I got my 870 Tactical just prior to the bankruptcy but I was unaware of their quality issues at the time as I got it on pure name recognition. I had issues with reliable extraction but swapping the MIM extractor with a machined replacement from Volquartsen fixed that issue. I also swapped the factory furniture with Magpul. Great ergonomics with that brand IMO. Mine came with ghost ring sights, pic rail for an optic and a breeching choke. Magpul stocks really help mitigate felt recoil IMO. Especially with slugs. The shotgun works great. Smooth action and easy to take apart for cleaning. I also have a 18" Mossberg 590A1. Added Magpul to that as well. I'm blind in my right eye so I have to shoot left handed and the controls on the Mossberg are more Lefty friendly than the Remington but it's not a deal breaker. I'm used to shooting right handed weapons anyways. As for he whole Remington vs. Mossberg debate, I like both so I own both. I trust my life with both.
Has yours still been reliable with the new extractor I had just recently purchased a 870. It was weird because probably my first 70 rounds or so didn’t have any issues but after that I would get a occasional stovepipe to wear the round wouldn’t get pushed out probably One out of every 12 and I was able to mimic it with using a spent casing then I ran a whole 25 round box with not a single issue but I ended up getting the volquartsen Extractor haven’t had a chance to go out and shoot it again yet but using my already shot spec casings like I was using before they seem to eject a lot better
Yeah, with the 870, the spent shells sort of just tumble out. A machined extractor to replace the more dull MIM extractor does help a bit. Reliable shell ejection is the reason I go with my Mossberg 590A1 over the 870 as spent shells are propelled out the ejection port which has resulted in zero stove pipes.
@@1977Yakko But Remington is owned by another company for about 1-2 years and the quality allegedly is better now. There is a newer review of the 870 tactical in 20ga and they are flying. But a negativ of the 870 is that the ejector is rivited. So its not easy to remove and change it.
Because all Remingtons have 1 extractor, unlike the Mossbergs they have 2. Doesn't mean it's a bad shotgun it's just how they we're Designed. I have a 870 Marine Magnum and never gave me a issue. The Marines and Navy use them
Absolutely love mine. Wouldn't trade it for anything 👍
I see these going for $449.99 & I keep getting tempted to buy one.
I got mine for $429 and with tax it was $460 it’s my first shotgun and gun
I’m planning on purchasing one next month for home defense.
Don’t

For 200 bucks it's hard to beat the maverick. That thing is bullet proof (no pun intended)
What issues were he having?
Nice shotgun 👍
Thanks, Rick!
Ejection looks a bit weak.
