- DSTV INSTALLATION
The Word DSTV simply means Digital Satellite Television which is a Sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite service owned by Multichoice. This company started providing services to their numerous subscribers estimated around 11.9 million as from 1995.
STEPS TO FOLLOW
Buying of the DSTV SET, which comprises of the HD Decoder, 90cm Dish, a roll of Coaxial cable, and necessary connectors like F-Connector.
CHOOSING A BEST LOCATION TO MOUNT YOUR DSTV DISH
The important thing you must remember is that for you to get DSTV Signal very well, you must mount the Dish to face the East-Direction. Now, regardless of your environment, for you to know your East Direction from anywhere you are, is simply identifying the direction of Rising of the Sun.
Now, make sure there is no tree, building, or high tension electric wire very close to where you want to mount the Dish otherwise, it will block the signal.
YOUR DSTV CAN BE MOUNTED ON THE BUILDING WALL OR THE DASH BOARD
The best place to fix your dish is on the building wall or on the top building concrete platform because it will be very firm not to be pushed down by the breeze or the rain.
Now, fix the bracket and the pole as shown below and tight them very well with 13 or 14 spanner as the case may be required.
Now, attach the 90cm assembled blue dish on top of the bracket.
Next, attach your satellite finding meter to the dish so as to enable you track a very high signal point.
GO INSIDE THE HOUSE AND CONNECT THE DSTV DECODER TO THE TV
Ok, when you open the decoder carton, you will see the DSTV Decoder box, HDMI wire, AV wire, Remote control with the battery and the Power Adapter plug. Connect everything properly, fix the coaxial cable with the F-Connector and attach it to the LNB IN Port at the back of the Decoder.
Now, the coaxial cable attached to the LNB IN should go outside and fixed at the LNB port on top face of the dish while the HDMI cable will go into the TV HDMI port or the AV wire respectively and the Power cord going into the socket for power supply.
NOW POWER-ON THE DSTV DECODER
Note, as you on your DSTV decoder, the first thing it will do is to boot, after booting you will this first time Installation Wizard displays on your screen.
So, just follow the prompt message and continue. Therefore, if your language is English,Press OK.
This is step 2 of 5, use your DSTV remote and change the IS20 to E36B and Press OK to continue as shown in the TV.
When you press ok, it will take you to step 3 of 5, and this will appear as seen in the screen.
So, use your remote and select the Manual Setup and not Quick Setup. After doing that Press OK and it will land you into the Step 4 of 5 where you will be shown the Tuner 1 Signal Status and Tuner 2 Signal Status as displayed in the video above.
Now, this is the stage where you need to move outside and do your signal tracking with the dish, because this Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 will help you to know when exactly you have gotten the signal of the DSTV SATELLITE. Therefore, immediately you move outside, raise the tuning nob of the Satellite Finder to number 5 and start moving your dish in an UP and DOWN direction, once you reaches the signal point, the meter will sound very high the value will increase from 5 to 10 and above. Then, start tightening your dish’s bolts and nuts very well. At this point, when you go inside, will observe the Tuner 1 and Tuner 2 Signal Status filled with blue lines as shown in the video above.
Now, you have done a very great work indeed because you have rightly gotten the Signal with which the DSTV Decoder will be able to run a full Scan of all the Channels contained in DSTV network.
Note, at this stage, if you do not get the Signal very high, the DSTV decoder will not be able to scan any Channel at all. So, you MUST work very hard to ensure you get it right and you are good to go.
Now Press OK in the remote to make the decoder to Start Scanning all the Channels.
Immediately the DSTV decoder finish scanning, it will automatically start showing the Channel 100 which is the FREE Channel and now you can call the customer care lines to open the remaining Channels for you or you can as well send in a Text message ” RESET one space IUC NO send to 30333” if the DSTV Decoder has been Activated then, all the Channel in that bouquet will start showing in no distant time. congratulations!!! You have done it. You will start viewing all your Channels.

If my tv and decoder has been damged by lightning, will be dish lnb be damaged as well? Recently got a new tv and decoder but shows no signal

Lightning is serious business. If it strikes power lines, the electricity follows those power lines, potentially into your home. If lightning strikes your house, it travels along your wiring. From there, the spike in electricity hits every electronic device and appliance plugged in to an outlet, which is how it arrives at your LCD TV.
I'm not sure how strong was your case...! It's probably the fact that it started from the dish 📡 first and it travelled to the TV and the decoder!
I advise you to visit the nearest Dstv dealer for further clarifications.

Pls, i saw two bar loading one is signal strength and the other signal quality, so which number/percentage is best for the signal strength/quality
It all depends on where you are... It's generally hard to get 100% efficiency
But 85% 90% is ok
Just check which is the maximum number attained before you decide to choose the final strength... Try to close the receiver at maximum repeated numbers... The higher the better!

Just adjust the dish and ask someone to watch the signal strength desplayed in your TV! Until you see the bars are stable at a certain maximum number attained... You decide to rock it there... ! Mind that the maximum number varies from one place to another, depending on the location of your satelite and the dish...!
