lol I’ve had a zombie lord tribal deck with Narfi as the commander since Kaldheim came out. I was starting magic and I wanted to build zombies and I didn’t really like the other commanders. When I opened my foil alt art Narfi it was to be. Narfi gives me draugr feels from Skyrim and I love it. Is he the greatest zombie commander? Nope! But I love him and the deck and it does win a lot of games. I’ll die on that grav-hill.
I love the idea of that Helga Emerge brew. You don't have as much access to the Scam spells that you get in black, but white is the second best color for that. Imagine chaining those Emerge guys and ending with Brought Back or Faith's Reward.

Mine is also self mill, but I went in a more aristocrats direction, looking for a lot of the constellation effects to get kinda meh enchantments looping. It was a lot of fun

Helga is such a cool commander, that opens up a lot of interesting ways to build. I love the idea of emerge used here. I personally can offer a different idea for helga, but from my goldfishing so far, could be really powerful: Mutate and Clones. Most clones are 4 MV, so perfect for Helga, and if you Mutate Helga you can suddenly push her up to 4-6 Power AND remove her legendary subtype (as the mutate comes on top and then its not Helga but idk, sawtusk demolisher). You can make crazy amounts of mana really early, and if you include some form of untapping, you can actually storm of like crazy.
Black is also excellent for the self-exile strategy. I've got a Belbe Slime Against Humanity deck and using cards like Surgical Extraction, Demonic Bargain and Cadaverous Bloom is a lot of fun! Definitely one of my most powerful decks too
A "unique" build I've been brewing recently is Atla Palani with only one creature in the 99: Worldspine Wurm. Since it makes tokens and goes back to the library upon death, there are lots of loops Palani can do with it.
I'm brewing a similar build to Narfi, still zombies, but using him as a sacrifice outlet for cards like the new flares from MH3. Also, for cards that generate mana when sacrificing Narfi, if you can find a way to make them temporarily snow when they do so, you CAN generate snow mana and make a combo that way!
Love my Bruna. My brother doesn't though lol she's so brutal with just how strong she can get. Add in the protection white can give, and you get a commander that can just wreck out of nowhere!
I went ahead and used rhe Twelfth Doctor for my slimes. Lots of draw-discard, lots of cast from exile effects, and I get to double up slimes while giving a small one to my opponents. It's funny stuff.
Your Narfi idea is perfect for inspiring me to built a deck around my Ebondeath Dracolich, that i have in full art alternative art in foil. I have been trying to figure out how to built him and now I realize that he is almost a reasembling skeleton himself with a little more hoops than Narfi. Im going to try it atleast so Thank you for that idea! I really wanna use this unique card I traded for recently.
Currently trying to build the asmo burn deck and it is quite complex but also really fun. Because rakdos doesn't have that many good food generators it is this balance of finding the stuffy doll burners whilst also generating enough food. Compound that with damage doublers and tripplers because you aren't going to be sacrificing 10 foods, having two foods deal 12 dmg is ideal. Then u can also back it up with a reanimator strategy because u are discarding so much your tutors can be into the grave to either find main pieces or reanimate big and helpful game winners
Dang, that Narfi sounds fun. I've been eyeing him for a while. I have a janky skeleton deck that uses reassembling skeleton and other similar creatures.
I love my Slime Against Humanity decks. One is Wort the Raidmother and the other is Tasigur the Golden Fang both viable and despite both having the same goal, how I get there is unique for each deck
Couldn’t you make an infinite combo with that Narfi deck? It wouldn’t be a GOOD infinite, but here is what I got. Rimefeather owl, Soldevi, Narfi, and Intruder Alarm. Use Rimefeather Owl to put an ice counter on Soldevi, which using the owl’s other ability makes Soldevi a snow permanent. Use Soldevi’s ability to sac Narfi, then with your now 5 black SNOW mana, you revive Narfi. Narfi entering triggers Intruder Alarm, untapping Soldevi. Repeat for infinite mana and infinite death triggers.
My favorite idea for a slime against humanity that ive seen was Katilda and Lier 1/2 persistent petitioners 1/2 slime against humanity. Petitioners let you mill yourself real hard to fuel SAH, and K&L let you flashback a SAH every time you cast a petitioner.
Asmoran is one of my more powerful commanders i have. Unfortunately the deck is completely based on using the cookbook, untapping it and discarding Ovalchase Daredevil just like the modern decks. Copying the cookbook in every way i can, then spitting out affinity cards and artifact effects.. It's probably a pretty standard tactic for asmo (dont know, havent played any other asmo deck yet), but it's fun and your commander is great removal.. The only problem with it is that people exiling your actual commander (the cookbook) is hard to deal with.

I'm trying to build a Firesong and Sunspeaker deck based on using Painter's Servant naming white so I can get extra damage from burn spells. Can anyone confirm that this works? I know Painter's says all cards that aren't on the battlefield, but the ruling says it affects every card in every game zone.
The Narfi guy was totally correct. For a tribal commander he's terrible. A +1/+1 for 5 mana is terrible. SOOO many better zombie commanders, and there really aren't enough snow creatures that are worth playing either. I definitely like his take on the sac ability.
I think these are your more popular video topics because of things like EDH Rec. IMO, EDH rec provides a NET NEGATIVE to the format, at least the current iteration. Would love to hear your opinions on this if you havent discussed it. Might be worthy of a video.

The way they aggregate data leads to stale metas and a generic pool of cards that are mostly staples we've seen for years proliferated across hundreds of different commanders, with no real variety outside of the most obvious inclusions. Edhrec pushes new players into certain boxes for no reason and honestly stifles creativity. IMO

I was playing helga as an untap deck, trying to untap multiple times to build up enough mana to hurricane the table.
But can't the mana it makes only be used for creature spells?
