Mr. Collins, please live to be 100. You continue to have a sound mind, killer personality, an ageless exterior, and priceless music. I am your biggest fan!
Nobody realized this is the guy from YO GABBA GABBA??? My kids loved that show!! I liked them watching it because it had good beats and music that i could tolerate in three background 😆
This man stole my hearts as a teenager back in the 70”s. I got my first Bootsy Collins album , Stretchin Out in Bootsy’s Rubber Band and played “I’d rather be with you and Vanish in Our Sleep so much the tracks were a dusty white color. Thanks for being you and staying positive all these years. Time to go listen to some Bootsy and clean the house. Peace baby bubba…..
@Don'tTaze MeBro- I agree, although I've only seen a handful of these. I think I have nearly everything in his bag (except Rickie Nelson...lol) on LP and/or CD. His enthusiasm for the music is infectious!!
I *loved* this episode! Bootsy's just pulling all kinds o' gems outta his bag. I nearly cried when he took out the last album. Everyone should have a little Sly Stone in their life, baby baba!
One of the best creative decisions in any music documentary was having Bootsy narrate Jimi's journal entries in that one documentary, a truly inspired choice.
This was so sweet! Bootsy always brings the good vibes but a lot of the time you hear/see him in full cartoon character mode. That is fun and is authentic Bootsy but I loved hearing him talk simply and straight from the heart and just bring that big love and enthusiasm. One for the archives for sure
Won tickets to see BB King, with Buddy Guy opening for him. Buddy turned my life upside down that night. I'd been playing guitar for 10 years at that point and never knew pure blues could take you to THAT place. You know the one. Later in life Sam Cooke did that to me with Soul. Recently Bootsy, Rick James and P-Funk taught me Funk could take me to THAT place too. Seeing this amazing man and surreal musician picking up the things that taught me to dig deeper and be open made so much sense. We're all connected, yall. No Sam Cooke, no Bootsy or Steve Perry or Bruno Mars... Man will live and die, but when he learned to record, we found out a way to live forever.
Sooo much great music from that era! I hardly even listen to new music anymore because there’s just too much to discover from the past. I really wish I was born way earlier.
One comment from FRED WESLEY always stuck in my mind..."Bootsy is one of the naturally funkiest people in the world, he could pick up a stick and hit it on aground, and it's gonna be funky". ✌
Somehow I missed this one. That was possibly the best bag of music I’ve seen on here. First thought when he pulled the Meters record out, I would love to witness a conversation between Bootsy and George Porter, Jr.
Damn, I only just found this channel! So many interesting characters. I love seeing what each artist likes outside of their own genre. Great work Amoeba.
Bootsy giving Lonnie Mack, Buddy, Dr. John, The Meters and The Wolf some love...that’s real stuff. Didn’t think I could have more respect for him than I already had. Only thing...Buddy is still alive and well...why are they talking like he’s gone? 😳 Is this a future episode?! I’m I caught in a time warp?! Respect man. Keep on keeping on.
This is the best what’s in my bag I’ve ever seen. This is the best music in the world in my humble opinion. And the Funky Funky Meters!!!! God damnit!!!
Bootsy Collins ! - Wow ! - What a guy ! - So laid back ! - Going with the flow ! - And his sense humour bounclng too & fro off his TV Son ? - One of Omoeba's better shows -Thankyou for sharing your great choice's Mr C !
Bootsy's appearance is so recognisable and so.. out there. But then you hear him speak, and he just sounds like a giddy dude with a massive love for music. That's authentic to me, love to see it.
Ahhhhh "it don't get no better than this." Bootsy right up there in the Pantheon -- his bass playing on "Sex Machine," "Super Bad," not too mention with P- Funk -- clearly a great soul.
Bootsy, Bootsy, BOOTSY! Sure..he has some success with those little P Funk and Rubber Band projects. But can we all take a second to acknowledge the contributions made by DJ Lance Rock?! He’s an ICON! He helped me raise my kids, man!!! My daughter is 15 and STILL rocks a Toodee t shirt! DJLR is a true gangsta!
One of my best memories in music was discovering Bootsy also created music in early house music n funky songs played in Detroit clubs. I thought that was so cool to embrace the new music by someone like him. Good music is good music.
