The greatest thing about watching Freddie is that you just know he’s having the best time every single time and it just makes you have the greatest time every single time! He’s such a joy to watch! Such a legend!!!! ♥️
Freddie’s yellow jacket is famous. He majored in art and worked with a stylist to create his costume of the pants and jacket based on opera military costumes he’d seen in Spain.
Perfection is the only way to describe Queen. All of this live with no electronic gadgetry to back them up, just pure talent and passion. Each member a genius in their own right, all coming together and creating……… well, PERFECTION!!💯
ALL should watch this whole concert. This was their last live performance and they KNEW IT!!! PLEASE watch the whole 2 HOURS. HE LEAVES IT ALLLLLL ON THE STAGE!!!
Re. Freddie's yellow jacket .....it is iconic! It was last sold in 2004 at an auction for $49,000. His statue in Montreux, Switzerland has him donning this iconic jacket.
This was part of their Magic worldwide tour in ‘86, the first tour that they’d played where they’d made a profit as revealed by Brian May in interview. Alas, the last time they toured 😢. This show was 1 of 2 at Wembley Stadium both of which sold out within just a few hours of tickets going on sale (before the advent of the internet remember) and again BM revealed demand was SO HIGH they’d have probably sold-out 5/7 nights had the stadium been free to host them. So over two nights they played to approx 150,000 and as an extra at the tail end of this tour they played at a rock conference at Knebworth Park where it was estimated that they played to 350,000!!
Saw Freddie live Aug 1980 and i will tell you it was the highlight of my life and nothing to compare. Then i was fortunate to see Queen w/ AL in Aug 2019 almost 29 years to the date. Great show but there will never be another Freddie.
Very early on in his performance career, Freddie was struggling to remove his mic from it's stand and the stand broke in two. He felt so comfortable using the mic stand that he decided to keep it and actually went on to have specially balanced stands made and thus an iconic imagery was born. Queen did the full soundtrack for Highlander, songs include Princes Of The Universe, Who Wants To Live Forever, Give Me The Prize, It's A Kind Of Magic and One Year Of Love etc. Etc. They all wrote songs for it.
ALL should watch this whole concert. This was their last live performance and they KNEW IT!!! PLEASE watch the whole 2 HOURS. HE LEAVES IT ALLLLLL ON THE STAGE!!!
ALL should watch this whole concert. This was their last live performance and they KNEW IT!!! PLEASE watch the whole 2 HOURS. HE LEAVES IT ALLLLLL ON THE STAGE!!!
loved this reaction so much!! Queen is incomparable, greatest live band ever in my opinion!! you should react to Who Wants To Live Forever & Under Pressure from this same concert! also thank you for recognizing Roger, Brian & John as well, all of them were so amazing!
the mic broke in half when he was with another band but he like the half mic feels when he performed so he continued to performed with it as when he was with queen
you need to react to White Queen Live at the Odeon hammersmith 1975 by Queen it's such an amazing performance and the instruments coming together in harmony it's superb this song take you on a journey well it does for me. Thank you for reacting to Queen I just love them so much and love Freddie. Queen are best seen live
I love ALL your comments. I seriously know every single beat and gasp and vocal and strut of this whole concert, but I love watching someone else watching it!!! And you point out so many little things I’m sure people don’t notice. Great video!!! Thanks Dereck!
Queen wrote the musical score for the movie Highlander. When they were first asked, the band decline but then they were shown about 20 minutes of the rough cut of the movie and it inspired them. All 4 them wrote songs that were included in the soundtrack, though the versions of the songs that were included in the Queen album were revised from the movie version to be more Queen, Here's a list of Queen songs from Highlander: Princes of the Universe - Freddie Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's Theme) - Brian One Year of Love - John Who Wants To Live Forever - Brian Don't Lose Your Head - Roger A Kind Of Magic - Roger You should react to the videos of "Princes of The Universe" and "One Year Of Love" both of which mix in scenes from the movie with video of Queen. but you must react to the LIVE version of "Who Wants To Live Forever". The way Freddie sings it is so poignant. BTW - The half-mic stand is one of Freddie's trademarks. It apparently was created when Freddie attempted to remove the mic from the sand during a performance but the mic was stuck. He pulled so hard (while continuing to sing) that the mic stand broke in half. Without missing a beat, he continued the performance with the stand. He liked it and almost always used it. You are right, Freddie is a "fiddler". Watch him in interviews, he always has something in his hands to "fiddle" with. Some claim he began smoking just to have something to do with his hands (I doubt that - it was the 70s).
