You're not the McDonalds of car reviews, I get excited every single time I go to research a car and find your face in the thumbnail. I choose your videos over others for your personality and down to earth approach, the difference between the 'big dogs' and someone like you, is they are not anywhere close to living like 99% of the general population. Their perspectives are from wealth, their perspectives may be beneficial for some tech bro making 150k a year but that simply isn't everyone. I prefer you my friend, keep up the work
I just want to say as someone that has been through mental health issues. Be careful of overworking. It's easy for your stress to build up and accumulate over months or even years and to justify that stress by your work. Make sure your maintaining a support system it's the most valuable thing you will ever have.
I sub to several different car-related channels. Some of them have the classical music beds, some have the drone shots and some, like yours, are just straight to the point. When I watch a Shooting Cars video, I know what I'm getting: high quality without (what I consider) the superfluous fluff. When you're driving a legit fast car and bury the accelerator pedal, your facial expressions tell the story. Your reactions are genuine. Another reason why I'm subbed to your channel is you're *real*. You show emotions, you let us see behind the curtain a bit. Every day at noon I know another episode of Shooting Cars is waiting for me, and even if I don't love the car I'm still going to watch, comment and love the video because I appreciate your work and your content. Thanks for what you do.
What I like the most from this channel (my favorite) is the fact that it is not just reviewing cars, instead it is approaching cars as part of people's personal history. We live a great deal of our lives inside those marvelous steel boxes going places where our lives happen. Like the old slogan of Alfa Romeo German subsidiary "Ohne Herz wären wir nur Maschinen", which translates to 'without a heart, we become mere machines'. Being said that, I commend your work and hope you can manage to find a balance between hard work and self care, as our body is our worktool of utmost importance.
I subscribed to your channel originally because you were cool and sincere, which is your meal ticket in my opinion. Oh and you bring up working smarter not harder, and how you have to work harder. I would like to state that working harder (at least in America) is working smarter. Keep it gangster brother🕶️✌️
I'm like 10 min from Cars & Bids yet Zack feels more accessible. I could never be this vulnerable or personable behind a camera. We appreciate you Zack!
Great video, Zack. I waste the 8-12 minutes on most of your videos, BECAUSE you work your ass off and you put out a quality product. Enjoy your format, your enjoyment from your job, and, gotta say, your backseat reviews. My buddy, whom I love as a brother, is not a small guy either, (he makes fun of me that he could put me in his pocket if need be) but I imagine him every time I see you do a backseat review. He lives in Brooklyn and me in SC, so it's a really cool thing to get that feeling almost each vid. You rock, brother. Am glad you're finally turning a profit! You've earned it! Edit: I don't consider it time wasted 98% of the time
Right? I'm also not a small guy (but shorter than Zack), and when I see the back seats of some cars I think "Oh no way is he going to even try. I wouldn't fit in there...." and he still does it, on camera. Big respect for that.
As we discussed on the podcast- Your job is to interpret everything you feel, hear, smell, etc. when you drive or experience a car into words so that the viewer can feel like they are experiencing it also. I work 60+ hours a week as an engineer, and do YT on the side. I know what you're saying though. Well done!
As a full time single dad I am always hustling time goes so fast. There is so much time that one has to put into this YT endeavor. Keep at it we love the work you do!
I love your channel as a 34 year old woman. Seeing someone from the next generation review cars that I remember seeing brand new at the time is so special. And, as someone who does suffer from bad anxiety, we tend to be incredibly hard on ourselves and our mental health is exacerbated. I enjoy your videos and I think there’s some good quality to your videos. You even having subs is a testament to it. Edit: I’ve sent a few vids to my mom and she enjoys your videos because there’s no fluff and you cut to the chase.
