This might be my last Standard video for a while, but I still want to share a list if I am getting to Mythic with it, even if it is similar to things I have made videos with for the last several months. Enjoy if you want to control the ladder
Funny to see a game against me on your channel (Alusion), wish I could have given you a better match up and apologies that you had to cut some dead content (had to switch devices at one point, so there was unintended rope). Long time watcher of your channel, thanks for all the time and effort you put in creating the content we all enjoy. Enjoy some time off, CGB!
Sorry to hear that CGB, take whatever time you need and prioritize life. We'll be here when you have more time, you kept us entertained for years. Thanks you for all you do
30:15 To answer your question. Red aggro/burn is a consistent viable archetype in standard because 1) it keeps control from bogging down the entire format 2) The decks tend to be cheap, so new players have an easier time getting into the format. 3) The games tend to run fast, meaning tournaments get done at a reasonable time scale. Buy im sure you knew this, but i felt like snarkily answering a rhetorical.
We all appreciate the videos CGB, you're the reason I still love standard. I know it's very different from the normal stuff, but have you ever considered doing limited videos? I think your insight and long term thinking would be really interesting to see in a draft environment.
I usually play a 250 card 5 colour pile. Every once in a while i played against a mill deck and when they realise my deck size they usually just scoop. 47% win rate is certainly worth it
Curious about how many lands that mono-red player had in their deck. In the top 30 cards we saw exactly 5 lands and they curved out to 4 lands in the first 4 turns. That seems incredibly improbable - must be a deck taking advantage of the B01 opening hand shuffler.
@@thefruitfan5616it tries to give you a non basic and a basic with little variation, great to guarantee at least 2 lands per hand, plus the 1 in the first 3 draws
54:13 CGB patronising opponent for crafting Teresian Mindbreaker instead of Jace haha. oh boi... immediately knew he was gonna regret that later on cause pretty sure that Sonio's build and plays four of each. Know thy enemy sensei. We miss you in Standard.
Just FYI, on the last game, them soul partitioning the unearthed mindbreaker wouldn't have done anything since unearth exiles if the card would leave the battlefield by any means. EDITED: This statement is incorrect. See the comment below. Thanks to @littlegeek5159 for the correction. Leaving the original statement for training and assurance purposes :) )
Unearth exiles if the permanent would leave the battlefield, but it doesn't replace other exile effects that might let you replay or otherwise get it back. That's why Meticulous Excavation is worded the way it is; it's designed to rebuy unearth cards from the battlefield before they get exiled.
Including Depopulate over Sunfall is a huge deck building mistake here. Without the latter, you get destroyed by Squee against mono-red most of the time. It’s not worth clearing the board one turn earlier.
I was the planeswalker deck (Hikarin) and don't worry, it is absolutely bad! GG though, i was worried you would jace me out and well we all saw what happened. I'm not a content creator, I was just feeling frisky.
Yesterday I had two games right after each other where I drew no lands for 5 turns and only big spells after having a two land hand with turn 1 and turn 2 plays... twice after each other.... yea shuffler is good.
Hi guys im a new magic player and was wondering if somebody could help me out. So far blue white control is my favorite standard archetype and ive been mostly playing that deck on mtg arena. i looked up some lists and many of the ran like 9/8 plains with ambitious farmhand and lay down arms. why would i not want to run that package like CGB did in this video? fateful absence is a good card but u still go minus 1 in card advantage which seems like not the best trade for a control deck also im curious why he is running depopulate and not sunfall. sunfall costs 1 mana more but seems like a much stronger card overall.
48:00 Such a weird play to plus the emperor. After that you end up with a samurai and emperor on 1. If you plused first you could have had a samurai and emperor on 2.
@lonefirepossum6507 but if they have apot removal the simply use it a turn later. If they don't, however, then Ou remove the other samurai with the firat block and get to keep the emperor.
Probably cgb never gona read this but i will try. Sometimes i feel like those kinda games with mana issues are scripted im someway. It happens 90% of the times against fast decks.
Well done on the Planeswalker deck. These "planeswalker spam" decks are the most lazy composed decks ever. Just throw in Planeswalkers and be done with it. Its cheap and boring to play against.
The daily Historic Brawl games I've played lately and watching how the shuffler scews you, shows just how badly scripted the games are. I've just logging in for dailies and that's it these days. Arena isn't fun anymore.

Your Standard content is 10/10 even If the Decks seem boring. And Just wanted to say. You are cool too :)
Thank you. Hope you return to Standard - you would be missed. Whatever happens, you are cool too!
i don't remember that much anyway, it will be entertaining to watch
YORIONNNNN….Standard is better than the other formats biG DAWG u know it only one that matters
Oh man, milling THREE ossifications was such a gut shot
Hey cgb, i hope whatever you're going through is alright, and i hope you're good. You are cool.
That planeswalker deck feels like the kind of thing a youtuber would do when they're out of video ideas
Thanks for leaving the mana screw game it shows us the real MTG arena experience.
You know you have a supportive community if you ever need anything CTB!!
Yeah we love CBT!
CGK is a great guy!

The win against GWUB Planeswalkers and the loss against the Terisian Mindbreaker deck were great. Thanks CGB!

How about Cut Your Losses with Casualty 2? even 1000 card deck would milled
@@Fessoid Even if anyone played it, after doing it they would need to mill 60 more cards :)
you're the sort of player that's not good for the game.
Wotc can easily fix the problem by having a max deck size but the problem is what should it be
@@newjerseydamo I don't understand, mill isn't any better, and running over 60 cards makes your deck worse 9/10 times

I do the same thing in limited B01 ngl. Play 14 or 15 lands, shuffler gives me 3 and i can just play and draw mostly spells
@@thefruitfan5616it tries to give you a non basic and a basic with little variation, great to guarantee at least 2 lands per hand, plus the 1 in the first 3 draws
30 cards and only 4 lands is kind of insane.
CGB: how many burn spells do you have?
mono red player: YES!
I was very sorry to hear about your loss. Condolences 😢

That three Ossification mill was *mwah* chef's kiss
this deck with added black for breach the multiverse - lots of fun

@@littlegeek5159 I have been corrected. Thank you. I had misunderstood the wording.
I hope you’re doing good, we love you❤
Normally I hate mill but built a Xander EDH deck and absolutely love one-shot milling with Bruvac, Eldritch Pact, Keening Stone, etc
I'm here for the snacks and shuffler complaints.
Wish you the best CGB, I believe you will proverbially mill your problems to death.

29:51 CGB dont play with food

Always is fun a play against monored
The algorithm did not throw this in feed for some reason. The sound / microphone was a little off but not technical to provide details.
Covert, is your Gandalf (the one we see behind you) white or black?
Thalia looks like a pretty strong card
Please play that planeswalker meme deck next. That would be awesome.
I have faced against unearth mill too and that was 'fucking asshole' deck i've ever seen.
Far before the Cut Your Losses deck i was playing.
