  • While socializing may not directly increase dopamine levels in Parkinson's patients in the same way that medication or deep brain stimulation does, the positive experiences associated with social interaction can indirectly contribute to dopamine release and have beneficial effects on symptom management and overall well-being. Therefore, go on that girls trip or boys trip! Take the family on a weekend getaway or staycation. Don't isolate - continue to foster social connections and maintain an active social life.

You definitely need a group. YOPD or older PD patients. It will help!

That's very interesting. I'm 48 and i was diagnosed with parkinson disease at age of 32. I like this podcast so much .at least we know friends who can understand your daily challenges. I was diagnosed when my two children were kids .it's a real fight.

That's the joy of walking. I get to meet and chat with so many interesting people while I'm "out and about". I really do notice that the more I'm engaged with other people, the less I'm aware of my symptoms and that's great. Plus (as I always preach), the exercise in and of itself does wonders for dopamine levels (via endorphin production). You can't properly fight anything without putting in the effort.

We're famous! Our names listed on this podcast - Thanks for letting us be a part of this. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing time with the 4 of you. We travel a lot & although I am getting more antsy during flights, once we reach our destination(s), I know the excitement of exploring new regions of the world certainly increases my dopamine production.

I've been looking into it. I don't believe the study had a robust number of people on the clinical trial so I think it's too early to tell. Companies like to toss things into the media that sound promising but still with little data to back it unfortunately.
