I’ve never eaten tongue but, we bought some bulk beef which included tongue. I’ve kept it frozen while contemplating HOW to cook it. Thank you for showing me in a step by step way what to do. I really appreciate that you are a “waste not, want not,” person too
That looks great! I grew up in L.A. and live in Texas now. Tacos are an absolute staple. I’ve cooked lengua tacos a couple times, but I’ve never done it with the instant pot before. I have a beef tongue thawing right now, and Lord willing, will cook it using your method tomorrow! Thank you!
@@SaltyCocina It was great! I served them with shredded lettuce, and rice and beans on the side. I’ve gotten pretty good at the rice. I cook it plain in the instant pot with just water and salt. And after it’s cooked, I stir in some fat (this time I used some of the broth from the lengue ) and cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, and a can of tomato paste. Sometimes if I have powdered tomato bouillon I use that instead. It’s good! And the beans I cooked in the lengue broth, also using the instant pot. It does dried beans in 30 minutes!
Growing up I had beef tounge on ocaision. I loved making sandwiches with the leftovers. So tender and rich flavored. Thank you for bringing back wonderful memories.
This looks easy except I'll add Smokes papreka and chilly powder to the mix before cooking. Enen take some cooking liquid and reduce to a sayse adding hot chillies and tomato to make a sayse on top.
Lengua tacos are the perfect,,but chive and pescadero are pretty dang good. Awfully hard to find lengua tacos here in Montana though. We raise million of beef ,,but 95 percent are shipped out of state to butcher,,hence,,not many tongues available.
The price is on the packages in the video - first one from Cardenas Market is $9.99 a pound - cost is $31.47 total. The second one from Walmart is $7.38 a pound for a total of $25.14.
@@The_Timinator I'm with you on the prices. Luckily I don't have an interest in eating tongue and I def would choose something cheaper. But the video was really interesting.
@@The_Timinator Yikes! I wouldn't be able to be around the eyeballs and brains! I watch Asian dramas and when they say "fish kidney curry is my favorite" (for example) I know if I traveled there I'd have problems! How nice to be taking care of your mom and sorry to hear about your dad passing.

Reminds me of lunch in Phoenix, Az - found a Mexican restaurant, and one of the items on the menu was "lengua burro". Delicious.
My favorite meat of all time ❤️ Thank God my mother was a farmer’s daughter!

Looks delicious and your husband is a good actor 😄
He is definitely shy on camera!
Beef cheeks and tongue chopped together are a ut of this world
Do you have a recipe for beef heart? I’ve not fixed this cut before just thought I’d ask.
How about a real pressure cooker? At what psi? How long? Serious questions 😅
Can you just add one tongue? If we do, would everything else stay the same (ingredients and cooking time)?

Are you referring to smoked paprika?
@@SaltyCocina yes. Just can't type or spell. 😂
Made many of your recipes including cabeza but I don't think I can do tongue
Followed the recipe, delicious but I added 3 teaspoons salt to the pressure cooker.

@@The_Timinator Haha I'm from the West Coast and my grandma used to feed me the same things - tongue and liver. I do not eat any of that now!!

I had them once when I was younger but the meat wasn’t tender it was spongey and I just couldn’t handle the texture
