Congratulations 😂👏🏽 I had no clue what it was lol

I know it must suck to have to critique small businesses but I think its super important to let people know if an items itchy, specially if you're paying a lot and then can't wear it so thank you for your honesty!
Especially if a small business is charging 300+ on that first outfit!
Also that can be fixed by puting ribbon on the seams. Honestly for that price I would have assumed that they do that.
The business can’t improve if it doesn’t get honest feedback, either.
@@Kaivijs yes this - they could cover those seams - they arent curved so it shouldnt be difficult.

None of the things in the video are my style but she's so cute I love watching it all. 😊
1st one costs way too much!!
20:58 it’s so interesting when you watch Naomi Jon, HopeScope, and Mia trying out the same things and seeing their different takes. And what they each noticed or didn’t notice about the same items. 😊
Finally found someone with the same taste of TH-camrs Mia and hopescope r my favs😢😢
i watch them too!!!
That’s so funny because I watch all 3 too!! ❤
Me too! Mia and Naomi especially are my comfort TH-camrs ❤
I don’t really vibe with Hope, I don’t think she takes ethics into consideration as well as Mia. But Mia really is one of The best!
I always love the notes and postcards by small creators. I can't often afford to buy them, but when I do, I save the cards in my journal and write what I bought from them, how much it cost, how much I like it, and more. Some brands have such gorgeous art that I frame the postcard and use it on my wall in my art room as inspiration. If you ever have an excess of those little cards, you can always donate them to a scrap store. There are many art scrap stores and charities that focus on reduse, reuse, and recycle.
that's cute !
Dont be fooled by some small businesses, there are many that are just dropshippers, which again you do you but most exploit their prices. So i personally dont count those a small business, for me its about craftmanship and handmade products.
Yes I'm pretty sure the nails are drop shipped. The best way to figure out if it's not drop shipped is see if they post content about the making of the products
Update: I couldn't find a single making of video and they have a lot of fake followers (I'm media researcher) so pretty clear I would say
The first outfit looks like it’s a straight up drop-shipper scam… $315 for that see through plastic bib outfit😩
@@vLatty_ Why would those nails be dropshipped? I'm fairly certain they started as a small company and are now getting bigger through TikTok
@@Yumeimusik I actually replied already but it somehow got deleted. So basically there is no making of video of the nails and a lot of the followers on IG are bots (I'm a media researcher so I can tell) it could be that they design the nails themselves and give the order of production to bigger factories. Doesn't make it handmade or fair, only if you count Chinese low salary factory workers as such....
as a small business owner, i always include a personal note that ive hand signed in every order. however, the note includes an ingredients list and care instructions. so its a good way to personalize it but also have it be essential to the items recieved
I do the same, even when I sell items on Mercari! I feel like that personal experience goes a long way.
I keep the handwritten notes, hand written notes/ letters is a lost art.
I really like getting them with items, and I actually have a small stack now cause I do keep them along with any really intricate detailed tags. I think it's a nice personal touch from local/small businesses that I might maybe sometimes forget exist 😅 otherwise
@@tanyad7073 It does! I always remark to my friends or family on thoughtful notes or wrapping with online purchases and save the notes or business cards to remember stores I liked! The extra touches always make my day!
ahhhh, yes, as a buyer I always love those cards, because most small business pricing is expensive for me (which is not fault of the business owners of course!!) so I can only support them once in a awhile as a treat for myself and I always kept those little notes in my journals, it's always extra special when the notes are personal and hand signed🥰
As a small business owner in the UK you give me hope that there are people that appreciate us and will pay our prices. It's a real struggle being told you are too expensive even though you don't actually make that much per item 😅
Oh please some of you really price things ridiculously ... Yeah i understand the struggle but some of you just go way overboard
@@dzdztar4612 we cover our expenses and our time... If you are happy with modern slavery go right ahead 🤣. But most of us have skills that have taken years to get to a professional standard. Any machinery we use is expensive and that needs covering too. We don't charge things just for the hell of it. Most people are just used to crappy tat now that the value of things have decreased. If I charged £1.50 for my baby leggings I'd be a slave by my own making. They cost £6 in time alone.
