    Excellent comparison. It clicked for me to see the similarities between JJOS and MPC3, making me less apprehensive about the upgrade and inevitable transition.
    JJ's a legend in my books and He definitely changed the game and deserves his flowers for doing what Akai failed to accomplish.
    Back then I was wishing he could have done something for the XL. That unit is like the enigma.

    Good to see someone talking about JJOS 3. Most JJOS vids out there mostly just talk about OS2XL. Obviously they're similar but I just prefer the OS3 workflow, which is why I was excited to see MPC3. Already felt familiar.

    Okay, you actually made since lol! I was very reluctant about the MPC3 update, seeing a lot of the UI and workflow will change. Coming from the an oldskool MPC background and having a MPC 2000XL & MPC 2500
    that I used for many years, then getting my MPCX in 2019 and becoming efficient with that, not realizing I embraced that workflow as well. You are absolutely correct, some of us (and only my opinion) old heads may be holding on to the tradition of that original workflow, fighting change. You actually opened my eyes with this comparison, and made it more clear to me about my dilemma on updating or not. ….and just to be clear I’m going to update for the simple fact of learning this workflow now and be ahead of the curve, because years down the line we know Akai will always drop another update that everyone is going to want, and guess what? You will have to update your unit, and now forced to learn the workflow years later.
    Thank you sir!

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad it helped. I felt the same way. I've thought about not updating because visually it's a huge change but I cant bypass the workflow enhancements out of stubbornness. I'm used to how it looks now and 2.15 almost looks nostalgic already bit the new waveform and track mixer seem like they are going to be a huge improvement and enjoyable.

    @remyvegamedia 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You're completely right. I had never seen JJOS like that and it is pretty similar in principle with some of the changes on 3.0.
    I came from 2000XL in my early days (never used JJOS though) and I guess I'm one of the very few who has been hoping for bigger changes within the platform. I get that changes can throw things off when you're settled in, but I've had to make so many big changes over the years that I'm just not averse to it anymore as long as I can be objective in my assessment of what I may gain in terms of efficiency and reduced friction in the workflow.
    I think they're going in the right direction, personally.

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree and I like how you put that "reduced friction in the workflow" it looks like that's what they are promising and I'm hoping it lives up to. I think it will, especially with the mixer since now you don't have a bunch of empty tracks, moving around will be quicker when your mixing.

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it's exactly the visual change that makes ot seems like a huge change. I still see the same workflow. Song mode is still available of you don't want to look at the arranger but really that arranger is just a multitrack grid view.

  • @forsale313
    @forsale313 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for this comparison, this makes the MPC 1000 even more valuable to me (with JJOS). I have yet to replace the switches on the one I got used for a steal. I'm looking forward to working with it just as much as I am looking forward to the MPC 3.0 firmware. I'm mostly interested in finding out how the desktop version is going to change because a some point its going to have to accommodate the Standalone Unit. I use intel powered tablets with older MPC controllers so I'm able to run 3rd party VST's and still have touch screen access to everything with a small form factor. But at any rate, We just have to wait and see what Akai gives us to use. Either way We always get something We can use to create our Own form of Music.

      OS3 has some nice workflow improvements. But since memory is very limited on these machines JJ had to drop features. So you can dual boot between OS-es.
      For example. OS2XL, has more sound editing options. Like after touch LFO, etc. so you can play stuff with vibrato or modulate filter with after touch.
      Also it has an Instrument program which is dope for multi samples.
      All in all, the MPC1000 is still a valuable piece of gear which I hold dear to my heart.

    I don't even want to watch any reaction or first hand video about MPC3.0 or even read the comments. What is going on here?
    Akai made it 10 times better and gave us everything we asked for and MORE!! Yet people complained like there is wages protest. Damn
    Since MPC Touch came out this was AKAI's direction. DAW in A box! and it has been in standalone since 2017. Why people are saying "oh it a DAW NOW just give us a Mouse and a Keyboard!!!" WHAT?? it was a DAW in a box man where were you living? probably in sample edit mode and nowhere else. That's why they are shocked.

    no man, the paragon isnt fair. JJ made a really revolutionary genius move, adding a TON of cool features (i think jjos on many levels is still superior to the current mpc's) WITHOUT getting rid of the sequence\track\program paradigm. now with mpc 3 the programs are lost forever, unless they hear all the criticism. i think mpc3 will be overall bad for the creative community worldwide if they dont bring back the programs.

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @delfiobacco7156 JJ definitely did but I would never say it's superior to the new MPCs. It does have to give thanks too JJ forsure..it really does take a lot of inspiration from him. Programs are NOT gone in MPC 3 that's just a misconception you can just take a few minutes and look into. They are tied to tracks so it works slightly different but yes you are able to load them and build new programs on tracks and save those for use later.

      @@LiftedNoise they are gone from the STRUCTURE, i know they are not formally gone, but i for example cannot point multiple tracks to a single program (i know the midi workaround, but it isnt the same thing for many many reasons). of course i think current mpc's are more advanced in many areas, but with the resources available, i think jjos was more forward than current line. but also from an absolute point of view jjos is in some peculiar areas superior (sustain loops in keygroups, step recording, time signature changes, next sequence switching options, many many little details)