Always loved Boosty, but he gives you such insight into his musical soul. Props Bootsy. Excellent taste. Thanks Amoeba for this insightful series. Keep um comin!!
There will never be another Bootsy, nor will there ever be another George Clinton....I'm glad they can still give us some more great music while they're still here.
I'm impressed that one of my musical heroes the great BOOTSY COLLINS and I have the same taste in music! As an avid listener, serious collector, historian, student, and critic, I own albums from the majority of these brilliant artists. It's obvious that if you're a funk soldier like us, you're going to have this tree of roots to the funk that will always lead you to the ONE!
The vibe in this video is _so_ warm and _so_ beautiful, that I regularly watch it when I need a boost. It’s fitting that Bootsy chose a Sam Cooke Album because Sam’s Music gives me that same kind of feeling; It’s like bathing in warm, golden rays of a Sun that is made of pure bliss. I don’t know what that means. But it sounds right.
Parliament was formed in 1955...Jimi Hendrix died in 1970. He never desired to "join" in the way described. They were around and hot/popular at the same time. Hendrix liked "doing his own thing." He states this in numerous ways. Miles Davis was seriously wanting to collaborate with him...not join. Other never thought what-ifs: "Prince would have joined...James Brown would have joined...Rick James would have joined...Dianna Ross would have joined...Ertha Kitt would have joined...anybody on those albums Bootsy held up would have joined (some musical group after making it).
@Dallas D "2nd rate 70s funk band" are you for real? Do you know the influence Funkadelic, Parliament, Bootsy, George Clinton and the rest had on the eras of music that came after them?! SMDH think before you type. Because passion can easily be morphed into ignorance.
@Evan Wright Where does "potential" come from...video proof by chance. Here is a certain on video. Miles Davis wanted to collaborate with Hendrix..."That...that Machine Gun..." (Miles Davis)
perfect way to explain fifties music. "a certain tragedy in their voices." ive always felt it but could never find the right word this is why we are blessed to have a bootsy and why i am blessed in particular to have known about him in such a young mind and body.
I thoroughly enjoyed the DJ Quik episode. After watching Bootsy I'm a bit torn. I loved it! Gosh, I guess I shouldn't try to pick favorites. There's so much to enjoy!
Second time I watched this. Best selection and coolest clip you will ever do. Bootsy is cool personified, and shows all the signs of being totally real.
Both these dudes cool as a fan! It's nice to see DJ Lance doing grownup stuff, and Bootsy could read me the phonebook (as long as he laughs at the funny-sounding names).
Bootsy Collins has an amazing speaking voice.
Somebody has to make a kid's movie where Bootsy and Iggy Pop play talking alligators.
that would really be great
neonatalpenguin yeesssss
very soothing voice, it reminds me of someone else's voice but I can't remember who that is
Theo Dutra he sounds like 2 chainz lmao
Theo Dutra Jimi Hendrix? That's who I thought
Damn Bootsy Collins can say anything he wants and it always sound smooth. He's the bestest best.
you funkin right
Him snoop and Nate dogg have the best voice
Ummmmmm yessss!!!!
Bootsy is such a postive joyful person! National treasure!
I have the sneaking suspicion that Bootsy is actually immortal.
+Ross Allison Something of a funk syndrome
Funk don't crack.
He is and that's the tea sis
Boots must be a Vampire
One could only hope
"they was too funky for their own good" lmaoooooooo 😭😭 love you bootsy
How can you not love Bootsy? What a thoroughly likeable cat!
He’s magic
Nobody cooler than Bootsy.
The coolest cat of them all!
Gotta love Bootsie's day outfit..
The hat the star glasses..the buttons jacket...and sounds like the most regular friendly guy
Hearing Bootsy speak and (especially) laugh always puts me in a good mood.
Still my favorite lil series on YT.
Thanks Amoeba
+whothennow81 Awesome! Thanks for watching!
+whothennow81 I completely agree. These are great +Amoeba!
+whothennow81 Yeah I love this and Guitar Moves. I'm into some of the cooking ones too.
+whothennow81 I Agree!
