Great reactions, great personality, keep up the good work!🙂 I've loved this film right from the very get-go. As a confirmed die-hard fan of the sitcom 'Spaced', I was awaiting 'Shaun Of The Dead's release with considerable anticipation, and was fortuitous enough to win a ticket to experience a week or so before its nationwide cinema release, as part of a double-bill screening with 'An American Werewolf in London' (a scene of which was paid direct homage to in 'Shaun').
At this same event, I also managed to take my opportunity to speak briefly with Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright in the foyer just prior to the screening, and congratulated them on the film (and undoubtedly came across like an unashamed geeky Pegg fanboy... sorry, Edgar).
Needless to say, it was a particular highpoint of my 2004, and instantly cemented my love for the extended cinematic** universe these guys had already begun creating with 'Spaced' back in 1999. (I've already dropped a recommendation for 'Spaced' on your 'Hot Fuzz' reaction video, as I'm sure several other folks more than likely have, too).
** Yes, I know 'Spaced' wasn't a movie, but it was immediately evident that Edgar Wright was already displaying an impressive directorial style when it came to the wealth of cinematic techniques he employed - it was obvious he was likely to go far.

I liked Zombieland a lot, but I don't care if I ever see it again. I always want to see any Wright movie again, like the Coen bros' - exquisitely crafted, with previously missed details popping out every time. Took me 3 or 4 viewings just to get "we're coming to get you, Barbara" - which kinda blew my mind.

As everyone else has said Hot Fuzz is next and a must, I actually watch Hot Fuzz the most out of the 3 films, that and their TV series Spaced, which you can see the origin of a lot of what they do in these films and many of the cast. The way Natalie was laughing through some of the moments in the film, i could totally hang with her,lol When my friend and i saw fargo in the theater he and i burst out laughing at one particular scene and we were the only ones to at that moment..

I rewatched this so many times and always get something new.
Glad you enjoyed the movie and get a lot of the british humour. Always a pleasure to see you two :)
If you rewatch it, you'll notice that the people at the begining of the film appear as zombies later on.
Apparently Stephen King appears as a zombie outside the winchester (and I'm pretty sure I spotted him as well)
I had the Electro album that Shaun was playing when he said "Don't scratch it" to Pete, while what Shaun was doing is referred to as "scratching"... that line always makes me smile.

I love this movie. I never get tired of it and I've seen it so many times. The script and the humor is so tight in it and there's so many jokes that pop out at you more on subsequent views. And Edgar Wright is such a fun director. As I'm sure others have already mentioned, you should definitely check out the other two films these guys collaborated on, Hot Fuzz and The World's End.

I don't really like this movie, the plot is weak, not many good gags and overall it's just depressing more than funny.
Hot Fuzz on the other hand is genius! One of the best movies ever! Cinematic art, which is referenced in film schools for its mastery!
World's End is junk, just more depressing portrayals of people who either ruined their lives or are boringly ordinary...and that's just not funny.

@@pistonburner6448Absolutely fair comment - and the general audience vibe reflects your viewpoint. Personally, I love ‘THE WORLD’S END’ because it has much to say about the modern British propensity to embrace ‘loserism’ as a quality (and I say this AS a Brit myself!). I get totally why it doesn’t work for audiences as the first two do, though - and, as I say, the reception to the movie backs up your opinion completely.

    • @moonlitegram
      @moonlitegram 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@pistonburner6448 The plot isn't weak. I mean its a simple plot, but simple doesn't equal weak or bad. Its fine if it doesn't resonate with you, but claiming its weak when its actually has a really tight story structure with strong set ups and pay offs is kind of absurd.
And I guess the humor isn't your taste either. But they did manage to work in a joke at pretty much every beat of this film. So the gags are plenty and they work for a lot of people obviously. Although I'll be honest, I have no clue how you find one of these films funny, and not the other two. They're all written by Pegg and Wright and the humor is really similar as such. I can see having a preference to one or the other, but only finding one funny seems really strange to me.
As far as the film school stuff, Wright reuses a lot throughout the films. Most of what you could teach students with in Hot Fuzz, you could do so in this film as well. So I think that point is moot as well.

Hot Fuzz still only cost £12 million ($15 million US), which is a fraction of something like Zombieland, but they really perfected the genre they were going for. I mean, aside from the _obvious_ one that he can't seem to muster the foresight to make a reservation some place _nice._ This is _London_ we're talkin' about. It's a major metropolitan _city._ I'm pretty confident in saying there are pubs all over _town._ Take Liz some place _else._

And that's how it's done. You want to kill a _vampire,_ plant a wooden stake in its heart. You want to kill a _werewolf,_ shoot it in the heart with a silver bullet. But if you want to kill a _zombie,_ remove its head or destroy its brain.

I enjoyed all three of the Wright movies but 'Hot Fuzz' is still my favourite. If they are not on your react list, may I suggest 'Paul'? Pegg and Frost team up again, only in the United States as a couple of science fiction geeks who end up travelling across country with an extra terrestrial named Paul, voiced by Seth Rogen. Not a fan of Mr. Rogen but he was pretty good in this one. Also a classic horror/ kind of comedy you might enjoy, 'An American Werewolf in London' from 1981! Really enjoyed watching you two react to 'Shaun of the Dead'!

Classic movie, i watched with my sons many moons ago. Im sure people have pointed out hot fuzz to watch which is the same people and i think worlds end which are the cornetto trilogy! Its just the english way head to the pub to meet up. Were so predictable like that. Ive got an old series of films that are from the60s called carry on films. Typical british humour and very un pc but a staple to watch growing up. My faves were carry on up the khyber and carry on camping or any of the hospital ones

Hello, watching this for the second time, great fun. Hoping you'll do hot fuzz, along with lock stock and two smoking barrels and snatch soon. Just a thought and I know you don't do music reactions but your channel name does start with (sound) so I thought maybe you could react to Hi Ren by Ren, if you haven't heard it already, it is probably one of the most amazing performances for years, shot in a live one take. Ren fans will flock to see your reaction and along with the movies mentioned you will know doubt get a lot of new British subs. Love your channel, always look forward to your content. 🇬🇧🙂just a quick edit, if you do watch hi ren and like it, watch the tale of jenny and screech, full version after that, it is genius. They're not just songs bit works of art. Thank you. Just had to do another edit. You definitely don't have sound in your channel name. I really must fact check before i have a couple of drinks and start rambling, i do apologise lol

3:32 I once watched this movie on DVD. There was a gag reel. It showed a clip of these two actors reciting this whole scene with _very_ different accents.
It started with Peter impersonating one of the Beatles and saying, "I'm not sayin' it was you. I'm sayin' it was Ringo."

19:06 DVD's typically give you the option to pick up your viewing of a movie some place _other_ than the very beginning. There's a listing of the different scenes, and on the DVD for _this_ movie, this scene was labeled "The Doppel Gang."