(This doesn't include drop shipping businesses, just those that actually make something)
The problem most of the time is not people's stinginess (or preferring fast fashion) but the fact that we ourselves are not paid enough to support small businesses. I live in UK and I cannot afford to pay lets say £150 for a handmade blouse, that is to say I don't think it's overpriced I simply cannot afford it. That's why I don't buy stuff unless I thrift it, including thrifting the fabric from charity shops, e.g. curtains.
I would love to be able to make the kind of money that allows me to support local makers but the reality for the majority of people is that it's impossible.
@@sonian7234 my stuff are all on par with alot of shops on the high street. My main customer base is people on lower income. My children's range has grow with me clothing which saves you so much money. The only thing that would ever be that expensive is dresses, and I mean fancier dresses not just a t-shirt dress. I want my stuff to be affordable so I don't charge what I should, just enough to pay for materials and minimum wage.
@@mgracie8129 don;t worry, some of us are happy to buy well designed and made pieces given they are gonna last long.it's actually cheaper in the long run
I like the idea of the personal note imprinted on the box lid on the bottom or something, so its not an extra peice of paper that will get thrown out, but still has that sweet surprise touch to it
the last dress is actually from a Russian brand and it's very common for smaller Russian companies to communicate through WhatsApp and wire transfers are much easier there as well, so it's a common practice too. It doesn't mean that you don't have to check reviews first as any of those IG ads might end up being a scam 😬😬
I feel like like I saw this comment from you earlier with more likes, and posted earlier. Was it deleted?
the last dress is actually from russia period, a country who bombed children cancer hospital just a week ago among other things what review checking guidance you are talking about????
@@BabyGirl-hf6rocritiquing the russian government and not wanting to support any russian businesses is completely valid but I feel like it's a bit more complicated and nuances than blaming every individual citizen of a country for their government's decisions, when many don't agree. Especially in an authoritarian country.
I absolutely don't agree with the actions of the Chinese government either but can't really help still consuming a lot of Chinese (made) products
@@justme-qd6qb China is not at war. Would you order a dress from Germany in 1940-ties and use the same argument? Probably not. Also the business focuses mainly on exclusive clients in the Arab countries, indicating that the owner is 99% connected to the Russian elite. The ruffle finish on the shorts set is called a lettuce edge hem. It's done on lighter weight knits by stretching the fabric while serging the edge. When you let go of the fabric it ruffles and curls. Back in the 1970s my grandmother taught me to do this using a zigzag stitch on her Singer Touch & Sew machine. It worked beautifully on that trendy double knit polyester, hahaha. It works really well on poly/cotton knits and stretch panne velour, too. I've seen the finish on sweaters occasionally and on bias cut ruffles. There are tutorials for the lettuce edge here on TH-cam.
I actually learnt a fun nail application hack from my friend. I'm allergic to alcohol wipes but dipping them in diluted white vinegar works. I've used it for pressons and nail wraps; it works really well.
Personally I love the little notes left in my orders from small businesses, it makes it feel so much more personal!
I feel like i'm valued as an actual person and not just a command number
That and a lot of the times they have really cool artwork/logos/promo shoots that you can use
I actually save them! The hand written messages and notes of thanks are equally appreciated.
The ruffles hem is called a lettuce hem and its basically done by stretching a knit edge and sewind the edge with a satin/short zigzag stitch! There are lots of good tutorials on youtube
The first thing I thought of was a rolled hem on an overlocker, would that do the same?
Yes, I think you’d just need to tighten up the tension to get the rolled hem to go wavy.
Good to see an answer because my guess was just to hold the knit fabric extremely taunt and then making a really tight stich so it would cause it to gather...
Commercially, you use a baby lock stitch which is sort of like a tiny 3 thread overlock but you can achieve a similar look on a domestic with a teeny zigzag ❤
@@caldowning Came here to say this - I spent many years finishing mesh tops on a 3 thread overlocker!

