    Antoine needs to do it too. He is using an old version of my tune and it's definitely not optimal like this. His car has a ton of potential in that motor that isn't realized because of it. All the things that you guys did were on my list to have DannyG do another pass on, especially the lift shit, before my car yeeted. Good job, Mark's a great dude.

    I loved the 2ZZGE in my Celica. Sold it earlier this year. I just wish it had more mod support. I’m happy seeing you make the most of it.

      Look at R9K Tuned. They’re still making new stuff for the 2ZZ.

      @@FWDFanatic seen them. Not enough imo. They make really great stuff though.
      Also the 2ZZ is a really expensive platform for the little you can get out of it

      @@omarawilson2853 won’t argue the price:power ratio at all lol. They just dropped an ITB setup, and offer the 4-1 long tube header for top end, and 4-2-1 for mid range. Currently world record NA 2ZZ holders, lol. Gotta support the people making parts in order to get more lol.
      I did spend more on my exhaust system than I did on the whole car lol.

      @@FWDFanatic you’ve gotta be kidding me. All I wanted for my two Celica’s was an ITB kit. The kits on the market were too expensive at the time and now R9K has kit for a little over $1000.
      Im a little more than peeved but thankful nonetheless that one exists for the price it does. Might pick up another one down the line now. Too bad im saving for an EVO though but you never know

      I’ve kinda been in their ear about it for a while since the only support for them has been from the UK or like Singapore and Malaysia, and the Asian kits tend to need some work to get them running right. With the 2ZZ feeling like a spiritual successor of the 4AGE I feel like they need them lol.

    This is precisely what I told you needed to be done a few videos prior. With Lift too high you'll be falling out of it with every shift. It should be much better now that it engages lower. Looking forward to a track impression.

      @@panicwire heard y’all make a good harness too. I wonder how similar the setups would be, since a lot of people swap the 2ZZ into the MRS.
      Also, since I plan on running an ITB setup, would I need to swap the IAT setup for a MAP setup, since obviously can’t be running four MAFs lol.

    Love your vids thanks for sharing. I have a 2zz MR2 as well - curious what did you lower the lift point to? I'm at 6200 but my redline is 8500 as I have upgraded cams, but originally when I got the car the lift switchover was 6500

  • @shifty3583
    @shifty3583 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    It seems to me like there are two different problems here, with two different solutions. The first is the lift engage point. While I've never seen it being setup by gear, you can make the case for the following reasons: The lift solenoid and mechanism takes some amount of time to engage, say a few hundred ms. Depending on the gear, the car will be accelerating at differing rates, so the RPM at which lift will actually take effect will generally get lower as the gears go up. You could combat this by allowing lift to engage earlier in lower gears (1/2/3) where the RPM is changing very rapidly. (Ideally this would only be based on RPM rate of change - not sure if that's possible in Link or not).
    The second issue is the dropping out of lift / lift engaging / disengaging rapidly. Traditionally this is managed by adding hysteresis to the cutover RPM - making the on -> off transition happen at a lower RPM than the off -> on transition. I'm not sure why your tuner wouldn't have gone to this first, as this is how pretty much every ECU I've seen managed those types of transitions. For example (imaginary numbers here) if lift engages at 5000 RPM, set the lift disengage RPM at 4000 RPM to avoid it kicking on and off. You can choose the lower limit based on your gearing to ensure that it will stay in lift when shifting at or near redline.

    • @TougeTime
      @TougeTime  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The gearing between gears is different. 1 2 3 are farther and it would drop out of lift. The ideal lift point is higher than it is set at but I don't want it to drop out.

    • @shifty3583
      @shifty3583 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TougeTime that's exactly what I'm saying - you shouldn't adjust the lift engagement RPM to avoid falling out of lift - you should be adjusting the lift DISengage RPM instead. They should never be the same anyway.

    • @TougeTime
      @TougeTime  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shifty3583 i don't think it matters. It's doing the same thing. The low cam crossover is higher ideally. Regardless I'm not dropping out and the power loss a couple ft lbs

    • @shifty3583
      @shifty3583 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TougeTime but it's not doing the same thing, as you've said - you're engaging too early, and giving up power in some situations. Clearly it's a concern for you - why else have a full dyno session and video to address it?
      If you're happy with it, that's fine too - I'm simply pointing out that there is a better and trivially implemented solution that every tuner worth their salt should be aware of.

    • @TougeTime
      @TougeTime  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shifty3583 the power drop is a tiny chip at about 3:46in the video. The rest is higher than original. I am not a tuner clearly but across the board the car runs better. I got a retune more for driveability and clean up from the previous vs power. There is more power as a whole under the curve as a byproduct.The tuner is the maker of the ecu kit. I'm sure there are many ways to do this. All out of my wheelhouse

    Shutoff the engine if the oil prex is low...dangerous! If your engine shoutdown in an high speed corner this doesn't sound good! I have a light and sound alarm.

      @@panicwireThen i agree! 2zz oil pump have a such problem, is not demoltiplied compared to the crankshaft. Sincerly I need to source my old dyno log about it. I finished my 2zz NA in 2018! I remember i tried lift and vvt between 4700 and 6000 rpm and i choose 5400 point for great results. Set the resolution in your fuel and ign adv and try it on your dyno. My ported head and my 4-1 exhaust help it
