- This video was a little different, all about Minecraft, I haven't really done a video about one game since the start of my channel so this was new. I just had this idea, and when I played Peaceful Mode and it turned out to be terrifiyng, I instantly searched it up and found literally NO videos on it. I know it's not what I usually make but I needed to talk about this to someone so it might as well be you.

An even scarier version was Minecraft Pocket Edition back around 2012/2013. If you played in Creative Mode there were absolutely no mobs, no music, no structures, no cave systems, it was just you and the very small world you spawned into. Plus the very heavy fog that old Pocket Edition was known for.

I'm currently helping my brother to gather materials for his base and it's mostly materials found in the Nether. There have been quite a few close calls lol.
Neth too, it helps that you won’t need to bring food when you take damage from all those bed explosions when debris mining
I tried to get some crimson wood and blackstone for my sci-fi themed dark fortress which is inspired by mainly Star Wars imperial architecture, mining up the blackstone from bastions was a pain because I was constantly trying not to fall into the lava pit below after I mined the walls, anyway the crimson wood was only a pain to find without nearly dying at least 5 times. Needless to say, I died 3 times trying to build that damn fortress, mainly from the bastion lava pits
I still don't go there unless in peaceful mode it's still dangerous to me 😂
someone should make a very subtle horror mod but not tell anyone that its a horror mod (advertise it as just a shader and add shaders to it), shadows in the corner of the players vision also a second pair out of sync foot steps coming from behind. The door, chest and barrel opening and closing sound playing when you're not looking at the block when you're near them and other small visual and auditorial things that happen infrequently enough so the player doesn't catch them but frequently enough to put them on edge. Once the player looks behind them or at the blocks the noises stop.

Someone PLEASE make this, even if you download it KNOWING it’s actually a horror mod you wouldn’t know what the horror really was there’s no description to tell you the features, what the ACTUAL horror is, you’ll start gaslighting yourself, I’m just imagining it right? I’m just seeing things that’s not part of the mod, surely.. and if you download it not knowing it’s a horror mod, you’d check the description of the mod, you’d gaslight yourself even MORE because it’s just a shader, right?! Great idea I wonder if anyone’s actually done this but none of us have downloaded the mod yet or noticed it.
In peaceful mode all you hear is cuck cuck, moo, woof, meow, oink, bãããã, hmmm
Until you hear cave noises with no hostile mobs
And then you hear
that's the same thing I hear when I open Reddit as well, particularly a lot of cuck and moo and a lot of bleating 😂
No way they added Sneako to Minecraft
I wonder if adding other sounds like birdsong or rustling leaves or something would help - I feel like just the occasional animal noise is still too little sound for minecraft to sound 'real' enough for your ears, which creates like a sound version of uncanny valley.
I would love to see a mod that "removes" all NPC type characters and enemies, and leaves subtle hints as to where they went. No Villagers or Witches or Illagers or Pillagers. No Piglins, zombified or otherwise. No enderman. No ender dragon. Shifting the end goal of the game from defeating the dragon to piecing together what happened to the people of Minecraft. Was it the same kind of event that erased the great builders? Was it something new? At night, monsters still spawn. But no zombies or skeletons. No, only creepers and spiders. All the villages and bastions are desolate and empty. Paired with some atmospheric mods like those used in Minecraft: PS1 edition, etc. It could be very intriguing.
This but 1 key addition, when you get to the end dimension, all the Crystals are broken, and there are xp orbs on the ground, as if some just defeated the dragon. Perhaps even upon entering a stronghold while the end portal frame blocks are not visible, the mod would complete the Portal, letting you hear the sound as if you are just behind someone else's play through of the game
@@angzarrpsycoyes yes yes. i LOVE this idea. and every once in a while you hear the sound of a dying mob or breaking block. you find water and lava flows slowly vanishing, you hear footsteps just ahead of you, find torches placed down every once in a while

Minecraft keeps adding horror biome this, scary mob that, and modders and youtubers keep making goofier and goofier creature-feature mods in a poor attempt to make Minecraft scary.
Imagine how much scarier the game would be if there was a 1/1,000,000 chance that a torch would randomly spawn in an undiscovered cave. What if a perfect copy of your house has a chance to load in as a structure 10k blocks away? What if a couple of your stored items could shift around or go missing when left unattended for too long?

