep level, he knew his parents were going to accept him. What a beautiful film. It took years for my parents to accept my sexuality.

There is so much to love about this film! It’s my second time to watch and it was even better. Beautifully shot, great production values, strong acting, it tells a complete story. Such a sweet short film. Would that all parents could react with joy as their son went on his first date with a boy. For me very poignant as I lived in Reykjavík after college and came out there. I actually lived near the white church.
I loved how the dad quickly smiled and accepted then went to “brag” to his wife. Goals. This is the type of parent I want to be in the future.
