Back in the days of Laser Disc, my local store used "Biggles and his adventures in Time' as their demo disc. The dog-fight between the two bi-planes had great movement between the speakers

Great choices of films. I found out last night that the better sound track on Ready Player One is the DTS-X version. I thought the Atmos version was going to great but it was as bland as water. At least it was on my system. Maybe others have better luck.
I can't wait until I get my system fully tuned and rewatch these other films! Hopefully, 7.2.4 while playing Halo will be AWESOME.

John Wick 2 has the best overall sound of the entire series, demo material from start to finish. The catacombs shootout is a sound design masterpiece. The most overlooked audio track ever is the one from the I, Robot blu-ray. It's beyond amazing and, ironically, that disc was released in 2008, in the early stages of blu-ray transfers. When it comes to Tom Cruise, check out Oblivion, Mission Impossible: Fallout, MI: Rogue Nation and Edge of Tomorrow. The latter has a famous intro, with the LFE coming down to really low, sub-sonic levels. That is the ultimate test for your subwoofers, many reported their subs crashing down. Also, there are some scenes in Interstellar that will stretch your subs to their limit. I had some structural damage in my ceiling, after watching that movie :)) The Conjuring is another fine example, with sudden changes in dynamics and a perfect use of your surround channels (all sorts of creepy sounds and voices, all over the sound field).

What an incredible breakdown, and thanks for sharing such a detailed list! Interstellar and Edge of Tomorrow are definitely top picks for pushing the limits of both your audio system and the structural integrity of your home theatre. Moments like these highlight why it’s so important to plan and prepare an adequate structure for a proper cinema experience. From sound isolation to ensuring the room can handle intense low frequencies without unwanted vibrations, a well-thought-out design is key to enjoying these films at their best. Your list is a great reminder of how much thought goes into creating a space that truly respects the art of sound design!

@@RogueHomeCinema , it's important, indeed, but...remember that most of us can't afford the luxury of building a home theater from scratch. It's complicated. I had the luck of finding a decent room when my wife and I bought the house. Decent insulation, no echo from the start, so no need for a major change, acoustically speaking. I'm not even running a room correction software, I kinda hate this approach, I tried it several times, with different results, and I was not pleased at all. So, just manual setup for me. Many times, you can get a better sound just by placing the speakers right, it's not rocket science. Is it perfect? No way, but no room and hi-fi gear are perfect.

It looks like you could do with a bigger Sub to display all of your demo movies on side by side 😜