The intro is truly the greatest hook invented. Like magnetism.. When I was having a bad day at work in Elizabeth, N.J..- your videos would pop up, I'd click and your enthusiasm was infectious within first 25 seconds. Lifetime subscriber here after the 3rd video I saw a couple years ago. Definitely a source of sunshine in today's world. Plus, any car I think about buying a car- surprisingly you have a damm video on it leading to how deeply involved and passionate you are. Time consuming like a mofo for sure. Thank you for your hard work. Uggg, just recently bought a 2001 Chevy tracker 4x4 stick shift with manual crank windows. If interested in reviewing, I'll send email and take a few days off to visit sweet home Chicago . Roll on rustoleum paint job FROM HOME DEPOT does the trick from afar but looks I don't know however the paint does spark conversion which is what a hobby and imagination in life is always about. Continued success and blessings
I feel you man. It's a struggle when I have to work every day, and on the days I decide to have a day off, I feel like I should be working instead. Videos don't make themselves
Zack, keep doing what you're doing. I've said it before, your passion and love of cars comes right out. That's why you have so many followers. Ahmed has a passion for Lexus and Toyotas. Scotty has a passion over many topics of vehicles lol, and they're both long time mechanics. Bill of Curious cars is another reviewer that has a unique personality going on about the weather, birds, history of cars 😂. All of you offer something unique, and been watching each of you for many years. You've grown your channel the last 9 yrs and with your work ethic it will continue to grow! ❤
I admire that you put so much effort into your videos. It really comes across that you are a genuine guy on your videos and that you truly love your work. Meeting you has been one of my favorite experiences as a TH-camr, you are doing an excellent job.
I admit I don't watch all your videos because I'm just not that interested in brand-new cars. I don't even trust a car until it has 100,000 miles on it. But I appreciate the care and attention you put in to what you do, and the consistent format you follow is wonderful. You also judge each vehicle on its own merits instead of slagging everything that isn't a European luxury car or a bread-and-butter Japanese vehicle. Keep up the good work!
I always watched a lot of TH-cam and I love it. I'm medically retired from the Military. I just started making my own content on my channel. It's more of a hobby to keep me more active and such. TH-cam and other streaming and content channels are interesting for our times. I'm Turing 37 next month, been retired since 2014. You need something to work on. BTW Zach, I love your channel and content, you'rereall and we appreciate that 👏🙏
Zack, you are such a great person and we all enjoy these ASK ZACK videos. Really shows your passion for what you do and how dedicated you are. I appreciate you and all you do!
You're too hard on yourself. Everyone is their own greatest critic, especially those ambitiously passionate in their work. It'd be concerning if you weren't. Because you've had such a strong work ethic for such a long time, it's become your new normal and you don't personally feel like you're working hard when you most certainly are. Keep up the great work! While it might be your goal to drive every car, one side effect is that a lot of cars with dwindling numbers are getting documented via digital media in your reviews. Even after the last of a make/model succumbs to time, your library of reviews will exist as a record to what once was. That's how I see it at least. Definitely not the McDonald's of car reviews; I'd say closer to blue collar Library of Congress. Hope this message finds you well and in great health and spirits!
I have commented on your content before-- and I might've sent a friend request :P ) Anyway, guy with ADHD and autism here and I really appreciate the 8-12 minute format. Long enough to be informative for the car nerd, but short enough to keep me focused. I absolutely love that you do a whole spectrum of cars (See what I did there?), can you please promise this? Never change.
I like your videos. It's crazy how you're usually so optimistic about everything which is a nice change of pace from a lot of people who just piss all over everything that isn't what they like. Plus you're like the only person I've let drive some of my cars. Not even my wife will touch most of my vehicles.
I've been subscribed to your channel for awhile now. It actually started from when you reviewed an Alfa Romeo Milano Silver. I could relate, since I have a 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Gold Automatic. I made a couple TH-cam videos about the car and No one watches them. I have a total of 9 subscribers. But I know my content doesn't interest anyone. I'm glad you are doing well. I'll keep watching!
Zack I am so glad i stumbled upon your channel. Your reviews are straight to the point. Also like how you add a little bit of history to your content about cars. I am huge car fan and I have driving my fare share of cars over my life time. My dream car is a ford mustang first generation. I have ridden in a Skoda several times in my life. Thanks for the hard work Zack. I am fan for life if you are ever in Texas and a quick car to review my Corolla is available to you. ❤
