Jian Li won the October Open this year, too - Westchester TTC has the results and the video up on their website. Nb. another thing that sets Jian Li apart is that he uses OX LPs rather than sponge. There's a thread about him on the OOAK forums.
As already stated, it’s: DHS Cloud and Fog 3, OX (no sponge) he also uses Provincial Blue Sponge Hurricane 3 on the Forehand. This shows OX chopping is viable at high levels. Most OX choppers are from Europe (Fabian Akerstrom, Gustaf Erickson) which makes Jian Li very unique. He’s got a hell of a forehand. He has a somewhat abbreviated stroke on the BH, which is common amongst OX choppers and his technique is beautiful. Very low, smooth, great follow through. At the table he is able to play bumps and some attack with the OX LPs, which give a lot of trouble to even 2700 level players. Jishan Liang had a very tough time with his bump.
Jian Li get more points on short push/bump than on his chop. Btw, I just used LP (Sauer & Stroger Hellfire X + Friendship Battle 2 Provincial 39H on a Donic Defplay Senso v3) since this Jan 2023. It's been a good feeling and experience. And price too.
i recently used one of the most used long pimple for the chopper (feint long 3) and the rubber is very very slow, i tried to push fast and the ball just wont go out, it is very very slow, because is made for chopping
@@Pochalsky you're right. Dhs cf3 is a less-friction pips, while the butterfly fl3 is a friction pips. The friction ones always better at chopping than in deceiving or reversing the spin.
you have to be a top-spin monster to beat a good long pips player, break your own back, unless you take anti-spin on your own backhand, even then it can still be tough. you just don't see that many long pip or anti players because everyone wants to be an attacker. i bet in China at lower levels you see quite a few choppers, probably even anti, but really no where else. Me, I want to be both antispin player and two winged inverted attacker. I wouldn't use long pips myself though I dont think, just cause long pips spin reversal seems like some unfair Asian trickery voodoo magic to play against. I would use anti before pips if I thought it was the only way to beat a top spin attacker. Who knows, maybe anti is the gateway rubber to using long pips? It's definitely confusing. I got some anti-spin rubber on the way because I want to beat the long pips player at the club so badly. Maybe it will help me achieve it. Lower level player like me, it just takes too much physical prowess to beat a better topspin attacker, don't want to snap my spine trying to loop backspin and nospin shots from long-pimps all match. Gotta get that anti...
@@MultiSync3V anti-spin usually send back a "no-spin" ball, making it hard for the long pips player to reverse any spin. They'll usually pop the no-spin ball up where you can finish it on your forhand. Thats what I find anyway. My ABS Dr. Neubauer usually send back nospin balls to my long pips opponent.
Yes, (At 5:53) we described Jian Li had leg problem, this makes his win more impressive. Couldn't help to think about WTTC final when Ding Ning had the medical timeout, then Liu Shiwen lost.

The chopper Li uses LP rubber (Red side) on Backhand. JiDe (Nigeria, green shirt) has similar style as Aruna.

he uses dhs cloud and fog 3, this pips are fast but not to reversive spin, so the push is effective but not so the chop

(At 9:40) JiDe was frustrated with the LP's, he sent a loop long on a fake-chop.

For clarification, the BH LP rubber Jian Li uses should be translated as DHS Cloud-Fog 3. Pretty great LP rubber.

That's right. He's been around a few years going up the ranks. He usually wins, though I saw another game where he lost to a higher-rated player.
