Subbed! My first unbelievably good drum set was a Pearl Blx, in Arctic White, it was an absolutely killer drum set, the shells were just The Best sounding I'd ever heard. Loads of people who heard me playing it while rehearsing or gigging would mention it as well. I even rented it out for trusted people to use, for recording only.
Since then, (early noughties) I got hooked on maple set's and branched off and on to Premier Signia maple drums, other's too, another massive favourite range of mine from Premier drums.
Now I'm back trawling the web for deals and classic Pearl drums, especially from the eras you're talking about in this video, I recently bought a GLX Super Pro bass drum, it's unbelievable!!
Deep Cherry red colour and it's in absolutely great condition!!
I'll build up a classic set of Pearl maple drums and in whatever colour they are available in, and the Japan made ones.... say no more. 🙏

Pearl really upped their game with the MLX/BLX/DLX series. The compression constructed shells last literally a lifetime. Working on a 1975 Pearl Luan set right now. Will have some more videos coming this Nov/Dec.

Great kits. I've always loved Pearl drums and they are for whatever reason underrated. I regularly see kits where I live for sale for great prices. I just bought a 1972 Wood Fibreglass kit " the professional Jazz kit" according to catalog for $300 with the copper on steel snare 4214 maybe it's called. Although the seller thought it was steel.
What is your thoughts on early export kits to refinish?

I did a refinish a 1976 Wood Fiberglass in that video. I also saved and refinished an Export and have a video about it with a re-wrap. Search for Superman Drumset and you will find the steps in refurbing a set. Sounds like you got a lot of drumset for very little money! A pearl WF for $300 is good if hardware is in good shape. Exports are great sets, well made and mass produced they have seen the worst wear we can give 'em, and most are in great shape, just needs some cosmetic care.
