Thanks to you mentioning Kaginado in one of your recent episodes I decided to binge the Key series then watch kaginado. Can confirm that show is probably the funniest pieces of media I have ever seen. I would love to hear your thoughts on some of Key's other stuff. Specifically Air and Kanon, maybe a future video, idk.
I took me eighteen months to collect all the orbs. So i earned my happy ending! And that moment when all the orbs start to glow in unison on the title screen: That felt SO good. Because that's when you know there is finally hope.
I remember discussing this a lot with people in the anime spanish community, they really said that the ending was lazy and convinient like if it wasn't being hinted since season 1 and explained in deep during the first half of season 2 not in one, but in two different arcs

I originally started with the VN with Misae's route, because she didn't really show up at all in the first season of Clannad, and she seemed really relaxed when she ended up showing up later. I was excited to get more of her character, but was kinda disappointed with how the route went-- not that it was bad. And then I saw that I needed to do a certain other route in order to get her light orb, and I think that next route is probably what got me hooked on the whole game.

Ok, a lot of attention was paid to the light orbs topic, but I want to focus on two issues related with today's heroines. Firstly, the missed chance of romances' development by the creators. And even though a romance with Misae in my opinion should be treated more lightly (in a form, for example, of an OVA or side story), Miyazawa's arc should be lengthened, only to see how she is getting along with Tomoya as a couple (in Yukine's side story, however, it is only mentioned that they are going out after the events taking place in Clannad). The second thing, I cannot imagine how the Shima case wasn't settled once and for all by Misae at the beginning (and eventually how their relationship actually went that far; how she even allowed to happen so).
The orbs dont feel as earned in the anime than the visual novel. I still like Clannad but the ending is hard to justify as an anime. Its the same issue with Fate anime adaptions compared to the long explanations in the visual novels. It just doesnt work well but its passable.
That seems to be a baked-in part of how a lot of Japanese media companies market their properties: By not giving the audience a truly complete and self-contained experience unless they view/listen/read/purchase multiple different media versions of the same work. To demonstrate that Key definitely understood that business model at the time, such a strategy is one of the main reasons why _Angel Beats!_ was such a nightmare to develop, and how it ended up burning Maeda out creatively.
Spoilers I thought he could see them because he and ushio were the only ones in the world she created that housed them, bc ushio could see them too when he makes up with his dad
Or who didn't play the game and didn't necessarily get how awkwardly the whole plot thread was implemented in the adaptation. It's not an ass-pull, but it's not really explained adequately except in the original game.

The ending of Clannad is what we Tolkien nerds call a Eucatastrophe.