If you like WIMB you should check out
NardwuarServiette. He does interviews with musicians in this style.
Bootsy is the funkiest man on earth ....which makes sense because he isn't from this planet.
When someone like Bootsy says you "were too funky for yo' own good" - you KNOW you're good!
bootsy is 64 damn he still look jammin
Joe Webb He is still jamming! He is collaborating with Vulfpeck in November
He looks at least 14 years younger
Mr. Collins, please live to be 100. You continue to have a sound mind, killer personality, an ageless exterior, and priceless music. I am your biggest fan!
Amen. Jusy seems like a lovely Dude.
Man, these series have really made a profound impact on me. Musically speaking.
Great to hear! Thanks!
Me too Javier, me too. Amen!!
There's all American treasures. But then again so is,Bootsue! True amazing classic
Nobody realized this is the guy from YO GABBA GABBA??? My kids loved that show!! I liked them watching it because it had good beats and music that i could tolerate in three background 😆

Bootsy is the coolest human being.
I gotta go listen to some Bootsy Collins now. The guy is just so damn fun.
+jorge palacios this guy puts me in a good mood just by hearing him talk.
How can you not love Bootsy? Always smiling and appreciative of life.
I miss Yo GABA GABA! My son and I would watch this all the time.
Not a single second without a smile on Bootsy's face
Bootsy seems like such a happy and genuine person. His voice is fantastic too!
I love hearing musicians who are such huge fans of other musicians. It is such a joy to come across musicians "musician".
This is one of my fave 'What's in my Bag". Bootsy is the coolest.
Bootsy Collins is style and taste incarnate! I've connected with his musical flavor the most out of all these amoeba videos.
Easily the best overall "What's In My Bag?"
Easily, Kamasi with #2
@Don'tTaze MeBro- I agree, although I've only seen a handful of these. I think I have nearly everything in his bag (except Rickie Nelson...lol) on LP and/or CD. His enthusiasm for the music is infectious!!
BIG BOI is a good one too!
Absolutely the best.
Bootsy really is one humble, appreciative cat. What a cool guy. Real love for music.
Bootsy instantly puts a smile on my face. So chill and smooth.
I *loved* this episode! Bootsy's just pulling all kinds o' gems outta his bag. I nearly cried when he took out the last album. Everyone should have a little Sly Stone in their life, baby baba!
For me, the tears came when he respected THE METERS. He knows where he comes from and no cat who thinks they are funky can't ignore THE METERS!!!!!!!
One of the best creative decisions in any music documentary was having Bootsy narrate Jimi's journal entries in that one documentary, a truly inspired choice.
This is dearly appreciated. Long live the music.
+HERBnSOUL thanks for watching.

Cj Williams That was beautiful and profound, sir
Damn straight. One more aside; hakuna matata
Sooo much great music from that era! I hardly even listen to new music anymore because there’s just too much to discover from the past. I really wish I was born way earlier.
....so good to see a man tuned in to good energy...
One comment from FRED WESLEY always stuck in my mind..."Bootsy is one of the naturally funkiest people in the world, he could pick up a stick and hit it on aground, and it's gonna be funky". ✌
What a well rounded musician and listener Bootsy Baby!
Can't believe I missed Bootsy play near my hood like two yrs ago, shoulda called off work that day!⚡🤖⚡
Somehow I missed this one. That was possibly the best bag of music I’ve seen on here. First thought when he pulled the Meters record out, I would love to witness a conversation between Bootsy and George Porter, Jr.
Bootsy is too good!He has that humility and acknowledges all his influences from other great artists. Amazing person 💖💖💖
Damn, I only just found this channel! So many interesting characters. I love seeing what each artist likes outside of their own genre. Great work Amoeba.
Thanks for checking us out!
A visit with the funkiest man in town...Thank you for posting this...yeah, Bootsy..
Bootsy giving Lonnie Mack, Buddy, Dr. John, The Meters and The Wolf some love...that’s real stuff. Didn’t think I could have more respect for him than I already had.
Only thing...Buddy is still alive and well...why are they talking like he’s gone? 😳
Is this a future episode?!
I’m I caught in a time warp?!