Horror mods being introduced into peaceful mode use would go hard
It's an evolutionary trait to keep us alive because if we get complacent, we get careless, and we get killed easier.
I believe the stalker mod ('Knocker' I think it is?) works in peaceful. Idk if the attacking version of the mob works, but I believe the creepy stuff the mod does works like opening the doors of your house when you're away (even if you're in your house.)
In normal mode the mobs fill in the threat, in peaceful your mind creates whatever could be watching you.

The ambience in the Basalt Delta is truly horrifying while in peaceful mode.
You hear a constant, soft, and isolating drone that's occasionally interrupted by the crumbling of the Nether, the clicking of geiger counters, and the echoing screams of unknown beasts that are never seen but always heard.
Not even in regular Minecraft is their an explanation to those noises, but in peaceful mode, there shouldn't be any noises. At least not from mobs.
Turning the render distance all the way down with fog on really adds to the scene.
I don't find that many mobs in basalt deltas even on normal difficulty - probably because its terrain is so irregular... So im getting what you're meaning

Minecraft Peaceful Mode is a good example of kenopsia. The eerie, forlorn atmosphere of a place that's usually bustling with people but is now abandoned and quiet.
Exactly
Peaceful mode def reminds me of the earlier days of Minecraft especially pre-Beta, the first time I played. The worlds had been huge since Infdev, but the mobs roaming about were fewer and sparse, and the only humanoids were the player and undead (or so you were led to believe). This is how a good horror mod could be done. You get a feeling of someone or something watching you or see something off. Like structures in the sky or something you definitely don't remember building appearing in your view but no idea why. Designed to unsettle you
@@koharumi1 I’ve always been thinking of such an idea for a while now, though my interpretation is that they summon an entity and code it to effectively act like a player, though it spawns about 10-20 million blocks away from you and after a while (let’s say when a player decides to go to the world border), you’ll start to encounter builds and other things that prove another player is on your world but you never see that player.
It would be funny if the mod was advertised as "adding cheese in minecraft" or something, like it would be really unexpected and you won't know what's causing it.

That feeling is irl too. Imagine your parents have a large, empty house and you're alone that day. You are walking to a corner of the house when you feel like something/someone gonna come out of that corner or they'll be behind you after you take that corner.

There are no signs of why,
No murderous monsters,
No vengeful gods,
No bloodlusted demons,
No failed experiment,
No unstoppable catastrophy,
No avoidable tragedy,
No alien invasion,
No AI revolution,
Just emptiness,
Just stillness.

Peaceful mode turns woodland mansions into liminal spaces.
Why is peaceful mode so terrifying? It's not and you're psychologically gaslighting yourself into thinking it is
the most scary mode would probably be one with 0 mobs...not even pigs, cows, or villagers....just you, the world, (different amount of structures depending on the game version)....but the world would sometimes play the scary sounds (more than usual) and maybe even automatically activate disc 13 and so on....sometimes the scariest thing can be when there is no thing there
That would basically be creative in the alpha
Animals are fine to have, they still give off loneliness vibe and there is a way to disable villages without completely removing every single structure (so if you still want to wander around in empty mineshafts but don't find villages, this is the best way)
You know that one scene of Spongebob and Patrick on the roller coaster?
What really doesn't help is when you DO see something. Something small, in reality, likely just a tiny rendering bug, or something completely mundane. But also, something you otherwise would have missed, too distracted by fighting the monsters right in front of you, to notice it, and now, without distraction, your mind simply jumps at, wondering what that was, curious, or... terrified, of the answer.
For example, watching this very video, at 5:49, for a brief moment, when passing by what looks like an iron door, there's a bright, white pixel, or... maybe two, on the other side of it's window. It's probably just the moonlight... I'd suggest a torch or something, but there's no actual light lighting up the area...
...but what if it's not?
What if something is watching you in that moment. Two pale, white, almost glowing eyes, staring at you from beyond a door you passed by, barely even noticed... yet clearly there.
Those pixels are stars that are visible in the night
I got jumpscared by an unskippable, 15 seconds advertisement after clicking on the time stamp.
@@maazghanchi8994 Probably, but again, that's beside the point. The corner of the moon, or a star, or whatever it may be, it doesn't really matter.
My point is, while he mostly speaks of you feeling things that aren't there- When there actually is something there, small, and, likely mundane. At most, just being a simple lighting glitch or rendering bug.
And yet, one's mind can so easily just... jump onto it, it happens so briefly, and would never have been noticed had there been a dozen pillagers occupying the mansion, and our attention.
...but when it's the only thing there to possibly grab your attention? When you're left to wonder if that white pixel you saw, was a star... or an eye, watching? When you're left to wonder if whatever that movement was that you saw in the corner of your eye while walking through a forest at night was just a leaf decaying... or something stalking about in the woods? When you're left to wonder if that strange, tall, thing you saw briefly in the distance while you were walking by, was just a tree... Or something standing there, waiting?
...Well, that's at least what my own mind jumps onto. Things that I'm not even sure I've actually seen, or... had seen properly. Things that are completely normal, and yet... feel as if they shouldn't be there.
Idk why but when I wander too far from my base, I feel so scared being alone. And when I see a village ahead, I run towards it like a child would when he sees his mother. Then I will lock myself inside one of the houses for a full hour. 😂
I used to play exclusively creative mode because survival just terrified me so much due to the overwhelming feeling I was being watched. I started playing survival more because I realized a superflat world with mob spawns turned off (which I *normally* played) was infinitly scarier
I feel peacful mode is more lonely and just sad rather than scary
eh
If you’re playing peaceful mode, here’s what you can do to ease your tension. Play music: playing music you like can make you feel more comfortable and relaxed, you’re playing peaceful after all.
Turn off multiplayer on that world: reason why I say this is because that there was this one time I was playing Minecraft by myself. And all the sudden it said someone had joined, but I didn’t have any friends on the console or Minecraft party. I was so confused. But, just turn off multiplayer just in extra case.

