Most people are not afraid they just don't have the skills necessary to use the 450 to their full potential.
Actually its just a old username, I had a 05 crf250r that i bought for 3g's and sold it 2 yrs later for 3gs, turned around and bought a yz250 and I love that bike alot more than my old 250f. I will probably never be able to ride the yz to its potential but i sure love the look on peoples faces when i blow by them on their new 450s.
It doesn't mean that it starts better then a carbureted bike, thats what carb overflows are for. It just means that it will shut your bike off if it tips to prevent flooding and possible damage to some components.
I find that the first parts to get trashed in a fall are the shrouds. I wonder how long the shroud-intake duct will last.
i have to change the plugs on my yz250 every few months due to oil and gas fouling them. i have not chnged my plugs on my yz250f since ive had the bike. you also burn more fuel in a two stroke coz even when youre not racing, the rpms are way higher all the time. those are the facts 4 strokes are maintenance friendly and with better cams and intakes and fuel systems than before they can now rival some 2 strokes.
on the other hand, some guys get for 505 style bike so that it can pull them up hills with less trouble, and things like that
@MrLukestowell23 Yamaha was probably thinking along the lines of "try it on one of our bikes.. the one the most experienced riders race on, work out the kinks based on feedback, and if it goes over well with consumers, expand it to the other bikes in our line".

i have a 08 yz250f(4stroke) and a 05 yz250(2stroke) I will say this that a 2 stroke winds up faster than a 4 by a long shot, thats not my opinion but engine mechanics. if you stop at the base of a hill with a 2stroke and want to build enough momentum to get some air,no problem. The power comes on like quick. not as much on a 4stroke, it will still get you up and over nonetheless. however a 4 stroke is more user friendly premium gas and change the oil every couple rides and go.

i have a question. i just got a 2006 yz450f and i used to have a yz400f the 400 was so damn hard to start and had a compression release. this bike isnt nearly as hard and has no compression release is this normal?

It has automatic decompression mechanism on exhaust cam, so it's quite normal!
@derrick19d i know what u mean i have a 2011 yz250 i change my plugs at least every month i in high rpms usually but i usually use 10 gallons of gas every weekend i ride im going 4 stroke when the 2012 yamahas coming out should i get a yz250f or a yz450f im 6'4 190 pound

All bike brands seem to be great. Carmichael won a championship on every bike but Yamaha, and i feel that was because he never rode Yamaha. All new bikes are well proven so it's really based on budget, and preference.

Yamaha, youve always had some cool bikes...BUT OMFG!! (Just the front fender might be worth more than my 05 KX 250f LOOK AT THE DESIGHN!)
haha by the looks of it your a honda fan, ill agree that a bike isnt what makes u fast, but im def thinking going out and spending 7gs on a crf250 will do the trick....haha
why would the 450 and 250 have differnt engine set ups it makes no sense if u guys get wat im saying
@snow4lifMerkley14 If i were you I would start off with a 250f and master that before moving to the 450. I have no doubt that you cannot handle it. Although I think the 450 would give you more arm pump than you want.

Yamahas just counting on the hype to sell their new yz. Sure it might be slightly better then thier last yz but the average joe isnt gonna be miraculously faster cus he goes out to spend 9gs on a new bike.
