In a way, his mother was even worse than his father. His father stole his childhood, but his mother stole his entire life.

Always been my favorite spiderman villain, he has a backstory similar to peter in a way, both grew up unpopular and bullied with a love for science, both have radiation experiments gone wrong resulting in their super powers, only difference is doc turns villainous.

Honestly I like the origin where him and Peter actually have a history with one another it seemed really tragic if you have to fight your own mentor

If he only met him as a child, sure. But I think Norman would work better at that. The man he saw as another father figure turned into the worst nightmare of his life.

@@thefreelancequeen fair enough. Would have been great though if Peter and Ock had similar relationship all the way back to spider-man(2002).

He's my favorite villain merely for the fact that we both share the same name, which is rather uncommon.

I actually have that comic in my dresser drawer right now! I really like how they had it that he still loved his ex-fiancee and during the fight with Spider-Man he just...gave up...once his experiment failed that would have otherwise saved her life. No outrage that he couldn't fail because he was so smart. No taking his emotions out in the fight and becoming that much more deadly a foe. No...he just GAVE. UP.

His origins in Spider-Man 2 and the ps4 game gave me an idea on how he would be adapted again:
Otto Octavius would be the son of Mary Octavius and was abused by bullies in school due to their jealousy of his intelligence. He was also abused by his father before he died of alcohol overuse, leaving him with his mother, who approved of his intellect. In college, he dreamed of building mechanical limbs that could help mankind with their struggles on the human body, which was made fun of by other students, with Norman Osborn being the only one to be fascinated by that idea. Norman and Otto would then become lab partners and friends before creating Oscorp Industries. However, their friendship becomes strained because of Norman going obsessed with genetics, even wanting to cure his body from its deteriorating disorder, by using some sort of enhancer. Otto would become worried for Norman, but when he tried to calm him down, he was fired. Otto then built his own lab and became a bit famous, and eventually hired Peter Parker. He becomes a mentor to Peter and teaches him about intelligence, becoming a second father figure to Peter after Uncle Ben. He is eventually approached by Osborn, who wanted Otto’s assistance to win the Nobel Prize. He makes a deal with Norman that he’ll help him build the fusion reactor, a power reactor with sustainable renewable energy that would give unlimited power using tritium, and other forms of energy, if he helps fund his own research on creating robotic limbs. Norman accepts this deal, and throughout a few episodes, the two would begin to rebuild their friendship and eventually get the reactor ready with the help of Otto’s wife Rosalie Octavius (Otto met her at college, and they fell in love while studying. However, this romance led to his mother’s death, because she didn’t approve her son’s relationship, leading them to argue until she got a heart attack). He and Peter also work together in creating four mechanical arms that would help keep the reactor stable, and they were named Flo (the top right one), Moe (the top left one), Harry and Larry (the bottom ones). He controls the arms through neural interface, and controls an artificial intelligence in the harness to make the arms do what he says. However, since the AI would have the potential to give him brain damage, made an inhibitor chip on the top of the button to activate them to protect his higher brain function. The experiment begins and Otto and Norman manage to make a successful fusion reaction with the tritium, creating a sun like orb. However, it goes awry when it begins absorbing magnets, but an anxious Otto refuses to shut it off, claiming he’ll try to stabilize it. However, the reactor overloads and explodes, killing Rosie and 30 other people. Otto managed to survive the blast, but the harness fused to his spine, rendering the arms stuck to his back. The inhibitor chip was also destroyed in the explosion, making the AI affect his brain, but making the arms gain their own consciousness, each of them representing a part of his personality: Flo representing his pride, passion for science, and love for his family, Moe representing his aggression, anger, and hatred, Harry representing his timidness, and Larry representing his fear of failure. The arms awaken in the hospital and kill the doctors trying to cut them off of the harness, and begin to examine the room and each other. Harry and Larry communicate, while Flo and Moe develop a rivalry on who’s the strongest due to being jealous of each other. When Otto wakes up, he is horrified on what he witnessed, before the arms get him out of the hospital and back to his now destroyed home. He tried to commit suicide out of depression, but the arms convince him not to and try to cheer him up. They use equipment to make a tv, but this leads to Otto to see Norman taking credit for both projects and blaming him for the accident. Enraged, he decides to expose Norman as a liar and reveal a conspiracy (which involves Norman’s transformation into the Green Goblin) that he theorized on Oscorp, making the arms get a new purpose. He forms the Sinister Six (consisting of Vulture, Electro, Sandman, Rhino, and Kraven (replacing Scorpion) in order to get his revenge, while also forming an alliance with Mister Negative, seeing Spider-Man as an obstacle and threat to his plot. He also releases the Devil’s breath onto the city (with some persuasion by the arms) to expose Norman as its creator.

What sucks is those issues of Spider-Man Unlimited aren’t available to read they jump around on Marvel Unlimited and it isn’t collected anywhere. So you’d have to track down the individual issues.

Every character both heroes and villains alike had a tragic past. So I sympathize with both Spider-Man and Octavius.
And yet Elon Musk is trying to link the human brain up with an AI. According to Octavius, that's a bad idea.
