Sounds great Dale, nice and crisp as a race engine should. It was strange seeing my ugly mug on your TV, and my workshop here in England appearing over there in Montana. Thanks for the plug my friend. Best wishes, Dean.
Hey Dean, yes it sounds pretty darn good to me. I am surprised since the outward appearance is so ruff. Yeah, it's always weird to see yourself on the TV. You are certainly welcome for the plug. Think I will do something like this for some of the other fellow TH-camrs that follow me and me them.
I'd bet that we would have had a blast riding out in the sticks back in the early 70's had we known each other. My small group of friends from those days are all gone now. At least I still have the memories.
Hey David, I know what you're saying man, a lot of the guys that I used to ride the woods with are gone too. I don't get out like I use to either, but still try to get out once and a while. But I am just positive we would have had a great time riding the woods fast, back in the day.
@@montana2strokeracerI remember when Roger Decosta rode Suzuki, Brad Lackey rode Honda and Bobby Estes rode Yamaha. For the life of me I can't remember who rode Kawasaki back then. There is a cool video of Steve McQueen running through the desert on a CR250M. Sure does bring back the good times.
@@davidleland8729 Yeah boy, I remember all those guys. Kawasaki was late to the party as I remember. Think around 73 they showed up and maybe it was Gary Bailey after he left Bultaco. Yep, the movie with Steve was On Any Sunday. Honda didn't show up either till about 73 with the CR250, think may be Marty Tripes. I don't know would have to look it all up. But one thing for sure it was the beginning of motocross in the US.
@@davidleland8729 No never was a concert goer, we were pretty remote and would have had to drive to a big town (3 or 4 hundred miles) to see that kind of stuff.
Hey Larry, we are having an unusually warm fall this year. Normally we have had a foot of snow and temps probably in the teens by now. Not even a frost yet this year. El Nino I think is what is going on. I like it.
Hey Mark, yes pretty sure it has never been split. Not sure I will have to go in there, but we will see. You will for sure see more on this bike. You need to share some pics of your collection. I bet your doing a lot of the same type work that I am here.
Awesome job. I just found your video Saturday. Started watching them. Really enjoy your work. If you ever want to sale the old Honda let me know. Keep up the good work.🏁💯👍
Hi Bill and welcome to the channel, I hope you are an old dirt biker too. I have fun here and hope all the viewers are getting some entertainment and perhaps a good tip to help them maintain their old bike. I grew up working in a bike shop in the early 70's. It was so fun watching the older guys modify, maintain, and race ready their bikes. I just take a lot of what I remember and add it to my projects. I still have a lot of the magazines from then and I go through those pages to get ideas and implement some of the info found there, to my projects. Plus, the resto projects, and just general day to day repair and maintenance. The Elsinore will be coming into the shop soon for its face lift. Hope you will stick around for that and all the other stuff. Thanks for hanging out in the shop with me.
Thanks Carl, it's just amazing that you can send a text or email and it's around the world in seconds. Same with these TH-cam videos.... I can post one, and in less than a minute I have comments from your part of the world. Simply amazing.
@@montana2strokeracer I agree. When I was a teenager in the 1980s, if you'd told me such technology would be an everyday commonplace occurrence, I'd not have believed you.
Will it run? Of course, it's a Honda! Seriously, it's great to hear the Elsinore come to life, way too nice a bike to be left for years in the back of a suburban. Dean @retromechanicalengineer has a great channel, I've owned several Bsa Bantams & so it's interesting to see him work on his little beeza. I agree with you about living in a big town, I live in a rural area & also wouldn't wish to live in a densely populated area.
Hey Darren, yes sir, think this will be a fine project. Yeah, Dean and I are good mates, and he does some awesome work over there in his workshop. I enjoy the Bantams he works on, but I think there may be some Japanese stuff lurking about the shop somewhere. Only time will tell. Your right my friend, if I had to live in a big town were all this crazy stuff is happing think I would just go nuts.
I know Don, they just are not my thing, they look to futuristic with all the radiator shrouds and such. I know the new bikes are much better in every way, but they just don't look right and cost way too much. The biggest issue is they don't have fins.
Hey thanks for stopping by, just having a good time playing with old bikes. I get the steel rims out of Thailand there are a couple sellers on Ebay. I have bought many from there, the shipping is quick but expensive. But I can get two rims for about 85 dollars plus about 100 bucks shipping, so about 100 per rim. Really not that bad. Let me know if you need more specifics, just don't have that info close at hand. dsweger@bresnan.net
My favourite TH-cam channel!
Thank you, Johnny, appreciate you spending time with me in the shop.
Wow Dale , I can not believe how good that old girl sounds ! It sounds crisp and responsive . Great work Dale .
I thought it did too, I really expected worse with its outward appearance.

Nicely done!! Another one saved. Very creative on what many others would have given up on.
Thanks Jim, not done with this one yet. Oh, I'm sure most hardcore bike guys would have worked at it till it was fixed.
she's a good runner Dale !👍👍
Hey Shawn, it sure is, this is going to be fun.
Great video Dale, nice to see you mix it up with the Elsinore!
Thanks Taylor, the CR250 will be a nice project.
