    Those are old school! I don't even remember the last time I saw Amtrak engines like that.

      Those are 1980s, time era, Amtrak passenger train locomotives.

      F40PH. Loved them. I remember seeing them laid up in the Sunnyside Yards back in the 1980s. The last few GG1s were there too. Great trains, all of them.

    It's like the F 40 PH never was forgotten & still leading AMTRAK. Seeing the AMD 103/ P 42 in Northeast Corridor colors also a legend as well. How many scale model train manufacturers have these. How many do I have of them in HO scale. & of course being pulled by CSX freight engines leading the other freight cars. I call these legends of Amtrak being towed in this video amazing.This video gets a 5 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎥 excellent work Wide World Of Trains. 👍✅

    P40 828 was used at Bear Delaware for training purposes for years and the F40PH we're still on the roster until they were moved..the phase 4 units atleast one of them was stored inside.

      F40PH except the last one that seems to be a GE P42DC (GENESIS), those are still in active service on Amtrak

    828, 402, 408, & 409 were sold to LTEX in 2018. 401 went to BUGX DieselMotive. All appear to have been rebuilt or will be.

      No, no you would have not. They were an electrical nightmare. Junk good riddance. Disclaimer spent time as a Cafe car attendant Conductor and Engineer on them. JUNK

    I used to see thise Amtrak liverys at North Station when I was a kid in Boston. Daily arrival/departures to NYC/ D.C./Philly/Baltimore.

    *All those units were sold to LTEX from amtrack but CSX purchased 4 F40PHs and three of them are used for the OCS train and are B&O paint scheme except for one of them which is CSX 9999 thats in YN3B*

    I know the Amtrak 801 ,803 ,839 are headed to Albia Iowa for some kind of work…..form a couple of other videos ive wastched on here it looks like LTEX purchased a hand full of these old Amtrak unit’s

    I wouldn’t call it a 10 engine train. Sounds like the four CSX units are live, and the six Amtrak engines are dead in tow. But a pretty cool catch none the less.

    Up here in the Appalachian mountains, trains have a cap of like 35 to 40 mph. Seeing a train blast past me when I’m on a trip elsewhere never seems to stop surprising me. They had to be going at least 50mph.

      Come to the California and Arizona and New Mexico deserts on the old Santa Fe or Southern Pacific. It’s not uncommon for a 70++ mph stack train to fly by

      If you want fast trains come to SoCal. High speed passenger trains in the Tustin-San Juan Capistrano and Carlsbad-Solana Beach area travel at a speed of 90 mph

    Really nice NF K5LA! Ones that sound that good are pretty rare now days. Also, what’s happening with the those LTEX F40’s and the P40? Really hope they don’t get scrapped.

    Can someone please explain to me why a csx locomotive can also carry Amtrak ones too and sometimes even other locomotives I’m really confused