Thanks for sharing! ❤ As a part time content creator, I kind of knew what to expect before clicking on the video. It's a lot more work than it seems on the surface. To your point about "finding the right video to watch": wondering if you would be open to getting some help with your website. I think it would be awesome to be able to find the exact car / transmission combo with a proper search (TH-cam is not great at this). Lastly, I just want to say that your channel is great and we need more channels just like yours.
Thank you for sharing man.. this was very inspiring and motivating! I work at an Amazon FC and upload content when I can plus I have a podcast and it’s not easy to do with a full time job plus being a husband and a father of a 3 year old. And you’re absolutely correct on the working harder to compensate the not being smart deal. I’m in the same boat and understand every word that you said. Thank you for your complete honesty. I truly mean that. There’s nothing more beautiful than an honest down to earth transparent human being. Thanks for this video! Best of luck in your future endeavors!! 14:19
This is awesome information for viewers to hear. You really do go above and beyond most creators in terms of time and effort. I have realized that mental health is very important and I have started taking Sunday's off entirely. Would I like to have videos posted on the latest and greatest information to keep up with others? Sure. Is that realistic as a one person show? No really. My advice to anyone would be try to be unique in some way, work hard, and success will likely follow. But my goal might actually be to own an LC500 Convertible 👀
I think almost all of your videos I learn a thing or two, it's not just mindless nonsense, & if you don't like something about the car you're reviewing; you let us know & if there's something you love about it; we hear about it...sometimes three or four times!
Thanks for sharing these bits of yourself, Zack. I'm thoroughly enjoying your video's, learning about US-spec cars is very nice. And I share your love for wagons ;) Greetings from a Dutch petrolhead.
My question is what do you do to review or for these manufacturers? I honestly have to question manufacturers loaning out $100K vehicles if all their return is a 10ish minute video. You are writing somewhere too? If literally all you need to do is pop out a 15 minute video to get a week with a car we could never even dream to afford I'm sure I speak for everyone when I ask how do we get in contact with these manufacturers?
All I post is the 10-15 minute video, and that's more than some other people. A lot of people write sub 500 word articles on their press cars. Some people only do a Tik Tok or two. It's all about exposure. From what I've been told, each press loan costs the manufacturer about $500. So think of it as $500 worth of advertising. Now I don't get that money, that's the gas they put in, delivery fees, cleaning fees, etc. They get exposure for their car, I get content for my channel. So why me, when I don't have a big following? Well the manufacturers want the car to be seen from lots of angles. So big channels as well as smaller. But I know a lot of PR people, I've worked with manufactures for years so there is a level of trust as well.
zack, need your expertise ! trying to get the wife into an SUV for christmas. top 3 in your personal opinion that won’t cost an arm & a leg? hope to keep it for 7-10 years! loved the video, brotha. keep up the outstanding work

Hard facts.
100% this
Couldn't agree more.

I second this . Zach feels authentic and that’s why I trust and enjoy his videos . Good work Zach , we are rooting for you
Zach is the epitome of chasing your dreams
I love your videos because sometimes the older cars arent a prestine restored example. They got grime and rust and just have a great story.

Oh, and I have autism, so there's that. Can't stand counsellors or therapists, so I just power through everything.
As a full time single dad I am always hustling time goes so fast. There is so much time that one has to put into this YT endeavor. Keep at it we love the work you do!

Ty for the insight sir! Goes a long way for small time creators. Appreciate your work 👨🏻🍳🫡
great video! more people need to see this
In other words, this is a job! Thanks for a peek behind the curtain.
im happy for you . for your age this is good. it seems enjoyable.

I just want you to know Zack when I comment on your videos it's most of the time from experience being I am a older viewer it's called Constructive Criticism and it's only that I want you to learn so you make even better and informative Videos And it's from one car nut to another and I think highly of you.
What setup do you use for your editing?
I use iMovie on a 2022 iMac. It's basic and I've been using iMovie since 2009, so it's like the back of my hand at this point.

You're a very humble guy, sincere and make great car videos! Your instagram posts are great too. Keep going🫂 🇧🇷
