sucks when you open one up, and it needs 2k worth of hard parts. (Just looked stuff up, prices change so much so quickly.. looks like thankfully it's about 1k worth of parts now)
That five pinion planet would make a beautiful paperweight and I don’t work on cars for a living, but everyone I talk to you hates the Those Chevy SS trailblazer
Having lived through two major floods in northern Pennsylvania, Agnes in 1972 and Eloise in 1975, I can tell you that not much is more devastating than a flood from a Hurricane. Tornadoes are terrible, but very localized so the areas damaged have large undamaged areas around them still equipped to help them. The widespread damage of a Hurricane flood makes recovery exceedingly difficult as help often has to come from hundreds of miles away.
I wish you shot the removal. I pulled the tranny in our 2004 Envoy XUV with the 5.3 a couple years ago and what a pain. All the TH-cam videos I could find were the 4200 straight 6 and that is much easier than the V8.
Hello, I have a 2003 Trailblazer, does anyone know if you can monitor the transmission temperature thru the OBD port. I have a Bluetooth model a it stats not supported?
Since the transmission has temperature sensors, doesn’t GM thrown an alarm when the temperature is exceeded? Seems like that would get the driver’s attention before they completely smoked the transmission. If there is no alarm for over temp, why bother with the temp sensor in the first place?
Seems that maybe a trip to a salvage yard might be the best plan vs. spending a couple thousand on those 5 pinion planets and more hard parts. Of all the transmission tear downs on this channel, I think this one is the worst of them all when it comes to damaged parts.
So I'm confused, you claim you don't do anything but transmissions, but your diagnosing off camera overheating issues and such? I get you rebuild the transmissions you do and they are great from what i hear and see, but if your fixing other issues with vehicles, that changes everything? Makes me wonder if you have people come in and fix things
He specializes in transmissions and is easily one of the best - so yeah, of course who would doubt him that he can’t fix/repair other things? lol… silly question bro. That firebird is his & impressive isn’t the word to describe it. Any wrencher will have their strengths and weaknesses. Diagnosing overheating issues isn’t as tedious as building a 2000HP mean machine……
I need my 4l60 done it keeps running at 200 temp up to 212 at idle on a 88 degree day exchanged fluid and did filter temp still keeps getting up there no trans cooler need to add one have to run heat full blast ac off recirculating off to cool it down to 180
That’s normal especially if you have bigger tires.. but your best bet the cheapest way, drain and refill with new fluid and flush the cooler/lines. Should help a bit, if not, get a tru-cool 4k with new lines. You’ll see a difference without a doubt then.
UI just noticed that you guys got the original channel back. Good to see its back where it belongs.
This guy is like a Encyclopedia of transmissions. A million dollar brain.
Love the content, very knowledgeable guy you are.

I suppose with the temp guage he should have noticed a rise in temperature. Guess it pays to really know your vehicle.
i do cars, a channel here on this website calls metal in fluid "forbidden glitter"
Man hands. Signfield reference
That five pinion planet would make a beautiful paperweight and I don’t work on cars for a living, but everyone I talk to you hates the Those Chevy SS trailblazer
Me & my husband love watching this show and wouldn't mind if I share!!
Good to see you back
When the fluid looks exactly like what comes out of a human with a staph infection, you know that transmission is just as sick
Since that front pinion housing is purple, you can't just put in new pinion gears & reuse it.
Not a good spot for a cooler?the newer police explorers have a little one right in front of the pan and they knock them off alot.
Wow, I haven't seen a Rat Fink in decades.
That thing is more smoked than Snoop Dog!
Thats a job..
I'm always amazed at his knowledge about EVERY transmission he touches.
Walking encyclopedia...

You should offer a ebook on rebuilding different transmissions I think people would pay for your knowledge 👍

I’d love to have you rebuild my Allison 1000… but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you cover one.. anyone?

So a cool thing is that I live in Putney VT and Sonnax is in Bellows Falls VT, just up the road from my house
Richards heart is broken one of his children has died but he will make it better again

Better off going to junk yard getting a another one out of one of the many trailblazers or envoys around.

I wonder if the fans are backwards, blowing air out the front on the overheating supercharged one
Be cool to come up with a smart and effective way to flush a torque converter so it can be used again , thats if its still in good enough shape !
Can you guys build my transmission in my minivan? 2014 town and county.
Where can I put the temp Sensor on a 4l80 ???
Does the transmission not have an oil pressure switch with a dash warning light ?
They say purple is the colour of royalty. That ones royally cooked 😂😂
Always look for oil leaks under your vehicle when they sit for a few hours it will show up on the ground
thank you i live in NC i just got my phone back on
I noticed a cork gasket on that pan, whose trademark is that?
Purple transmissions aren't good..... dang....
Love your shop& all your content!!
Ausome , I miss you guys on this Chanel.
WELL there is one transmission you will never need to work on...the ICON golf cart behind you :)
To bad it’s not a Yamaha.
You can run the sensor harness longer
How do we get ahold of you
Why do people keep driving when the transmission is playing up dollars rising like a taxi meter
Probably not paying attention.. I’ve never had a transmission fail on me, already monitored temps.. also took good care of my stuff.. never know.
Insurance claim with his auto carrier if he has a decent company.
Nice to see you doing videos again!
Insurance doesn’t cover mechanical failures
Nice work man
Love the videos!
Deja vu... 🤣

Cooling issues directly affect transmission life.
👍💪
Are u guys in a new shop?
That’s his new shop
I need my 4l60 done it keeps running at 200 temp up to 212 at idle on a 88 degree day exchanged fluid and did filter temp still keeps getting up there no trans cooler need to add one have to run heat full blast ac off recirculating off to cool it down to 180
I think its your cooling system, the transmission temperature stays around engine temperature is what I was told.

Over 220 I’d start to worry
Enjoy your video you are always tearing down a transmission can you show how to put one back together
Opposite of how it came apart
