Thank you Aksel! This is a beautiful song, the best, I think, of early Gordon Lightfoot! Thanks for taking time to watch and comment! I hope all is well for you Aksel! - Glenn
@@sandi14482 Hi Sandy, Yes, I have recorded a video in the past of GL's "Song for a Winter's Night" here: th-cam.com/video/zwL_vMa4aZE/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching! - Glenn
Thank you Mousehead! I have loved this song for so long, since I first heard it back in 1969. This is Lightfoot's tribute to Orillia where he grew up. I am so pleased that you feel that this came out well! - Glenn
Beautiful Glenn. Watching a bunch of you music videos with my 85 year old mum. We play many of these songs but in campfire style compared to your refined fingerpicking style. Really like your work! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jim! How nice of you to listen with your mum! That is wonderful to know! "Pussywillows, Cattails" has been one of my favorite songs for 50 years! Thank you for listening and taking time to comment! You and your mum stay safe and be well! - Glenn
Hi Lorraine -- thank you so much for listening and taking the time and trouble to comment! This has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it in 1969. So I am very gratified that you liked my version of Gordon Lightfoot's great tune.
What a generous comment. Thank you so much. And thank you for the comment about the singing. This song takes a certain range so I have to stretch myself a little. Thank you so much for listening and commenting!
Hi eyeandmind -- Thank you so much! During the winter months when it's so dreary outside, it's not hard to spend a couple of hours every day seeing what I can get recorded. Thank you so much for listening. I really appreciate you comment! - Glenn
Yes, the 12-fret Martin 000-28VS is really something. Wide nut (1 13/16") and big fat neck (mod-V) but if you can get used that, this guitar has a lot of depth and warmth for an OM size guitar. This guitar is now 10 years old so it seems to be coming into its own now. Thank you so much for the comment -- you would enjoy this guitar, I think!
Thank you Bill. I am using a Fred Kelly heavy "Slick Pick" www.elderly.com/fred-kelly-slick-pick-thumbpick.htm. I am using my bare fingers with fairly short fingernails, but I am plucking the strings with my nails. I have very stiff, hard nails that hold up well. Pussywillows, Cattails is in 3/4 time, so I have developed a method of picking that supports the 3/4 time. I will have to play this song and figure out what I am doing before I could teach it to anyone. Thank you again for your comment! - Glenn
Sweetly flow the guitar strings like tripping down a trail Wandering to yesterday There's no way we can fail Innocence in evergreens Watched there by the dow peering from behind the branch Her bed of bows below
Hi Freddy. The guitar mics are Rode NT55 mics. They are NT5 mics with omni-directional capsules on them. I prefer omni small diaphragm condenser (SDC) mics for guitar because they are truer to the real guitar sound and have no proximity effect common to cardioid SDC mics. Sorry it took me a while to respond here -- I did not see your comment until today! - Glenn
Hi John -- Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. Both the Martin 000-28VS and the Gibson AJ are great guitars, but they are very different from each other. Have fun with the search! - Glenn
Wow! You have a beautiful voice. How long have you been singing? You play the guitar very well also. By the way, Glenn, Amanda here. I'll see if I can put a video of me playing pussy willows on flip up on my TH-cam channel
Hi Amanda! Thanks for your kind comments. I have been singing since as long as I can remember. I started playing the guitar and singing at age 16 so that is almost 60 years ago. I'll look forward to your recording! - Glenn
A sensitive arrangement which brings out the beauty of this great song. Bravo!
