I’m going to see if my engine bay fuse box has an empty slot. I just need it for after market lights. But thanks for the video and explaining how to use the fuse tap.
Awesome video! Thank you! QQ: If piggybacking on an existing fuse. Does it matter which way around you put the plug onto the fuse socket? My understanding is that the part that has the wire coming out of it is what takes the power to the camera which is going through the fuse(which burs out if the devise shorts). So the pin that's furthest away from that is the live. To know which side is live I could assume is the side that on the empty slots has a metal part right? So I think I may have answered his question by asking it.... hmm
To be sure which side of the fuse box is live, you can purchase a small mains tester pen. The current will light up the bulb in the pen. Alternatively you can use a multimeter.
I have empty fuse slots. However my fuse tap includes a 15 fuse. How would I know if the empty one would be able to supply the power without causing something to go wrong in the fuse box? I found both an empty ACC slot and an empty Battery slot. I’m just worried that if I insert a fuse with 15 will cause something to go wrong.
I plan on tapping into cigarette lighter fuse for a dash cam. Does it .matter what orientation fuse tap goes into fuse box? In other words, tap fuse prongs could get inserted right side up or upside down?
no both ways round are fine if you are using 2 fuses with the fuse tap. if you only use one in the top for your device it will only work one way round.
Hi I want to have constant power on my dash cam even if the car is off .if I join the of these piggy Red cables together..one goes in the fuse slot for cigarette lighter and one end goes to my handbrake fuse socket (Audi handbrakes are just a switch with power always live in it)will my cigarette lighter 12vport will also be constantly live? If yes that’s where I can plug my cam .
thanks for the video. I fused tap my dashcam to an empty fuse slot. the problem is, it's a very tight place so the fuse it's a little bent. the camera does operates normally. but after a while it's been recognized as mass storage. my guess is, becaus the fuse tap is forcly inserted to the slot, is slowly goes out a little bit, which causes for less power. I looked for another "safe fuses" to tap into. but they either active when the car is off. or they are also in a a tight place. I'm talking about corolla 2007. any ideas how to fix the "mass storage issue" thanks.
The mass storage issues is actually the usb port trying to transmit data. You can order a usb adapter that blocks the data channels, or purchase a cable that doesn't support data transfer.
Saw your video thanks, I have a couple of questions that hopefully you can help me. If you have an empty slot can you connect a 25 amp fuse? I have two battery dash cam battery pack and two other devices I would like to power on (4 in total). My idea was to put a recoil bus terminal (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08C9MXVFQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) inside near the fuse box. Then connect a tap a fuse with a ring at the end to it. Then connect the 4 devices to the terminal. So the add a fuse tap will power the terminal and terminal will power on the devices. My last question is if I use a 25 amp fuse for the above will each device get a max of 6.25 amps or each one will get 25 amps if all of them are getting power on.
this all depends upon your fuse box rating and feeds to the fuse box. I would recommend that you use a relay but you might find a fuse for heated seats or something like that for 30amps in the fuse box or there could be empty relay places in the fuse box that you could use. what car is it all going into?
Good vid. Very straight forward. Once I located my ACC and battery load fuses, I felt much more confident about the dash cam mounting.

good lesson. i make car fuse and fuse tap .
If the positive goes into the piggy back fuse ( positive wire for ex light or gauge) , does the negative just go to ground? Do I have it right?
Exactly just find a bolt going to the body of the car and use it as a ground.
Can you use a bolt that already has something already grounded or do you have to find a new ground point?

👍
Great job. Thanks hopefully I have an empty hot slot
Can I piggyback two fuses of the same rating
I wouldn't. just use 2 different fuses in the board to be safe.
Can I use a 3 amp instead of 2 amp?
you can use any value fuse for powering your gadget or whatever as long as it is lower the the original you removed
I was wondering how do you get the other wire connected to the fuse tap do you clamp it in?
Use a bullet connector or solder the 2 wires together or crimp connectors. All depends on what's on the fuse tap wire.

hi how do u know what amps to use for empty fuse slot?
You only need to use a low amp fuse 10amp max I would say.
@@MADMODS Thanks, is it bad if I used 15amp fuse?
It took u 4 minutes to provide 15 seconds of useful information
How to use fuse tap safely? Without showing the correct attachment of the earth!

you could tap 2 fuses and run 2 devices of each tap.