The yellow leather jacket with the straps that Freddie was wearing became almost synonymous with him almost as much as trademark moustache. It was a jacket that he wore in quite a few of their live performances, in the collaboration with David Bowie singing Under Pressure for example.
Always lovely to see younger people getting into Queen 😄 Queen where (and still are for the great part) my heroes growing up in the 80's. Still remember like yesterday the very first time i listened to A Kind Of Magic on the Top 20 and saw the video clip in 86, just released.... I got the album immediately on my way to school the next morning... 😋 While i love every single year of the 80's ,1986 will always be the "magic year" of the 80's for me.... Not only because of this album (and the Wembley gig) but all the amazing songs and albums that came out and came on the charts that year, it was insane.... like a tsunami of great music week after week... 😄
Love everything about this performance , it’s perfect in my eyes. . A great song live - penned by Roger. I love his backing vocals so much in this too.
You really, Really, REally, REAlly, REALly, REALLy, REALLY need to check out “Another One Bites the Dust” from this same concert Wembley 1986! They took this iconic song and really made it a concert experience! 🔥🔥👑🔥🔥
The concert at Milton Keyes Bowl- 1981-knock you out of your mind!! Between Freddie trying to ‘eat’ Brian’s guitar and Freddie’s ‘love’ of the scaffolds!! DAM*!!
Irene Downie How wonderful. How I would have loved to have see Queen with Freddie! I did see Queen with Adam on the Rhapsody tour last year and agree with you...Amazing!
Surely it’s time for the greatest performance of them all Derek? Live aid full set (not just radio gaga). Many feel it’s the greatest live set of all time. I want to see Derek react to it.
I love live aid, but I liked this wembley show more. Live Aid was all about stealing a show when no one had much expectations for you....While Freddie had a sore throat. If you really listen to it, the first song or two sounds slightly off before he powers through last 4 or 5 songs.
Whenever I watch a queen performance I always expect a pose from Freddie. Some kind of masterful pose. He most famous one was with his yellow jacket. There’s a statue of him made in his honor somewhere in England.
when you see Freddie getting his Mic handed to him very quickly, The guy I forget his name but Freddie gave him the mic and pole when he passed and he dipped it in Gold.
You know John Deacon invented the amps the band used- Brian constructed his guitar he is playing when he was a teenager. Roger also has his own band- The Cross. Freddie also made an album singing opera- Barcelona.
It's actually from the film Highlander, the mic stand happened by accident in the very early days, and the movement by Freddie means something too the rest of the group, they all work by looking at one another and he stops it when he feels times right, and he can play the guitar
Yup the were a complete unit. Lol you should see how flexible Freddie was in the ‘70s 😀 This show has some excellent performances. ESP another one bites the dust & under pressure. You can get your Deaky Fill. Definitely The Saturday show.
Hey my friend. I am new to your channel. I am a huge fan. Great reaction my brother. Loved the way you break this song down. I love that you like QUEEN. I will be watching your channel for sure. Thank you for the QUEEN video. Take care my friend. QUEEN BEE.
Loved your reaction. Queen also did the soundtrack for the Flash Gordon movie. I recommend you react to the concert opener of Queen On Fire at the Bowl 1982 Milton Keynes. Queen opens with Flash, The Hero, & We Will Rock You (fast version). AMAZING!! MAGICAL!!
You've just gained new subscriber! This my favourite upbeat song of theirs, love the lyrics. Was it written by John Deacon? Not sure. Tina Turner, now you're talking! Seen her many times live and she is amazing, and yes, just like Freddie in terms of giving her all, charisma and ability to engage with her audience. Thank you..
One of the greatest ever. Queen sing "Who Wants To Live Forever" at this same concert, defo worth a watch. Also "Love Of My Life" @Live Aid is incredible
Beautiful, the live performances by Queen are lit 🔥🔥 I suggest One Vision and Who wants to live forever live from the same concert. Keep up the good work. Much bless dear❤
About the microphone stand at one of their very first performances he went to get the mic off the stand and it broke. Leaving the pole attached to the mic. So he liked it and he continued to use it! That’s his signature!
May be the best Queen song ever, to me at least. You should do the official video. The recorded version has so many more great effects. Discovered this a few years ago. Amazing song!
