Crazy how practically all of those cars on the grid hold legendary status today. The race commentator has so much knowledge of everything that is happening, he even knew the name of Justin Bell's fiancé. How I wish I was old enough at the time to appreciate this era of endurance racing.
@@MontyMotorsport same was for the Marcos with 6L Chevy .. running nearly 'on idle' on stomping up the hill from LeMans start grid under the Dunlop Loop and towards TertreRouge .. it was for me the time as I was in military and the Marcos just sounded like a 'Diesel Engined Truck' on his low rpm .. or like a 'Marder' tank 😁 .. first time this happened I had my back towards the pits and did not realise what type of car just was on the way .. I really thought a little grenadiers armoured tank will come to the top of the hill .. as it simply sounded like
I was there. Still have my pass. And Mercedes VHS promotional video of their clk-gtr. You always knew when the Panoz came by. And thought the Morgans were moving chicanes. Classic cars for the memories. Thanks for sharing.
What a drive by a young Alan McNish! Probably the highlight of the year for Porsche as they didn’t challenge for the title at all like Mercedes and Schnitzer did. Shame Schnitzer challenge faltered at Laguna Seca but was good that the title fight went down to the last round unlike the following year where it was a Mercedes benefit. Thanks again for uploading this season. I thought such footage had been lost with time.
Porsche received some pretty hefty intake restrictor adjustments from the FIA throughout the season, meaning the GT1s were running at around 580 bhp instead of the 630-650 bhp of the McLarens and Mercedes.
This channel is an absolute goldmine of footage. Glad to be subbed. Also damn that mechanic was PISSED! I sure wouldnt want to be the pit crewman that screwed up, you could tell he was gonna chew his head off.
Cara, esses resumos são MARAVILHOSOS!! Não existem palavras pra descrever!!! Corridas maravilhosas e uma guerra pra ver esses carros fodões se degladiando curva por curva...
Thanks for posting these vids. These cars are mythical to me eg the Cerbera speed 12 (from another race in this championship) is a spectre. l only ever saw it once at Goodwood then it disappeared except for Gran Tourismo 1 or 2 on the PS1. And l only ever saw the Benz CLK flying up in the air with Mark Weber at the wheel.
Thanks 👍🏁 Its a great era of motorsport to relive. In a way having so much of 80s and 90s in my archive, I'm not missing current motorsport. It's too sterile now.
The CLK never flew! It was the CLR, a completely different car in a different class. CLK GTR and CLK LM was GT1 cars and the CLR was a Le mans GT prototype (LMGTP)
The Panoz shows, that americans are able to make a competitive car, out of a old design. With this GT car and later a LMP racer. They had a violent sound. Was rooting for Magnussen in 98
McLaren needed a whole new design to compete with the pure race cars Porsche and Mercedes were building for 98. Also by then McLaren were running Mercedes engines in Formula 1, going on to win Championship in 98/99. BMW had agreed to enter Formula 1 with Williams who built there LMP racer, that went on to win Le Mans in 1999. 👍🏁
That's why I don't like BOP its fake and doesn't allow for one team to have unique advantages have no illusions McLaren-BMW were up there on merit with Mercedes that said JJ Lehto was probably the quickest driver in the field and Mercedes CLK GTR was the quicker car generally this circuit probably didn't suit McLaren-BMW's package so well so you see them a bit further down the order add to this Porsche had started behind and were catching up all the time hell if they had had BOP back then even the Lotus Elise GT1 would be competitive much as I love that car this would not have been accurate.

It was a great era. You could feel the Panoz thunder under your feet. 🏁👍

These are some of my absolute favorite cars ever. The McLaren F1 GT, The Mercedes CLK CTR, all of those 90s GT cars are just amazing

Thanks! Silverstone round for me. The ground shook, every time a Panoz blasted by! 👍🏁

Thanks 👍🏁 Got plenty more GT racing coming same time everyday 😃

The amazing end of an amazing season!! Thank you so much for upload!!!
Glad you enjoyed. I'll be uploading more 90s motorsport soon. 😀🏁
A melhor época do automobilismo GT mundial, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998 e 1999. Máquinas incríveis.

There's nothing old about it.
Amazing 🤩
Its a shame of bmw to let the so successful schnitzer team die at the end of 2020
top vid thanks for sharing
And the legend that is Alan Mcnish was born.
Noooo... that was the last race of the year :( do you have 1998 races too?
I do 🙂 Probably upload after I upload BPR 1996 👍🏁

Clean extremely beautiful cars. Not too edgy like today

I hope these cars will be part of Forza Motorsport line up
If they will have BOP at that time, Schnitzer-McLaren will stay in championship I guess
