    Honestly Ben I think this deal is great for all parties. The most shocking part about the deal for me is that Rodon turned down premier league interest to join which of course is absolutely wonderful news for us Leeds fans.

    The cost of failing to get promoted! When you're a 1st season parachute side then you can use it as a chance to refresh the team and build it around younger players. When you're a 2nd year (and beyond) side then suddenly your best assets become very realistic targets for Premier League clubs

    As a leeds fan, its good business, take the sentiment out of it , he had release clause in his contract , it was met , simple as that, if he hadnt then its another conversation , Roden returns , great news, good luck next season Ben , fingers crossed ipswich dont spend silly money, look at sheffield on archer and hamer didnt go well

      Blade here, You are right about Archer but Hamer has potential, I don’t regret us buying him, he is a work in progress. Your main point was correct though. I can wish you good luck for promotion since I don’t see us being in the top two and we are never lucky in the play offs. I actually enjoy the Championship more than the Premier League as it reminds me of the old 1st Division, a more even contest.

    Ben, this wasn't that unexpected he had a release clause if Leeds failed to get promoted. 30m plus Rodon isn't exactly a disaster. Been supporting Leeds for 50 years plus so nothing is a surprise (aside from Massimo Cellino 😫!!).

    Good point about Sessegnon and Clarke, I was thinking the same. I think Brentford actually would have been a better move for Gray's development but I still think he will be a future star whatever happens. The deal with Spurs will work work nicely for Leeds as we do need Rodon back for next season at least. Either way it's sad to see any promising player with the Gray legacy have to leave to balance the books 😥

      @@biosynthetic6133 Spurs fan here. I think things didn't work out with Sess and Clarke cause they were both bought at our most turbulant period after the CL final. Poch barely got to coach either of them before he was gone and then both had to endure Mourinho/Conte who don't even try to develop young players also Sessegnon's injury problems were terrible. I think if both were 18 now and joined us with Ange in charge things would have worked out a whole lot better

    • @biosynthetic6133
      @biosynthetic6133 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@mellowfellow4956 Yeah I mean I expected Sess to go pretty far in his career but I knew it would be a bad move for Jack. 10 million at the time just seemed like a punt from Spurs but I guess a lot of teams would have done the same, I thought he was worth more but we needed the ££. Kinda knew he would just get loaned back to the championship (although he is tearing it up there now), but Archie is a different breed. Highly intelligent and versertille footballer reads the game very well for such a youngster, haven't seen a talent like this at Leeds since James Milner at 16. You have a real coup, for 40 million it's a bargain.

    Very sad why it’s had to happen, but I do agree it is a short-term positive if promotion is the target. If it was £20m this would be horrific. The price he was sold for is closer to Endrick / Vini Jr to RM at 18. So, a reluctantly made good deal.

    Spurs fan here. Absolutely over the moon with signing Archie Gray. If there was one player from the championship best suited to Ange ball it would he him. The bravery and maturity he has shown already at 18 is gonna suit us to a tee plus he can already play multiple positions in midfield for us as well as inverted rb in a pinch. I think people will be pleasantly surprised with how much he plays too as he will certainly get opportunities to impress in the cups and the Europa league and it will be a matter of time until he is a fixture in the side like we have seen with our other players last season in Udogie, Van de Ven, Sarr etc...

    Sessegon and Clarke signed during the era of Spurs having lost their identity. They as players didn’t fit during the turgid play of Jose, Nuno, and Antonio. Sessegon and Clarke were seen as club signing nor wanted by those managers and didn’t get the chances they should have plus Sessegon had huge injuries which were very unfortunate.
    Now Spurs are playing attacking, possession based football from the academy to the first team, their is a consistent philosophy now which has been affirmed as the long term style of the club and they will only sign managers who fit into this mold. Ange and the recruitment team pursued Archie for weeks and sold him on his role in midfield ( I think he will be worked in as a 6 at the base of midfield at least rotationally this season). Archie is a big Celtic fan which helped convince him because he knows Ange from his time at Celtic.
    I back Archie and Spurs to be successful and flourish together and perhaps Archie’s brother Harry may follow him to Spurs as he is a talent as well.

    Leeds really do need the money. They owe a lot. If they don't sort it out now, they'll not only be away from the Premier League for quite some time, but they'll be facing a heavy points deduction and looking at a return to the Championship as their next medium term target. They should consider themselves lucky to have a player they can sell for this much, and in fact have several. Most Championship clubs do not, never mind a remaining squad still well above average even without those players.

Long Term, they have just received the largest ever sponsorship deal in EFL history with Red Bull, 200M over 3 years. The owners are very well versed in successful sports ownership & have immense backing in the sporting world.
