I grew beets in my backyard but I didn’t know how to use the green until I found this video. Absolutely love this recipe. I already cooked it like 10 times
No lie, made this 5 times (or variations of this recipe including adding black beans, great northern beans, or lentils, kale, etc.) since I found this video 9 days ago. An absolute hit in my household, to say the least. Thank you for all this scrumptious goodness!
I when came across this video, the excitement and the way this guy was eating and cooking got my attention. He reminded me of some great cooks in my family during family cookoff events.we shared from time to time growing up. I followed this recipe just like he showed, my first try I used couscous from a previous meal. Once everything was done and joined together I too was eating and cooking just like he was. I'm 50yrs old, and just now loving beets and the various ways to prepare them. Thanks to this guy this meal is an favorite I'm getting to wish I didn't introduce to my husband because he requires it every other Sunday since this past August. Just the same we ❤ it
I hate wasting food, and when I looked up to see if I can find a way to eat the beet leaves I found this recipe and I saved it. And I have one thing to say, you must try this recipe because it's absolutely delicious, such a heart warming dish! Every time I buy beets now, I will do this recipe. If you don't want to cook them right away, you can store them in the freezer. They can be frozen for up to 10 months. Thank you Chef Buck!
Everyone has great cooking videos on u-tube. But there is just something about you that makes your cooking great to watch. You just have that look about you and a good sense of humor. I love hearing your wife laugh in the back ground and you two seem so happy and natural in the kitchen.
I used fresh tomatoes with some tomato paste. I added the sliced roasted potatoes and beet to this pan with the stems and greens. This was the very first time I had beets in shucks 45 years. My Mom did not believe me. Hubby loved it too! Thanks again for helping me with this transition back to appreciating beets from root stem to greens!!!💯💯💥💥💥
Just made this today while watching your video! Used Chardonnay instead of vinegar (because I don't have any), added sautéed shrimp, garnished with half an avocado, and ate it over rice. SO, so so delicious. Was so pleasantly surprised. Easy, quick, delicious, nutritious, and filling. Thank you so much for the recipe!
I honestly didn't have high hopes for this, but I had some left over beet greens that I didn't want to waste, so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. This is so good. Thank you.
True chef! I’m from Casablanca, Morocco and we always throw the beets’ leaves which are more nutritional. I was looking for recipe for using it and i found this perfect one. I cut a strawberry nd added it to quinoa while it was cooking and added avocado and grilled chicken. Best salad ever thank u for sharing
I made it for diner today...amd trust me...it was great ..u are teaching me things my parents never taught me...keep on with the good work cuz u dnt know the lives u are transforming through ur recipe...I luv men dat cook
really good! Thanks for the video. I didn't have onions so I toasted some onion powder on the pan before I added the minced garlic and added some cumin - turned out really good.
I've made this recipe three times and will make it many more times. It's AWESOME with rice and chapati. Thanks "Chef Boom". You rock. Hope you make more videos.

Very nice. Coming from Ukrainian background, this makes absolute sense. Do no waste any part of the vegetables. I appreciate the fact that you do not waste much food.My grandmother used to make something called 'Greenbread' which was just a bunch of chunks of bread wrapped in beet greens, then cooked with cream, dill and a few other things. Delicious and again, using everything she had.
thanks...I still feel like I waste too much food...it seems like sooner or later I find out something I'm used to discarding can be incorporated into something tasty
Hello, I'm guilty of throwing away greens for my 1st purchase a couple months ago😕😀. Tried this last night for the 1st time without throwing away the greens, 😋mmm it was so good. (Red pepper, garlic, green onion. Diced jalapeno & greens) Then without realizing I didn't even put seasoning in. Love my new Golden beet greens, Thanks 'Lovelife'
This was my first time making beet greens. I like that you used the stems also. I chose not to add the tomatoes and they were still delicious. Great video and very helpful! Thank you.
You have the perfect size kitchen, really. I don't know why people want a huge kitchen when it works best if you can stand in one place and pivot back and forth!
I went to Food City today and purchased two bunches of beets with the leaves for only $3. So I got 6 of the actual roots. I am going to make this for dinner tomorrow night. Thank you so much for sharing this healthy recipe!!!
Chef Buck, you da man! I love your videos. Many others make me snore but yours are always right to the point and with lots of comic relief. I like rice but I'm not a big fan of quinoa, SO I'm gonna make this dish and put it over PASTA !! How do ya like THAT idea?! Keep your recipes coming. I'm a new 'cooker' and you're really helping me learn.