I agree about the thank you notes being destined for the trash, even though they are really cute! I’ve had a couple companies write them on the invoice/receipt that’s in the package, actually. To me that makes a lot of sense because it’s something that’s unavoidable in every package, so might as well add a little note on it too! Reduces the amount of paper being tossed out.
I actually love thank you notes!!!! But that’s because I journal and have one specifically for keepsakes, I’ll tape things in like movie tickets, concert tickets, family pictures. I’ll even use candy wrappers, old gift wrap etc etc!!
I think it’s a great alternative to just throwing it out. I do understand that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea though

Thank you for the video, everything looks very good :)
yeah, happens sometimes when you start a genocide in some other country
Why are you saying that like it’s the commenters fault? It’s not, yea when there’s violence things go to sh!t but the way you phrased your comment sounds really blamey
@@annalea3026 it’s not blamey, i’m just giving a full context that people avoid giving for some reason :) it’s not like they went under the sanctions bc no one likes russia, it’s cuz they have unalived & are unaliving A LOT of people, which is kinda huge. this is what i live in for more than 2 years, and i’m so sorry if smbds feelings were hurt by my comment, my feelings get hurt on a regular basis cuz people around keep being kill€d and other people just going blind on this situation.
I’m not trying to justify anything and my feelings aren’t hurt I’m simply stating that using the word choices you did make it sound like you think the commenter is donating money to the Russian government or something… I honestly hate war and violence there’s always a better way to resolve things, I also understand how difficult and nuanced the situation is as a business likely pays taxes that goes to a government that’s attacking so many people, but people also need to make money and buying the dress isn’t directly supporting Rusia but of course it in some ways might give money to people who give money to Rusia but at the same time it’s not the dressmakers fault if their government decided to do something horrific… but we also don’t know the dressmakers maybe it’s some dropshipper and all the funds are going into the pocket of someone supporting these awful things with no hesitation it’s just a tricky situation is all
@@rinipork I don't feel like your information is any useful in this context. I explained the hassle and why it isn't a scam. Your comment does not give any additional information on the matter of why this isn't a scam, it is specifically to blame people who aren't directly involved in making decisions about the war. Maybe the world should hate on you, because the government of America killed people for no good reason in Vietnam? Or if you are from any other country in the world the chance is, that somewhere in history, that government was involved in something nasty. I am not from Russia, I've never been there, nor my parents, but looking at humanity as a whole, this is a pretty hateful and unjustified remark, especially coming from an English speaking person, since England enslaved and colonized so many countries back in the days (so most likely you have some ancestry in there)... People who are trying to survive and feed their families do not decide to start a war. Don't start a hate speech.

The small business cards, if I've never ordered from the brand or haven't in a while, it makes me feel really appreciated. It makes me happy. Now if I order frequently, and I get one every time, it stops feeling personal (unless it's a very personalized message). I think they're a very nice touch, even if destined for the trash.
The first one’s color was absolutely perfect on you, it makes your skin glow!
I love watching these types of videos where small businesses are supported and showcased :)
When they make larger sizes, it requires more fabric and work so they often will charge more. I mean I get economically why they're limited especially being without a large staff of people working for them. I'm saying this as a curvier girl, so no shame at all. I'm just relaying a possible factor for them. Maybe if the demand is there, they will expand their size selections
They would also need to make a new body block for the pattern, to make the clothes fit right. A lot of companies just scale up the regular pattern, resulting in clothes that dont fit right.
Making plus size clothes basically requires a new pattern that also needs to be scaled up, making it quite a large investment.
@@msx4640@msx4640 yup there are a lot more works and investment that go into making inclusive sizes than meet the eyes, more than people know of...I'm saying this as someone who works in manufactoring. I understand why many brands don't do this and super impress with brands who does, go into understanding why they charge more on their products.
I’m totally okay with small businesses charging more for true plus size because their margins are relatively small. But I hate when large corporations charge more when their margins are already huge.
Thanks for this comment. Also, it would add a larger number of orders than one woman could probably handle on her own. Then, you get into having to hire folks, employment law, taxes, etc...scaling up isn't a joke!

The issue with inclusive sizing for small businesses is that people will get mad if different sizes are differently priced, but a 3x would take significantly more time and materials to create. You can't win as a small business
As a plus size women I never mind paying more as long as it's reasonable. Do I want to pay double? No. Will I happily pay $10-15? Yes.
average the cost across all the sizes -- thats being inclusive

I bought a pair of nails from that Instagram page for my prom and I can say I did get compliments and they were very strong. Although they did come off the next morning after taking a shower, which could’ve been my fault due to incorrect application ?? (Although I followed the directions) or the fact that I think my nails have an issue where our nail polish and glue, etc. don’t like to stay on my nails 😢. Also just a hack for anybody that uses the glue tabs after you put the tabs on and take the sticker off. You can hit your nails with a hairdryer on a low heat setting and then put the nail on after doing that so that they stick better and for longer !
I was curious how long they lasted. Were you worried about them coming off during the day? Were you using the tabs or glue?
A little tip for making things stick onto your nails:
make sure to dehydrate them from any natural oils, 100% acetone works best, or a nail dehydrator.
Make sure to prep your nails, buffing them with a low grit file, making sure there's no shiny part on your nails, (but do not overfile!!) This helps with giving the nails something to stick to.
Something that also helps me is pushing back my cuticles, and making sure there's no ‘skin residue’ on my nail plate, which can cause lifting!
If your using glue, try and apply the nail at a 45* angle starting from just above the base of your cuticle, then push it back towards your cuticle once its laid flat. This helps avoid large sir bubbles, which causes lifting.
These prep tips are for any nail application in general, so it will work for glue or Tabs! Great tip on the hair dryer, ill be sure to try that! ❤
The reason press on nails don't stick for long is due to moisture in your nails before applying file the surface area of your nail then swipe some nail polish remover on the surface of your nail now your nail will last longer
Prettige!
@@beths609 I had done this! I used the prep pads and buffer and whatever else they supplied in the nail package :(

