Some how I have developed a combination of the Ghost serve and wide serve together. Thanks to this tutorial. I have got a lot of tips from Craig. Funny I watch this repeatedly , setting my phone on the Table Tennis Table and watching his instructions step by e step. I have a long way to go but enjoying trying new serves to my game. I have watched this video probably 50 plus times when i practice these serves. I started with one and getting the feel. I am 70 yrs old and play table tennis 3 to 4 times a week with a group at The Seymour Center in chapel Hill. We all have a great time. various levels , from 800 to 2400 players. Craig I invite you to come if you ever are in the area of Chapel Hill , North Carloina. Thank you again Craig for sharing these techniques .
Dear Craig, although I have and use these serves(far from your meticulous touch), I am so grateful for the precious secrets you share with us. Can't wait to go to the club and start mastering all those details. Thank you...
Finally, the finished article!! moderately paced, clear diction, very detailed, many repititions, and SLOOOOW motion, also a face one can trust?!? trying it out now in upstairs corridor! Train hard, Fight easy, Cheers. :
Nice as usual. It is a shame in Table tennis each element takes months and even years of practice. When I practice these, I film myself, then watch, then cry, then practice again, then cry again, until the serves look more or less good to at least the eye.... Cheers, Craig, I can't wait to be back to my table to test/try these today. 🙃
That was super well made, thank you so much!! I've watched videos on all these serves before, and practiced a few, however never have I seen them so well illustrated, including common pitfalls with the serves! Thank you so much 😊
@@TheTableTennisServiceGuy Also Sir Craig, regarding the fast down the line serve, do we hit it with a reverse pendulum action or a pendulum action. Also does that serve have spin?
"sometimes you dont have to look... " ~ take two hahaha :D, i believe the harderst to return one is the ghost serve, especially on the third bounce is already on your table, serve it low. thanks always sir!
The hardest serve to return for me would be the one which gets me off guard .. even if it's a ghost server we can just push it short just over the net 😁😁
@@jaggi6040 well...if you are fast... you should always keep a good distance between you and the table...so you get few milliseconds to respond to those tricky serves. I've not seen any type of ghost serves used by professional players. It is risky and can be easily backfired.
@@Brezinski1000 if your top spin is good either backhand or forehand...you can return any type of serves. Taking serves at its max drop point is also effective...as you pick up the ball to return when the ball spins the least. All this requires experience...that comes from playing with players of different styles and different paddle type.
Hey Craig, great video as always! As a lefty I had an idea for a video for you to consider- to look specifically for the serve/return tactics in lefty/righty match up as I feel these may differ quite a lot from usual right/right or left/left matches. What do you think?
hi serve guy, after 2 weeks im starting to understand more and more how the serve works i know manage to do a decent pendulum that im even impress i could do something like that!
Very informative and precise description of each serve... and the whole video is produced with professionalism. Me, I would cope just as fine without the elevator muzak. I guess that's what mute buttons is for........... but then you lose the talk as well.
Thank you very much for your kind comments. They’re really appreciated. Thanks for your feedback about the music too. It’s very hard to know what works best and what people prefer. Some like the addition of music, others do not. I’ll keep trying to find the most effective way. Thanks for watching 🙂
thank you coach, am mr dada from nigeria. learning from you has actually made me the best server in my club. pls how do you make does roud cut shots.......ahhhhhh..... its amazing. pls break it down sir. thanks
Love that kicker serve but I find it really hard to get that upward wrist motion and then to disguise it - mine is often read too easily and attacked, especially as it tends to be a little high bounce. How do you recommend getting that wrist kick and also how do you keep the ball low (when you seem to contact it quite high with blade remaining above the table after contact)
Hi Peter, I would isolate the ‘upward wrist movement first’ can you develop the kick and the feel for it (it’ll be very obvious at this stage). Once that starts to feel relatively comfortable, try to add in the downward movement (but over the table). If the deceptive part is effective the height won’t matter too much. If you are concerned with the height, let the ball drop more and contact it lower. Have fun 🤩

Would you use the 3rd serve (wide side) against a left handed player ?
I would certainly test it out, yes.
Do you use the same bat and rubbers during practice sessions?
Absolutely 👍
I've only played some bar ping-pong with no training beyond videos and on Q3, what do you think the odds are of me beating you?

If it's top spin, block with racket facing down. If it's back spin, block with racket facing up.
