    Anyone else think during this race Jeff was like " We NEED this guy at HMS"

    • @rrhoads24
      @rrhoads24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      I fully believe Jeff Gordon is the sole reason he is now at HMS, Kyle larson grew up a fan of his, and followed the same path as him and is just as talented if not more than Jeff, I grew up with Jeff being my guy and Larson is only a few younger than me, so I absolutely love this happening for Larson i never thought I would root for someone like I did for Jeff and I’m Glad Larson proved he is worthy

      He knew Larson would probably be at HMS one day. Everybody figured he would not be at Ganassi his whole career, I believe. He may have stayed loyal, but after what happened this season, he likely would have left for HMS after this year.

    Larson is honestly the closest thing the sport has seen to what Gordon was...a true 'natural'. Younger fans may not realize it, but Gordon today is seen as the closest equivalent to what Richard and Dale was(moreso than Johnson), mainly because Jeff is seen as the greater driver, and he simply dominated the sport for an extended period, something you didn't see as much at that time(Jeff would have won 7 titles if they didn't implement the Chase, and Johnson would have only had 4). So when folks see what Larson is today, it's very similar to what Jeff was in terms of natural talent. Jeff started beating the great Rich Vogler in Sprint cars as a teenager, and was the guy who knocked the great Dale Earnhardt off the top of the mountain. Jeff seeing Kyle's natural talent was like looking in the mirror, and it seems to be karma that Jeff's now guiding him as his boss. Not sure Kyle will ever 'dominate' the sport the way Jeff did in his day, but he will be seen as the 'best' driver in the sport in his time, same as Jeff was throughout his career.

    • @LordBurger
      @LordBurger ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry but as a big gordon and johnson fan, the reason johnson would only have 4 is because they strategized the timing of their car upgrades when before you got them on ASAP. they clinch the playoffs early, dont upgrade the care for a while, then introduce it when it matters most. gordons team didnt do that well which lead to great overall success, but not championships, and johnson raced for championships. dont forget johnson won the championships in the hardest era to win them. i think that makes johnson greater, and most people in the sport would agree with my reasoning. every number has context behind it. PLUS if you just went by the winston points argument. either way, jeff is still the 2nd greatest because it puts him behind senior who wasnt in as dominant of equipment as jeff was