You can highten this feeling by playing with no sound other than block sound, so like footsteps, mining and placing (This includes other people to talk to, or a video in the background) . Also disabling passive mob spawns, all that combined is when the true eeriness sets in
Also, I think the reason it's so terrifying on it's own is because you feel like something *should* be there, be it a zombie, skeleton, creeper, anything, but every time you look... nothing, it's an odd emptiness that while your mind tries to process pulls you deeper down the rabbit hole of *why* it's so empty, also, I don't think the mobs in normal are distracting you per say, more like, giving you something to latch onto, giving you something to pin the feeling on and giving you a way to get rid of it, killing the mob responsible.

Why, you ask?
Because (memes aside) we can not fear the unknown!
It simply is impossible!!
Fear always require knowledge at all stages in order to work. We are afraid of death above all else simply because we are alive. But if we stay ignorant then we do not know abou the dangers of the world. And so we are happy and feel safe.
Only by knowing what failure means we begin to worry about our steps.
The more we learn about our world, the more it scares us.
We fear what we think we know about it.
Because sometimes records are made about exactly those things that better should be forgotten.
And in Minecraft Peaceful Mode, you know that you are perfectly safe despite the very game being desinged not to be. You know that
that is not normal. That that is not how it is supposed to be this way. That is is almost a transgression against natur. That is is wrong. That it is, maybe ... even ... evil?
And that very knowledge is scary!
Thanks
The only scary thing in Minecraft is your own mind.
Okay for me the fear is around how peaceful mode has no mobs, but how do I know it's peaceful? It's the same reason Alien: Isolation terrifies me, I can speedrun the game, I know it in and out, and I show my friends and say "Don't worry, the alien isn't even active now, he can't get me" and then he drops in an area he isn't supposed to and kills me. Games sometimes break, they aren't always reliable, and because I didn't make the product, I don't know how it works. That is what terrifies me.
Another game that masters this alongside threats is Subnautica. It digs into our curiosity, but all you need is one sound. One sound from anything and your paranoia kicks in. I play a lot of minecraft peaceful mode. I will admit, even with the animals, it feels lonely. I brought up subnautica, because there is no peaceful mode. You are truly alone on an alien world with dangerous and peaceful creatures. You don't know when you'll be attacked at all. Minecraft and Subnautica both master the art of being alone. One digs into your curiosity and they both make your paranoia sky rocket. I just wanted to say that

