Thank you for this. I agree medical is a forgotten part of being prepared. I live in an extreme heat environment and use the cold packs for heat related problems.
Very informative video! This is a very good educational tutorial on emergency preparedness! Your knowledge as a nurse and first responder has really been of great use as a firefighter and educating us on what to have on hand for those emergency situations as they happen. Thank you for the information as it is very useful. Take care, Charmaine.
Awesome video, Angela! Your medic bag is far above & beyond an IFAK. I've never seen this level of first aid gear all in one place. Yet another reminder I really need to CPR recertify, as it's. been. 2. decades....
Thank you for this video. My husband is a retired Captain and we have a large med bag but it's good to see what I SHOULD have in it, compared to what I do have in it :)
Great video, I am missing a few things I need and found this very informative. I am totally interested in taking a medical class. I take care of my husband, he has MD and a few other things. I would like to know as much as possible. Not just for him but for any family or friends. TY TY
It is important to remember that it can be dangerous if medical equipment is used incorrectly. If used correctly they can be lifesaving. I have been asked a few times what I keep in my medical bag as a Firefighter/EMR and I think it is a timely video with it being National Preparedness month. Some of these things may not apply to everyone. I would say 6 minutes into the video is a good place to start inventorying your own personal preps. I highly encourage everyone to take basic First Aid/CPR classes at a minimum.
Happy Tuesday, Angela! It is best to at least make a DIY First Aid Kit & even an emergency kit for the home & vehicle, including pet care essentials. Your medical bag is very advance due to being a firefighter, but very informative. 🦋
Yes! It is advanced, but in an emergency scenario, when help is further away (rural areas) , having the equipment on hand could save a live. If you have animals, definitely create a medicine/first aid kit for them as well. I have one for our pets and livestock 🌻
HI Angela, I really enjoy watching your videos! I would like to know where you got the rods that you have your cast iron pans hanging from in the back. I would love to do something like that.
I’ve had first aid and cpr multiple times and I mean multiple times, but I’m no wiz . I do have a first aid kit in each vehicle but I guess I need a Better kit. Better supplies. I’m stocked up on some dressings and bandages and wash and antibacterial cream but not enough. My kit is full. . A tool box for each car. Great to know I’ll look into some better supplies x thanks so much, Over the years things change.
@debbiealtman5373 that is a great idea to use a toolbox! I bet that's easy to keep organized with the compartments as well. I'm always learning of something new to have on hand that I don't, but we can only prepare so much for the unknown! ❤️
You and I have so much in common! I too have the same career path as you. I did fire and met before nursing. Girl you rock!!! Do you have an Amazon store front? Peg Seattle
Make sure you're checking expiration dates on *everything* - Personal experience: I had two back to back episodes of severe hypoglycemia (had a BG reading of 17! one time and 20! another time) The test strips I was using were "only" 6 months expired. And THOSE strips were telling me I was 100 points higher (so 117 and 120). So make sure you're rotating those test strips!