Respect man. Keep on keeping on.

Lonnie Mack and Howlin Wolf! Wow you never know who you will inspire ❤️
Listening and dancing to music iiiiiiis AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!
+Graham Kristensen Nothing better! It's why I get up in the morning.
Bootsy bass is so timeless, it works for me in 2018 just like it did in the 70s.
Bootsy is the type of dude to make you smile even when your having a shit day 😂
Bootsy Collins ! - Wow ! - What a guy ! - So laid back ! - Going with the flow ! - And his sense humour bounclng too & fro off his TV Son ? - One of Omoeba's better shows -Thankyou for sharing your great choice's Mr C !
This made my day!!! Much Love & Respect
This was dope -- Love Bootzilla!
Bootsy's appearance is so recognisable and so.. out there. But then you hear him speak, and he just sounds like a giddy dude with a massive love for music.

buying all these records i don’t own yet, bootsy is an absolute musical icon and speaks some major truth !!
Bootsy YOU were my childhood Super Hero!!!
"it wasn't about just playing behind the vocalist" is my new favorite music quote. Carries so much meaning nowadays
Cameron Dixon Amen to that fo real thou
what a cool guy. hes so chill and laidback. exactly the kind of people i like.
I'm impressed that one of my musical heroes the great BOOTSY COLLINS and I have the same taste in music! As an avid listener, serious collector, historian, student, and critic, I own albums from the majority of these brilliant artists.

I don’t know what that means.
But it sounds right.
The best 'What's in my bag' hands down... wonderful stuff :)
I just have that feeling that Jimi Hendrix would have joined the Parliament in a second, if he'd only have lived long enough.

That Pryor boxset is pretty great stuff.
@Evan Wright Where does "potential" come from...video proof by chance. Here is a certain on video. Miles Davis wanted to collaborate with Hendrix..."That...that Machine Gun..." (Miles Davis)
Nuttin but Love and Funk babe!
So incredibly cool to watch these two together!
superfly is such a legendary soundtrack/record
love his voice and accent ❤
as I expected, I knew I could discover funk blues pioneers like Mayfield, Howlin' wolf and Sam Cooke.
Mr Collins is the GREATEST, so great to see his collection--Dr. John., The Meters, so great.
perfect way to explain fifties music. "a certain tragedy in their voices." ive always felt it but could never find the right word this is why we are blessed to have a bootsy and why i am blessed in particular to have known about him in such a young mind and body.
Tasty musical taste! Bootsy is the man! Really great information and tasty talk. Thank you world famous Amoeba!
I could listen to Bootsy reading the Phone Book.
I could listen to Bootsy talk forever ever.
Bootsy is a legend! What wouldn't i give to meet him one day 🙏🏿 veeery good taste in music btw🔥
super bien de voir les groupes et artistes qui ont marqué Bootsy , je le trouve très humble sous ses dehors extravagants
Bootsies episode might be my favorite! I listen to most of those records that he got all the time! Representing the 'Nati!
Love me some Bootsy baby ❤
it's like he's picking from my collection.
phenomenal taste, from and incredible musician.
I love the way Bootsy says the word "funky".
Love this series
Damn Hendrix music is just as cool now as when I first heard it. It's so epic, groovy, and original.
Both these dudes cool as a fan!
It's nice to see DJ Lance doing grownup stuff, and Bootsy could read me the phonebook (as long as he laughs at the funny-sounding names).
Bootsy is the happy joyful version of Dolemite.
A flawless legend.
Groove IS in the heart baby.
When someone lives their life doing what they love and inspires them, they never grow old.
Pure love for music
loved hearing his stories
What a great interview. Bootsy Collins is the coolest person to ever live. Lance Rock is a great host too, awesome job.
Got to meet DJ Lance at an Aquabats show years ago. He was a sweetie, and he's grown up real handsome!
Im always in a better mood after hangin out with Bootsy
This is the best one I've seen
Anyone who has ears and good taste knows Ray Charles records taught so many how to sing and play. Mad respect.
Clicked on this for Bootsy and got DJ Lance Rock as a bonus!
Def my favorite one so far!
Bootsy is like happiness in human form