Happy 4th of July - making this today because my 20 year old son is home from Warren Wilson College, he has become a vegetarian, so no hamburgers or dogs for him . I wrapped up the beets and sweet potato's and some garlic cloves separately in foil and put them on the grill to cook. Meanwhile saw your recipe and decided to give it a try - what the heck - its going to rain soon, so may as well do some experimenting - I used what I had on hand. I used a little bit of vidalia onions and 2 small cans of diced tomatoes with green chilies.Had a lot of beet greens! Also, made some brown rice. So, I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the idea !!
You’re fun cook 👩🍳 your wife must be happy, enjoying a good meal with great company. I am planning on cooking beats 🍃 tonight and would definitely try your recipe. Thanks 🙏 for sharing.
That just looks so super yummy! I think that this summer, when I go to the local square/market and buy veggies, I will ask if they have such greens I can have. Maybe I'll let them think I have a rabbit or I could also say it is for my dog, as that would be part true (only she would have to share with me, LOL!) she LOVES greens and will nag to get Brussel sprouts, kale, green beans, spinach etc. (Prepared right though, she prefers her veggies sautéed), basically most green colored stuff is popular... Yesterday I went to my next door convenient store, but oddly they were out of everything green on my list, so I couldn't get her veggies! I had to crack open a can of green beans for her, which she never had before. She is a little dog, but asked for more. She almost had half a can on top of her kibble! And straight out of the can too! That dog is so funny! I am more or less vegan myself, but my dog gets a high quality ordinary dog food as a basis (and she gets chewies), but other food she gets, is vegan. She doesn't seem to miss getting meat (She got meat for 3 yrs and has been without equally long), she is as enthusiastic about meat replacements or other proteins as she was meat, but what really makes her nuts, is greens! Her #1 fave is Brussel sprouts, sautéed brown, of course (big deal!), but as a close #2 is kale, either as chips or sautéed. It is so funny watching that little dog enjoying eating kale, one piece after the other... Kale chips is a real winner, we like to share ours! I think I must try making a version of your creamed kale for her (no onion/garlic for dogs, but she really loves celery, fresh or dehydrated and she loves thyme). Sorry for rambling, got lost in this, LOL... Anyway, I can't wait to try this, really LOVE the idea of utilizing such greens and it makes even more sense here since the kale is so expensive (paid $3.25 for 4 very small leaves of curly kale last week! Bought another pack today, was happy that it was a little cheaper, it sure will be enjoyed, stems and all! ☺️👏👍). Thanks for sharing such creative recipes and thanks for having so many vegan/vegetarian recipes, even if you aren't vegans yourself! ☺️👏🙌👍
Thanks so much for this recipe! I started working at a farmers market and everyone requested that I removed their beet tops. Someone told me that they're pretty good so I started collecting them all in a paper bag. I will try this recipe out!!
I do the same with broccoli leaves You can also make chips with them with sea salt or seasoning. Put them in the oven on medium heat till they crisp up. So good and healthy.
Thank you so much for this idea - I already cooked it and it was really tasty. :) It was my first time actually to eat a beetroot leaves and I am so satisfied for that fact.
Looks great, just had my first harvest of my organic beets growing in large round pots! Anyway, will try your recipe for the beet tops and stems...my first attempt :} Watching from Colorado USA!
Thank you- my fiancé likes the apple cider vinegar u used ~~~~~~~very healthy beets’ recipe, Nancy And my grandson likes to use the onions - green - that u cooked with & garnished 🥰
Well, brought home some beetroot from the market from Brigg in Lincolnshire - England and wondered if the greens attached to the beetroot were edible. I am into juicing and could not really find anyone to say that juicing them was a good idea. Anyhow found this tutorial and having the same ingredients handy - tried this. I substituted the apple cider vinegar with balsamic as that is all I had. And liking it spicy I put extra extra garlic in and pepper. Cordon Blur! On the plate it went and down the hatch with smoked salmon. I swear a posh restaurant would charge alot for this. The beet stems were really delicious. Will do this every time I bring beetroot home and the hubby liked it to. Thanks Chef Buck. Angela.
Thank you for your presentation. I needed to know how to prepare the greens from the beets. I make beet juice but didn't know whether you can eat the leaves
I have always loved the beet greens far more than the beets. My mother used to try to throw them out, but I would always recover and eat them. I like them with sesame oil, green onions and red pepper.
Hahaha... this is a funny video that came up on a google voice search in my kitchen for cooking beetroot leaves. After the second "muy fantastico" i almost turned it off. :-) A fantastic recipe, thank you very much for posting. I used regular onions as it was all i had. I didn't have quinoa either, so I used a tin of chickpeas. The touch of vinegar was brilliant, it made a real difference. My wife really enjoyed arriving home to this waiting for her on the table :-)

Two minutes into the video I became a big fan. Thanks for giving me the idea that I can cook the entire stem
This has become a staple since my mom introduced it to us! Thank you for the delicious beet greens that I used to throw away.