@@alexandria6283 I mean she is buying them primarily for herself and giving them away as a curtesy so I wouldn't expect her to buy multiple sizes, just like you or I buy clothes and then donate when we don't wear them anymore. Remember these are purchased for the video and the giveaway is extra!
... Yes they might not fit everyone (including myself) BUT I am willing to pay to get them altered and that will still be a 'win' for me as I you are getting super cool things for free and ultimately still cheaper than buying the piece new.
I love these types of videos! Please continue to make them!
That Easy Tiger outfit was daylight robbery!!! Cute but in no way worth that price!
Looks like something you'd find on Fashion Nova.
OMG! I just love small businesses because of how much work goes into each product. The bags are just perfection!
Yay! Yes, you should get the cherry bag, in the smaller size! That was so cute! Sending love. Thanks Mia ❤😊
The last dress looked so good on you! The champagne colour actually gave this sweet, babydoll vibe that I absolutely adore!
What a fun video! Thank you Mia. Lovely choices
Mia absolutely always nails the thumbnails, the whole video and her energy is so ✨ pink glittery pen✨ coded
Sewing tech here ✌️ The ruffles on the edge of the pj set are likely done using a baby locker, which is a over locker with a smaller stitch width so it's thin and delicate 😁
Chappell Roan was wearing the exact blue sparkly outfit at her show
Wow, the last dress was so beautiful! My first thought was this would be gorgeous in a movie. But the bag at the beginning is my favorite, so pretty!
THAT. DRESS. I was fully expecting you to pull out the saddest, limp satin dress and when it was revealed I was STUNNED. 😮 Literal goals cause wow that is AMAZING ❤❤❤
Shame it's from Russia (hence the weird scammy Whatsapp messaging because every sane business has stopped supporting that terrorist state) so those taxes from the thousand spent on the dumb dress is used to murder Ukrainians.
And the company will fund the war with taxes, lovely
@@Fluwiai’m sure most things you buy are made in china, and china is friends with russia lol, weird take
@@curiosity5877mmm... Yeah?! So let's not even think twice before funding Russian based businesses ourselves directly? ? Sure, what's the difference between paying someone who u have no idea about, if they support/fund/work with The Aggressor who is aggressing right now... Or paying the person who is surely or has no other choice but CURRENTLY SUPPORTS and adds to that aggression machine...
@@steffstuff2328 china currently funds the aggression… and i’m sure buying things from huge chinese corporations every day adds more to the support of aggression than buying once from a small russian business lol, that’s why this hysteria about the dress is just dumb asf
The bodysuit and cowgirl hat are stunning, and I would be doing the shimmy in it over and over to hear the beads hit...that was my favorite part of the outfit. The bag is simply gorgeous and so much bigger than what I thought it was going to be as well. The jammie set is super cute. Everyone needs a comfortable set like that
MIAA THAT BLUE ON YOUUU IS INSANE😍😍😍😍 I WANT ITTT
The quilted heart-shaped tote was adorable. I am a quilter so know how long that took and how much talent it takes to make it look so polished. It’s really good.
I feel you so much because organza is one of the most beautiful fabrics ever but then it's sooo scratchy I get overstimulated and can't wear that thing again
Me seeing this first outfit I immediately see it as a layering piece. Like a cute patterned blouse underneath with ruffled sleeves, or like a shiny longsleeve, or a neon skintight mesh top for the cute multicolor, it has so much potential!
I love the heart bag. Like it’s literally the perfect thing to wear for a lil picnic or for a girls day out. Also I wanna say that the nailssisist nails are so worth the price for the rose packaging.
That blue body suit is gorgeous on you! It really compliments your skin so well😍
the strawberry shorts use a lettuce hem. Basically you pull a stretch fabric so it stretches out and then finish the seam with an overlock machine or a tight zigzag stich. This makes the ruffled bottom.
