3:08:18 The enemy AI will not use Dig if you know Earthquake because of a small but crucial interaction between the two moves. If Earthquake is used against a Pokemon that is in the middle of using Dig, Earthquake is guaranteed to hit through and remove the semi-invulnerability, and the move will deal double damage.
They managed to encode this in an older game, but didn't make Scald do increased damage in the Sun in later gens (it would be too strong if it did, to be fair)
This run is 100% getting me into speedrunning. I've always loved colliseum, and I can see how different it is from other speed runs, and I love how much variance there is! that seems much more....welll.... tolerable than other speed runs XD'
The developers who actually built the game had no prior experience with the Pokemon series. They had previous experience with Dragon Quest games. Which leads me to believe that if we see a Square Enix/GameFreak/TPC project, it might be around a Colosseum and/or XD Gale of Darkness remake, remaster, or sequel. Though it wasn't Square Enix that necessarily developed these games (with The Pokemon Company publishing them). There is so much they can do even based on how the VGC evolved years later (as a doubles format official metagame).
I get excited at Mirror B's losing animation when he says WHAT A NO-NO because either me or my sister was never able to beat him when we were kids, and one time one of us finally beat him and that animation made us SO excited
The heck happened with the run at 3:18:03? Never seen that happen. Also we MUST shout out the true final boss of collesseum being Miror B! The ONLY boss who returns to XD Gale of Darkness! SALSA!
Colosseum and Gale of Darkness are my favorite games in the series. I really hope the Gen 3 spinoffs get a remake once a potential spinoff gen comes around (Let's go being Gen 1's spinoff, and a potential Gen 2 Spinoff being the next game if GameFreak follows their current pattern), as we'd be within a new hardware generation, hopefully with a much needed update to the current 3D engine, and a much better defined roster and hopefully a massive upscaling (more towns/areas, more complexity, open world in the open desert, etc.) of the Orre region given technical advancements allowing for such. Shadow Pokemon were one of my favorite concepts, along with the other altmon of the clonemon and darkmon (Pokemon 4Ever and 2000's TCG Team Rocket Dark set), and I wish altmon would get some amount of recognition outside of Pokemon Go, and not as just a typical forme variant but rather what ColoXD did with stat changes, the psuedo-type, moves, effects, etc. Also the slightly darker, slightly more mature theming of these games is a lot more tolerable, I had this opinion as a kid when they released and I still hold this opinion, especially with the more recent generations, and the environments always had great detail by comparison (honestly, the GC games look better than Gen 8 and 9), plus the music is amazing; though it did have that '90s-'00s flavor of edge that hasn't aged too well, but modernly they could just go for various alt aesthetics and style in place of the edginess.
the host's voice is so sweet. I remember I had a teacher who speaks like that and I cant help but feel sleepy when she is lecturing because of how soothing her voice is to the ears lol
Sean's energy was contagious. There's nothing better then when a runner is excited and is genuinely enjoying the speed-run as opposed to the occasional silent robotic speed-runner that rarely lulls over anything except an RNG Manipulation
Wish I played this game before Pokémon XD. XD is like an extended cleaner version of this game and it's hard to go back to this. Still a good game though.
it was a race, they started the timer at the same time, but used different RNG manipulations for their starter pokemon, which is determined by when you start the save file. which resulted in a minor starting time difference.
Tentacool happens to have really high Special Defense and low Defense so physical moves hurt it more in general, plus Return has a faster animation in this game.
i like that dakim's "upset about losing" animation is giving "cat about to throw up"

@vanesslifeygo and you said this after Hydro Steam was released...

Pokémon Colosseum is such a fantastic game. Can’t wait to find time to watch this.

Such a great run. Huge props to both runners for such a close race
Damn Swift got that lead and refused to let it go, great run from her.
I replayed this game myself not too long ago, great to see it get some love at GDQ. The runners and couch were so entertaining, what a run.
13:19 that’s actually not the only npc you can talk to to forward the progression, there’s a lady on the first floor who also gives you the prompt
This was the first game I ever bought with my own money in elementary school. Still my favorite Pokémon ❤ great run so happy to see it at gdq
So much fun to watch this! Great job, runners & couch!
The ludicolo fight is so nostalgic. What a bop

Let's go orre + hoenn would make my life lol wouldn't need any other games with what's on the market plus that xD
Let's hope someone will do a Pokémon XD speedrun at GDQ now that will be really cool and awesome.
the start is really fun when you have audio sensory issues
the host's voice is so sweet. I remember I had a teacher who speaks like that and I cant help but feel sleepy when she is lecturing because of how soothing her voice is to the ears lol
0:00 people cheering
0:02 people getting sent to the shadow realm for their sins
fantastic run, excellent game, extremely fun commentary!
One of the best pokemon games
🎵 1:13:45 for Miror B. 🎵
Rng abuse is rough in a live run I couldn't imagine trying through nerves and expecting anything short of luck to hit my seed with people watching
Any Pokémon can be a fish if you catch it in a Net Ball.
BEST run at GDQ HANDS DOWN
Swift ruining Sparkle's bits the whole time is top tier comedy, lol
Sean's energy was contagious. There's nothing better then when a runner is excited and is genuinely enjoying the speed-run as opposed to the occasional silent robotic speed-runner that rarely lulls over anything except an RNG Manipulation

Shoutouts to Pokemon Colosseum my first Pokemon game ❤
I came into this thinking it was Pokemon Stadium, and was very confused for a few minutes.
The last battle was really difficult
Some real Dogs In Love gaming.
Watching this back at .25x speed makes it into a surreal horror film
Umm, u ok bro😦
7/10 needs more salsa
You're either for Mirror B Salsa or Mirror B Disco
Oh, hey, Nichole from Dan Jones and Dragons! Awesome!
SALSA
Fun fact: it's "canta" (Spanish for "sing")
Colosseum is the GOAT
I fell asleep to this video last night, woke up just long enough to pause the video then turn my computer off; I have NO idea when he put the wig on.
Normal day in Phoenix
Miku is real, I can’t believe it
Gotta love a good Colosseum run. Such a good game, i wish there was a modern port for it.
"Guys, Rui looks like Misty!"
Ah yes, because... orange hair.
can someone explain why there are 2 people and why they didn‘t strt at the same time? i‘m confused😂
it was a race, they started the timer at the same time, but used different RNG manipulations for their starter pokemon, which is determined by when you start the save file. which resulted in a minor starting time difference.
@@k4l4d1noh alright, fanks for explaning🤝🏽
Gives me a headache watching Return being used on Tentacool when Confusion is super-effective..............
Tentacool happens to have really high Special Defense and low Defense so physical moves hurt it more in general, plus Return has a faster animation in this game.
