I know pre-filling the oil filter is common practice. Recently I heard that some manufacturers say (strictly demand) not to, because prefilling introduces the possibility of contaminants because you are filling in front and behind the filter "wall" that is in the filter and all of the oil will pass through the filter first if you do not pre-fill It will then remain a closed system. (it will have a smaller chance of particulates "sneaking by" because even oil from straight from the bottle may have "junk" in it. . I thought it made sense. Evidently, it is mandatory by some manufactures. I certainly pre-filled for years but I jump at the chance to do less work. Thanks for the video.

After 3 or changes on my 2007 Liberty I found the easiest way to get to the filter is from the top by removing the serpentine belt for easy access and unscrewing it by hand. This also gives better access if you need to use a filter wrench.

I watched the entire video to see if you called out the size of the oil filter wrench. Is it a 73mm??

My problem is tiny oil leak. Checked filter saw no issue put everything back. Leak was gone for about 2 weeks then returned. Im going to replace with new filter and see what happens.
    Hint
I removed my filter from the top came out easily. Also on the filler cap. What a pain in the ass that is. I removed the rubber gasket and wrapped one and a half times with electrical tape around where the gasket was and problem solved.
Haven't swapped filter yet waiting for spring. Hope that works.

I have a2004 jeep liberty V6 Would there be a reason why my oil smells burnt? Hate to part it. Love my jeep❤️😁

if it died and wont crank it means you ran it low on oil and it probably would need a rebuild at least ,
if its still running than either your running it low on oil or you need to change it more often you can send your oil in to testing places i've herd but i've never done it .