Minecraft - Same feelings with Gmod, but you'll never know what world you will be in everytime you generate a (almost) random seed. You can atleast find some mobs to accompany you.
Both the "figures" in Gmod and Minecraft are iconic
Like the black figure in Gmod and Herobrine in Minecraft, they are both terrifying in their own respective game.
In peaceful there is no skeletons, no easy way to get bones, to tame wolves. There are some in treasure chests, but that's about it.
@@3173_Delta In bedrock edition, you can kill fish and get bones that way, and if you have looting, even better you can get up to 7 bones with looting 3.
@@karatekidfahim3 On Java, which this video is mainly about, because it talks about beta, they only drop bone meal
@@3173_Delta You can tame wolves with raw food, but didnt tested that on Java
@@DeadButAlive1 Did you confuse taming with feeding them to regenerate their health when already tamed or breeding, by chance? You could never, in any version, use meat for taming a wild wolf, wild wolves only eat bones.

"Why Minecraft Creative Mode is Terrifying"
There's a phrase : "Perfection in imperfection" and it has never been truer in Minecraft. We take hostile mobs for granted like when we die to a baby zombie or or a creeper and go "Ugh...why do these exist?!",but without them, the world feels empty, hollow and dead. Its the uncanny feeling because our minds know that nothing is ever truly a perfect 100.00000000% etc. If it seems too good to be true,it probably is. Gives off Truman Show vibes.
As a person who plays peaceful 95% of times and never felt something like this, it _is_ a bit weird now that I think about it.
This shit is nothing compared to the one time my friend turned of mob spawning without me knowing, i swear the only mob that there was was a natuaraly spawned pink sleep i captured,
Unfortunately the player finding a house he didn’t build was debunked. He faked it.
This is a joke right?
😂
I wasn’t to much of a hero brine follower, but on a super flat world in creative my brother and I were building a castle around a village, when we heard an Enderdragon roar. I’ve always thought it was a game file error, but between the atmosphere of a single player world and glitches like that, Minecraft gets really creepy.
Please research the meaning of the phrases before using them. Herobrine and mysterious house video aren't alternate reality games.
Zoomers think everything spooky on the internet is an ARG.
I enjoy peaceful, mostly because i play mobile and fighting mobs in it is so incredibly annoying, but it does really feel lonely, and actually makes cave noises even more eerie. I don't remember if it was a new song or a new cave noise that was added, but i was deep in the mines and it started playing, and it was the most horrifying thing ever because I'd never heard it before so i genuinely blocked myself up in a hole and quit the game. Just being completely alone in the mines and an unknown sound plays when you know there aren't any hostile entities around, it was the worst.
Cue that video with SpongeBob and patrick on that weenie hut Jr's ride
Minecraft peaceful mode kinda captures the feeling of immortality perfectly, you live in a vast area that feels like a paradise with freedom to do anything, but you don't have other humans to interact with sure you have villagers but they are like _dummies_ they won't do much for you. This reminds me of the SCP "E for Entirety" which as the name implies, you live forever. On an island with humans who act like dummies and won't really interact with you like real humans..
I have a super flat creative world that I’ve playing for a decade or so. And I love just mindlessly building towns and structures and such but some of the massive structures can be kinda eerie. Sort of like liminal spaces. Just felt like sharing
20:47 That’s exactly the thing Minecraft was originally supposed to be a horror game
I went to play peaceful mode after watching this video because I wanted to feel this feeling, I wasn’t expecting to feel anything since I’m a massive Minecraft nerd, so I load the world, no cheats, survival, peaceful mode, first, I went into my settings and turned off any texture packs and settings that might make the game less scary, I ran for 3 seconds and instantly, I felt this feeling, it’s almost impossible to describe, it felt like this tingly feeling of expectation
Now set your render distance to tiny and turn fog on.
When i spawn in a world that is on peaceful i shit my pants
4:59 pause. looks like an eye watching from inside the dark room.
I saw it. But it was just weird lighting on the cobblestone...
I hope.
There is no such texture inside minecraft, therefore it is mod or custom resource pack
flower in a flowerpot
@@UncommonAllythe closest flower to that is an oxeye. But then again, they aren't quite that shape. Potentially just the angle.
Uh I think It was a flower 🌸
Once, I was playing Minecraft as usual. I spotted a zombie with full diamond armour, with no other mobs nearby. I started approaching it, hoping to get some armour from it. But then a lightning hits it and a surface cave noise plays two times in a row. I swear to god, I've never pressed Save & quit so fast.