I bet Freddie would have loved your Tina Turner comparison. He also loved singers like Liza Minelli, Shirley Bassey and most of all Aretha Franklin. Brian May once said “Freddie wanted to be Aretha Franklin”.
Didn't know this, but this was written by Roger Taylor. This band was so talented and deep. The jacket reminds me of one that MJ wore. Love watching your Queen reactions Dereck. You have such an appreciation for Queen's talent. Please check out Melancholy Blues for something completely different from them.
Did you know that Brian May's guitar is called The Red Special and it is the only one of its kind because it was made by Brian and his father in their garage at home many years ago.
👏👏👏👏reaction .. 👑❣️🎶 Roger (drums) normally does backup vocals also Brian .. I am sure I heard some .. gonna have to listen again now!!! Be back with an edit !!! Back yep 7:12 Rogers definitely in there :)
Roger was definitely doing backing vocals on this song you can see him singing when the camera is on him have another listen to it & many others at this concert
Not sure if you have an answer on his jacket but Freddie designed 3 of them Yellow White and Red and White. As for his mic it broke off in early 70's and the guy who passes it to Freddie thru his whole career was given to him From Freddie and he had it dipped in gold.
It's funny you mention Tina Turner. Before Freddie started singing I was thinking about the Proud Mary performance at Wembley. I'm sure you know it, but if not, you know, check it out 😉👍
Thanks, Dereck - indeed a great performance -- I recall when the album was released and listening to that version- although a long-time fan - thinking "meh" - but it really comes alive on-stage -- BTW, that yellow jacket is iconic and you can buy replicas online - there was a time in my youth that I might have been able to rock that style ... but sadly, that time has passed for me (lol)-- still you might carry it off!
Fun fact: early on Brian May needed a guitar but too expensive. So using his skills as an Astrophysicist and with help from his dad Harold, who was an electrical guy who built a lot of their home appliances, decided to do a father-son project and built the "Red Special" that you see him with today. They implemented a few ideas of their own and his one of a kind guitar that took him to the stratosphere would be priceless today.
@Graeme Potts, asking cause I thought they made it together cause his Dad was an encouraging involved parent - they weren't poor. Dad was a successful businessman and his son was smart and inquisitive and voila . . .poverty wasn't the motivation. I've read others have said it wasn't due to no money for a guitar. I'm thrilled to see it as more evidence of the fabulous backgrounds of our Queen 'boys'. Love 'em forever. EDIT - and Brian was an only child.
Behind the Queen magic, the other MAGIC is moving across that stage with that microphone AND THAT WILDLY LONG WIRE CORD. Only 2x in all Live performances have I seen him eye/adjust the cord. One was in Radio Ga Ga/Live Aid, the other at the end of Dragon Attack/Montreal 1981. I read it was a hard leap of faith to wireless. They always fly high!
The greatest thing about watching Freddie is that you just know he’s having the best time every single time and it just makes you have the greatest time every single time! He’s such a joy to watch! Such a legend!!!! ♥️
Love the bass drive on this song! how can 4 guys make this much sound?
This is Freddie's voice at its absolute finest IMO
Freddie’s yellow jacket is famous. He majored in art and worked with a stylist to create his costume of the pants and jacket based on opera military costumes he’d seen in Spain.
The great Freddie Mercury a voice GOD!
Perfection is the only way to describe Queen. All of this live with no electronic gadgetry to back them up, just pure talent and passion. Each member a genius in their own right, all coming together and creating……… well, PERFECTION!!💯

Rien d autre est comparable à la musique de queen ,et a Freddie, 🌞🌠 , yes complet package 👍
For me this Yell😢jacket is so iconic, I love this colour on Frieddir
ALL should watch this whole concert. This was their last live performance and they KNEW IT!!! PLEASE watch the whole 2 HOURS. HE LEAVES IT ALLLLLL ON THE STAGE!!!
There were 2 performances at Wembley....and then the last one was at Knebworth🤩
They were Destined from the time
They were born.They fit like
a puzzle.
Freddie Mercury ❤
I can listen to Freddie & Queen all day! ♥♥♥♥♥
Re. Freddie's yellow jacket .....it is iconic! It was last sold in 2004 at an auction for $49,000. His statue in Montreux,

Amazing awsome the greatest showman on earth 🌎
All 4 amazing musicians.
