- "Talented" is a weird word. Sometimes it kind of feels like all the hours spent practising is shrugged away
I'm not a naturally talented painter or artist especially in the warhammer 40k circles, but I do put the work in
Painting every day for a video, commission, or myself I'm still painting and trying to get better. That practice and grind is what is leveling up the models paint jobs
So when I say "you can 100% paint like me" you can take that to the bank. You got this. Paint something today, paint something tomorrow, then one day, you can show me how to paint warhammer 40k models

For some reason.....I now feel like painting some warhammer.
Do it it's fun but practice makes perfect I started like a year ago took a break then started again

I’ve cried from both music and painted miniatures, sure, music can touch you deeply, but a metal Space Marine chucked at your head at the tender age of 8 can have the same Effect!
As a new person that just got their first minis but is too afraid to pick up the brush, this is very encouraging
What are you scared of its just a brush and paint you can always strip it if you mess up, don't be a lame coward

ive been painting for around 7 months now and i had the same mentality as u when i started out, so dont be!!!! painting isnt as difficult to start as it seems

I can paint eyes with pretty shaky hands. The limit is the sky guys, you all can be pretty good painters, it takes time and practice but you will get there. I'm capable of display levels of painting after a lot of years in the hobby, and man did I suck and hated painting, but I got slowly but steadily better and even now I keep constantly improving.

Showcase your first painted mini. If you don't have it, then the earliest painted mini that you have. Would give a good contrast to compare with your current work.

I started painting minis about 2 years ago but only discovered your channel recently and was inspired to try some synthwave painting, I'm definately a lot better than I used to be in general but im a long ways off the level you're at, just gonna keep working at it tho, thanks for the inspiration 😄

I’ve been paint for about a half a year, but I’ve been told my painting is beyond amazing like I’m some professional painter. It’s different people have different starting points, but even the worst of painters can get there if they practice. My one friend doesn’t think he can paint well, but I showed him my first model, and some poor model paint jobs online. That actually motivated him quite a bit to directly see he’s not as bad as he thought.
I'm still working on painting, but I'm getting a lot better with more and more practice. Went back and touched up a Skraggrot model recently and it's just INCREDIBLE how much better my second pass at the model years later was. One thing I'm working/focusing on now is basing, and man. Just as many things to learn and a whole new slew of tips and tricks. But very happy that my recent bases have looked like something that makes me proud.
I don't typically like the style you go for but I can appreciate the advanced technique and skill you use
Just started on new year with a gift my mom gave me and its hard but its satisfying to see work done. And so long as you enjoy it the work is worth it.

Honestly hate it when people say its "talent", when in fact its mostly just hours on hours put into experimenting and actually applying yourself to the arts.
Same goes for music etc

Huge believer in this message. I'm not pro, but I get commission jobs and am pretty respected in the local painting community. I always pitch online tutorials and practice. Talent is being willing to pick up the brush, learn, and experiment.
I have the first 2 models i painted on a bookshelf in my room near my door, i see them every time i got to leave. I put soem of my more recently painted minis near them just so i can see how far I've come and how much I've improved.

I think I do have a good bit of talent, but I’m currently in college, so I haven’t had the time or money to improve recently. I’m excited for when I get out because I do think I’ll be able to get to a level that I can really be proud of. I’m pretty good right now in my area, but I’m excited to put in some effort and really be proud of my stuff
Airbrushes help a lot as well. That's definitely my next purchase I've been painting everything by hand. Can I do iron warriors and harlequins but mostly eldar and dark eldar. Caution stripping by hand is rough

Striping by hand is a special kind of hell that I commend you for going through. Iron Warriors players really do exemplify their legion

To anyone that doubts his words, I recently showed my roommate three different models. My first model, a model I painted in 2020, and a model he watched me progress through. I can see a clear difference in my first model and most recent, but he can see I've improved "leaps and bounds" between all three models. Try new things with your models, especially if they're generic models that most people pass over, thats how you improve, find a new style so you can break out of artistic crutches. Thats the beauty of this hobby too, you can paint YOUR way, with your skill, style, materials, and experience. Just keep pushing paint around, and you dont even have to buy models, sometimes changing the medium helps too
Nope. I have painted like 30 models. I suck as much as the beginning. Tried many things, many techniques, gave myself break etc. Not everyone can do everything as pro.
I very much feel.the same way. Im 3 years down my journey and i still feel i have a long way to go.
I got to agree because Im an engineer by trade and really just could do math. In my early years I had no creative skills. But studying color theory and how lighting works those fundamentals really helped my growth as a painter.

Hey love all the colorful looks. Question, 40K minis like imperial guard might look out of place. How would you work in beautiful color and style like yours into something like a guardsman, leman russ etc.

I have a good tip for Orks! Paint a layer of red below the green! Since flesh and blood are naturally red, skin has an inherent redness under it!
Most people see pros do smooth effortless things but don't see the hours of practice that went in to get there.
From personal experience, everyone sucks at something until you don't. You keep working at it until you stopping sucking. I love your paint jobs by the way.

I recently messed up an ice base of mine, but I wont let it get to me. Already thinking of ways I can fix it and worst comes to worst ill just keep him at the back of the squad 😅
Talent determines the speed at which you can learn and be good at something, if you are bad at painting it will take you much longer than someone with natural talent in painting, But doesn't make it impossible.
I know it took me a lot of practice and shaming myself to finally paint my minis
Me, after 10 years of trying, and them looking worse as time goes on "......WHEN DOES IT START GETTING BETTER" lol
I do not fear painting infantry i fear the big Center pieces.
In mind: Am i good enugh no not yet i need 5 more infantry units to get better.

If it wasnt such an expensive and time consuming hobby I'd be on it
check out Kill Team or Warcry. usually one box gets you sorted and in!

I've been painting for 4 years my models don't seem to look any different 😂 my bases are the only thing that seems to have gotten better over time
What do you used to "glue" the head to paint it ?

I know someone who gave up warhammer just because there model didn't look good
a good friend of mine who has played for years but wont paint because he knows he wont be good at it. all types in the hobby 😅
Your painting style isn’t even the hardest I’ve seen, it’s great but in most of your videos most of the colors come from an airbrush. Don’t mistake my comment as a criticism or mean spirited your great at painting all I’m saying is that your art is great but simple keep up the good work
Alas, this may remain a skill beyond me, its not practice as much as time. I have an autistic son, and time is the one resource I can never attain enough of.

Ehhh. Once again. Talent is ability to learn particularly thing FASTER than average Joe. Yeah. Do I learn guitar MUCH faster than painting ? Yes sir yes. I have the same approach in learning really. Some folks can't progress to pro's level and let that sink

Went to my first killteam tournament n won best painted out of 10 ppl but man.. u should've seen my 1st set of space marines that I bought last summer lol, compared to today's painting n I had no idea I was going to win was my 1st attempt at basing lol
