Headcanon: the asshole adventurer is actually Ben the Bandit. He became so self-aware that he started acting the part of a player

@@killerwolf9409 Obviously Ben the adventurer was once an adventurer until he started crafting wares for other adventurers and accidentally became an NPC in the process. Unable to understand his sudden change, he became a mugger until his past life kept bringing him back to the realization that he lived in a digital world. Eventually Ben's NPC programming became corrupt sending him to a void digital world where he can only appear when other adventurers came across him as other NPC's regarded him as a crazed maniac... Duh

I actually think I’ve said that to someone before when I worked in customer service. On occasion my mouth would get the better of me and I’d just have to hope I didn’t get written up.
@@nurse0857 I was well known for not putting up with customer's attempts at jokes. If they were good jokes, fine. If not I was not going to fake laugh for them.
A table of five 40 something women sat down. First 3 ordered steak Mid Rare, I tell all 3 "Out mid rare is barely warm to the touch and red all the way through, does that sound right?"
So far so good. The 4th lady also orders Mid Rare, I repeat myself and the 5th lady speaks up and says "Yeah! She likes her steak like she likes her men!" and she starts laughing like it's the best joke in the world.
I look right at her and say "What do you mean? Dead, barely warm, and bleeding?"
I still don't understand what she meant to this day. She appreciated my reply as much as I did her joke (not at all).
I fucking hate people, yet I somehow made the best money in the franchise as a server. I think people gave me extra money as a "sorry I was an idiot" tax.
I'm starting to wonder if the dumb mugger knows the smart mugger is in danger of being self-aware, and resets his programming by asking him what they are.

Bernard the mugger wanting to rob a dragon, reminds me of Skyrim thieves walking up to my Dragonborn wearing a fully enchanted dragon bone set with a sword and shield and asking me to hand my gold if I want to live. Oh those sweet summer children.

I’m not gonna lie, that first scene was almost terrifying. The churning in the background along with the constant repeating dialogue was almost nightmarish.
Existential horror. Like the time the fisherman was being bullied and his eyes were screaming while he had this simple grin on his face. Or when the woodcutter was made briefly self aware that he had been chopping forever.

I like the existential episodes, they always make me laugh repeatedly.
I get the feeling that if an NPC becomes fully aware and breaks NPC rules, they lose the ability to respawn. As in, if you forsake the constraints of being an NPC, you also lose the BENEFITS. This would mean Bernard is as self aware as Greg, but keeps resetting his friend in order to keep him alive. Asking him what muggers do is not enough to keep him reset for long though, so Bernard makes sure that when his friend is getting too self-aware, he suggests mugging something that can kill them in order to respawn the both of them. This also explains why Greg still follows the rules of quest giving, companionship, and shop-keeping. If he refuses to talk, tries to leave the adventurer, or doesn’t buy an adventurer’s junk, he would lose his respawn, which would mean he’d be able to die permanently. We’ve seen that he, as well as others like the blacksmith, can change the code. We saw this when they competed in whose quest marker was bigger.

I think what I love most about NPC man is he wants to help. No matter the player or how they treat him. All he wants is to assist you as best he can to fulfill your quest.

I've actually seen this happen for both WC and for RFC
Used to dual spec as a Shadow/Holy Priest in WoW back in the day so I could grab all the dps spots when healer spots were taken care of. Was nice.
Ever play FFXIV? It's hard to get a tank and DPS in the same duty at the same time

@@adarkwind4712 Legend of the Seeker was ruined the first time (main characters father is suddenly his brother (and blonde, apparently), and his sister isn't supposed to be introduced until MUCH later, but shows up in the first season I believe). Only good part (arguably) about that show was the casting, and only for a few characters at that (Kahlen, Zed, and Ra'al). What a complete train wreck. Would ABSOLUTELY LOVE if it got the GoT treatment, tho. We need it done justice. Seriously one of the best books I've ever read (probably the best, actually - after reading these books they literally ruined other authors for me; they're just all over the place compared to Goodkind's focused storytelling). The Sword of Truth, for anyone interested. Amazing books.

I love all the VLDL actors but I have say that Ben took the top spot with his facial expressions.
I must say this fellas made youtube a happy and original place again. The muggers duo is really the best concept of comedy I've seen on this platform for many years. And what a skill on acting.

I rewatch the 1st skit a lot bc I laugh so hard every time at Ben's facial expressions as he slowly figures out what's going on! He does the expressions so well you can totally tell what his character is thinking 😂