John Deacon is amazing on bass, he looks younger in this than in the 70's. The whole Wembley 86 concert is so amazing!
Definitely one of my favorite Queen songs Derek. FREDDIE is a genius! Miss him...great Queen reactions! I love all of them. More to come, I HOPE...
Fascinante ... 💗..... amazing .... simply.... Beautiful .... (Queen)

loved this reaction so much!! Queen is incomparable, greatest live band ever in my opinion!! you should react to Who Wants To Live Forever & Under Pressure from this same concert! also thank you for recognizing Roger, Brian & John as well, all of them were so amazing!
Loved your analogy between Freddie and Tina, she is the only one who comes close to Freddie's stage presence, both phenomenal performers.
Freddie was a once in a lifetime experience. Loved him and Queen and how fortunate that I was raised on their music.
Unbelievable power in his voice -- truly remarkable. Freddie pulls out every breath from his body to show you he is indeed a legend already!
LOVE OF MY LIFE same concert
His Mic stand is his trademark, he broke it in the early days of Queen and liked having it in his performances
He was in a band before Queen.
the mic broke in half when he was with another band but he like the half mic feels when he performed so he continued to performed with it as when he was with queen

Sorry, Love of My Life wasn't done at Live Aid
Correct Lizzie, it was live @ Wembley. Thanks.
Yes because Freddie is 100000000000% great
Amazing queen
Great reaction to one of Queen’s best. Please check out the sad but awesome “I’m Going Slightly Mad”!
Beautiful, the live performances by Queen are lit 🔥🔥 I suggest One Vision and Who wants to live forever live from the same concert. Keep up the good work. Much bless dear❤
Next should be 1986 Wembley "Now I'm Here "!! You will love it!
Deaky is all you need to move a song along!
I was there! It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!
About the microphone stand at one of their very first performances he went to get the mic off the stand and it broke. Leaving the pole attached to the mic. So he liked it and he continued to use it! That’s his signature!
If you notice whether it's a guitar solo or a bass solo. Freddie will always go to the back ground to let them have there spotlight
May be the best Queen song ever, to me at least. You should do the official video. The recorded version has so many more great effects. Discovered this a few years ago. Amazing song!
Official video is inspired!
I bet Freddie would have loved your Tina Turner comparison. He also loved singers like Liza Minelli, Shirley Bassey and most of all Aretha Franklin. Brian May once said “Freddie wanted to be Aretha Franklin”.
De lo bueno, lo mejor y de lo mejorcito...QUEEN!!!!. Gracias y besos.

You need to see the Movie to know about the mic he uses. I first time he sang he broke the stand and he used it as his prop forever after.
Did you know that Brian May's guitar is called The Red Special and it is the only one of its kind because it was made by Brian and his father in their garage at home many years ago.
The miracle is one to see? One vision.
👏👏👏👏reaction .. 👑❣️🎶 Roger (drums) normally does backup vocals also Brian .. I am sure I heard some .. gonna have to listen again now!!! Be back with an edit !!!
Back yep 7:12 Rogers definitely in there :)
the mic was his gimmick. in the early days, he broke the mike stand and he decided it would be his gimmick. And it was.
Yellow was his favorite color
And he looks great in it!💛
Roger was definitely doing backing vocals on this song you can see him singing when the camera is on him have another listen to it & many others at this concert
Not sure if you have an answer on his jacket but Freddie designed 3 of them Yellow White and Red and White. As for his mic it broke off in early 70's and the guy who passes it to Freddie thru his whole career was given to him From Freddie and he had it dipped in gold.
Wenn ich sowas hör wünsch ich mir immer in den 70ern geboren zu sein damit ich das dann live in den 80ern mitbekommen hätte
It's funny you mention Tina Turner. Before Freddie started singing I was thinking about the Proud Mary performance at Wembley. I'm sure you know it, but if not, you know, check it out 😉👍
You should react to Freddie and David Bowie "UNDERPRESSURE". Freddie hits an unbelievable note to make shivers go down your epine.
This song was originally called A Kind of Vision..its on TH-cam
Thanks, Dereck - indeed a great performance -- I recall when the album was released and listening to that version- although a long-time fan - thinking "meh" - but it really comes alive on-stage -- BTW, that yellow jacket is iconic and you can buy replicas online - there was a time in my youth that I might have been able to rock that style ... but sadly, that time has passed for me (lol)-- still you might carry it off!
