    I've collected for over 30 years and let me state this: there are some coin dealers who are crooks and I mean crooks! When you find a good dealer you stick with them. Have a great day!

    I'm serious about starting a coin shop here in my area and your videos have done nothing but educate me in ways that books cannot! I'm 20 with only 10 years of collecting experience, so your videos have been helping me become more knowledgeable so that I can be as honest as possible when making deals! Thank you Daniel!

    Daniel, I cannot watch you without enjoying while I learn, We all have emotions, no problem, It's what we do as we react to others that makes the difference, I always hear so much wisdom when you teach us, I will not only feel great about buying from you, I trust whatever you offer me if I sell to you!! A big issue I see and have seen is that people don't understand honest coin dealer's are just like everyone else in any business, money must be made, that's called making a living. Yes, I most certainly will buy from you, hey, the education is worth that alone!! Thanks Daniel!

    Folks, out of all the posts Daniel has posted, to me this one is the most valuable. Daniel, you added the most valuable information I've seen yet. You add the "what-if" part that a lot of folks don't, myself included, think about. There's more to coin collecting than trying to see if you're dealing with an "questionable" coin dealer. Daniel, you can be a member of the Round Table, but to me, you belong to the golden table! Fair, truthful, and this is one of your b e s t postings yet. And this from a guy from that S.U.N.!! Very well done.

    I had a dealer when I lived in NC that I trusted more than anything. One day he proved his honesty to me. He had a complete set of Barber Half walk in from an estate and paid what he thought was a fair price for it. After business settle down he had time to look over everything again and realize he had an 1892 Micro O in the set. He had me look over it and confirm it was a Micro O so he called the estate to let them know he owned them more money because of that one coin.

    Another great video. Coin dealers/brokers are in business to make money and in business in general the higher the risk the higher the profit. Dealers however are usually not at risk because they're knowledgeable. I have never sold a coin in my life but will be getting into that soon. How I would approach it is to try to agree on a value based on grade, nuances and the information available on the coin, once that is established I would try to get between 60 - 70 % of the retail which leaves more than enough room for the dealer to make a fair profit. Humbly and Respectfully.

    Great video! Daniel, when it comes to buying coins it is amazing to me see some posts saying that the Coin Shop ripped me off, or charged me too much. With all the tools from your other videos, Blue Book, Red Book, Greysheet, Ebay, PCGS and NGC Price Guides for Graded Coins, etc., and then the enlargements one can get buying the individual coin online. If PCGS, NGC, ANACS, and ICG Grade it MS quality, then it is probably a pretty good coin. If a person pays too much for a coin it means they are not thinking about their purchases, they are just making emotional purchases. Be wise on your purchases people, and there are some Online Coin Stores that may be better prices on Coin Supplies, (Littleton is who I was thinking of). Nobody is forced to purchase something!

    Some newer collectors get their red book, self grade the coin and in their mind that's what it's worth so they know you need to make money. Say it's a $500 coin and in their eyes, you should give them $495 and you make 5 bucks, after awhile they'll find out things don't work that way. A good way to learn is to go to a local coin show and you can talk to several dealers and you learn the business better, some may be better but I always found there'll be a couple that are just down right dishonest, some interested in flipping coins fast without really looking at them but most seem to be as fair as they can be so they can enjoy the job and make some money. Then like you said you meet a few you feel comfortable with.

    The coin dealers in my area are a little sub par. If the shipping is not justifiable I will drive the 200+ miles from my house to see Daniel, Don and Andy. I have sold collection after collection for friends, family and some of my own to Daniel and company and will continue to do so. They are better than fair. People don't understand that if a dealer doesnt sell a particular coin in volume they may not be able to offer the most for it, it's nothing personal, just business. Whoever dissed Daniel probably doesn't understand how the business works. Daniel is as honest as it gets, unless they decide to get out of the coin business, I will always buy and sell with them.

    My friend and I have been going to shops and coin shows for decades. We know which tables to avoid at the shows because these dealers have a reputation for either overcharging or overgrading coins. Our pet peeve is the haggling by dealers over ungraded “slider” coins - dealers that will charge a higher price for a coin that doesn’t fit the grade.

    Have you ever heard of coin dealers palming coins from a customer or replacing a valuable coin with a less valuable one of the same sort? What should a customer do if they take a coin in to be appraised with other coins and they cant find that coin when the dealer gives it back, or you find one of the same kind but not the back you remember on it. After say they dropped it behind the counter? What would you do if you are not sure?

    I really wish there was a nice comprehensive wiki of all of the coin shops in America. I tried my zip code on the Roundtable site and the only listings near me were one brick and mortar and two order-by-mail dealers. I know at least 6 totally legit shops they are missing. A few years ago, I was looking for a specific coin and tried calling every authorized PCGS dealer per their website in the state and over half of them didn't even have a valid phone number. This shouldn't be so hard.

    • @CoinHELPu

    First love you channel, but I keep hearing about idiots thinking they have something worth a fortune and getting pissed off. These things happen in any industry. My issue with most coin shops in the last 20 years is twofold, indifferent owners and terrible inventory. I get excited about going to an area shop when traveling only to find scrub coins and TONS of bulk silver for sale. It seems like dealers put the scrubs I can buy all day on eBay on display and the good stuff they auction off in the back room. I don’t even get to a point of an honesty issue as I never find anything special at 95% of shops to discuss. I find more on Auctions and sites like yours then at most brick and mortar stores.

    If someone has a $5.000.000 coin and you know that that coin is a $5.000.000 coin how much would offer that person for their coin

    • @CoinHELPu
      @CoinHELPu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Graded or ungraded? You can't know if an ungraded coin is worth $5,000 or not. A graded coin I can using auction records and would pay 30% less than recent sold values. So I would pay at least $3,500 and that depends on the eye appeal and luster of the coin as well. I could go higher if the coin is exceptional. Values and what coins actually sell for are often two different things and once you jump into the $5,000 range there's less people that can afford coins like that.
