I think one reason Aladdin's TV series is often overlooked is it doesn't show anything that changes the flow of the franchise. There's a lot of content exclusive to it like Iago's girlfriend, Genie's girlfriend, and one of Genie's former masters still being allive. However, if you were to watch the Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves back-to-back, you couldn't tell the TV series even existed.
animefan25 well, that one was probably more a Hercules episode since it takes place outside the series time line (it’s after King of Thieves since Jasmine says they’re married)
The Aladdin series really did leave an impression on a younger me, like there is a reason why Jasmine is my favourite Disney Princess and it's because of this series.
And Jasmine is sexy as well as beautiful! I'ma dude, yeah, but while I never did anything vulgar like jerking off to her, her beauty and touch of sexy really made me love her! Plus, the way they animate her in the series is incredible, and she's simply amazing to see! Eden was great too!
Same here. She kicks Mozenrath's ass, punches out a guy for messing up her wedding, sacrifices herself to save the life of a child, cares and goes well out of her way to help those in need, and has a pet tiger. This series put Jasmine over in a big way.
I loved the series!!! It gave Aladdin & Jasmine a long engagement, proved their love for one another, introduced some wonderful new characters and villains! I just loved it ^_^
That's true :) They don't just get married right away and properly get to know each other which is nice. Characters that popped up that I loved were mozenrath and sadira :) I also loved Arbitus, this green plant man that kidnapped jasmine to get back at the sultan. They end up having an understanding 'cos he's misunderstood :)
One of my favorite episodes was when Mozenrath had that beast that attacked magic and Aladdin threatened to unleash it against him and Mozenrath was all "You're not that ruthless." Aladdin replied "You're right. I'm not. But he is!" and points to Iago who was ready to let the beast off his leash.
One of my absolute fave moments is in The Wind Jackal of Mozenrath. Aladdin (talking about Mozenrath): Maybe he needs a girlfriend or something. Iago: I think he’s... married to his work. Mozenrath: It’s so true! I love it!
@@viatoretvenus I remember the episode but not that particular scene. The main one I remember is when Jasmine has Iago impersonate Mozenrath to send the Wind jackal away.
Are we not going to talk about the crossover with Hercules? . . . Alright Edit: because people have been asking I’m adding a link to the episode for you guys to watch, enjoy! th-cam.com/play/PL2k-WvCXl5cNeSwWErQ3QYSNfeEnVCz76.html
Aladdin seemed to cycle between living on the streets and living in the palace. The TV show seemed to frame it as him choosing to usually stay in his old house but have the option to live in the palace when he felt like it.
🤔 That's the way I saw it. I read a fanfic that actually had Jasmine question him why he didn't live at the Palace despite the fact they weren't married. Aladdin told her he had his own place, and if she was marrying a prince, he wouldn't move in until after the wedding. Which makes sense. In many fanfictions Aladdin rarely used his guest room at the Palace, he officially moved in once they were married but he would retreat to his old home once in a while, depending on the circumstances.
9:43 Oh my God, that LAUGH!! 😂 That flawless transition into Aladdin's name is GOLD. 🖤 Mozenrath is the number one villain from this TV series that I remembered aside from Abis Mal, not to mention my first animated series crush. ☺
I remember having a Facebook comment forum conversation with some other fans of the show and brainfarting on Mozenrath's name. All I said was the Sesshu-maru of the Aladdin-verse and they knew who I was talking about! 😂 Glad to see other people remember him.
@@JonathanMCook lol Inuyasha reference. Also, somehow, Mozenrath is one of the few villains I remember the name of, probably bc Jonathan Brandis did the voice acting. I had a crush on him for years (long live SeaQuest DSV). I was so upset when I heard about his death. :(
Instead of the tacky and shameless cash grabs that are the live action remakes, Disney should focus on adapting their theatrical films into animates series. Sacrifice a bit of the animation budget, focus on the stories, and you've got a great chance to further develop these beloved characters. The Tangles series and Big Hero 6 are great, but those are the only ones they've done. I'd have loved to see Moana on her voyager journeys, experience Zootopia PD, or catch up with the trials and tribulations of The Incredibles.
Concur. On a sidenote, I was pleasantly surprised how the Tangled series turned out. On the outside, I was seriously "awe hell no", this looks way too Barbie girly-girl but then looks can be deceiving. (Cassandra FTW!). I like the show WAYYY better than I did the movie but that's another discussion.
@Pareidolia I see what you're saying, but I wouldn't go that far. Yes, the 90s shows based of Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Tarzan, and Hercules were capitalizing off the success of their theatrical movies, but I wouldn't call those a cash grab as much as a natural progression of merchandising. They weren't the same quality as their sources (Disney Toon Studios was a TV studio with a TV budget after all), but they had elements of originality in their stories and provided more chances for character development for their subjects. Conversely, I see the new live-action remakes a shameless cash grab because in my mind there's nothing "natural" about remaking the same movie but this time without the innovative and artful animation. It's unoriginal, the new films don't depart from their Disney sources enough to be considered new adaptations, and the whole practice is just blatantly mining nostalgia for the sake of easy money. That's what I meant.
"Tangled" and "Big Hero 6" are enough for now. We don't need to see them overdo it with every recent animated franchise, or the quality will slip greatly like it did with the 90's direct-to-video sequels. Meanwhile, they need to keep going with these great live action remakes. They may be cash grabs, but they're not tacky or shameless at all (except for "Maleficent")!
Mozenrath was voiced by Jonathan Brandis. He hanged himself at his apartment back in 2003. He was another tragic child actor who succumbed to a troubled adulthood.
Speaking of dark episodes: The Lost Ones. Missing children, Aladdin triggered by it and going into his childhood about the disappearance of a friend, mystical child trafficking, mystical gang recruitment and its dehumanizing effects, and Mirage letting her small army of monsters made up of trafficked children expire just to spite Aladdin. And the Mukhtar, good God, the Mukhtar!
Oh man "The Lost Ones" is one of my favorite episodes and it had some of the best animation of the entire series to boot! Mirage telling Amal to crush Aladdin's spine was chilling.
My favorite episode was the one where Mirage sold Jasmine a lotion that turned her into a snake woman. The rest of the episode Aladdin and company went on a quest to find the tree of renewal. The journey proved that Aladdin's love for Jasmine was true. He even turned himself into a snake to be with her!
@@Alex_Off-Beat Mulan's amazing. But, the kind of things she's done in her two films are similar to what Jasmine's frequently done throughout Aladdin's trilogy and TV series. Mulan's accomplishments are incredible, and what her and Jasmine both have to their names aren't to be taken lightly, but Mulan's accomplishments are Jasmine's status quo by comparison.
I love Mulan, don't get me wrong, but Jasmine really is amazing in this series and sadly underrated because not everybody knows or has seen the aladdin series and it's where jasmine really comes into her own :)
Mozenrath and Mirage are easily my top 2 favorite villains from the series and I was mad when they dropped that bombshell about Mirage's past and never got to follow up on it. Sadira is a close third lol
Sadira wasn't as evil as the other villians. She was mainly scheming to get Aladdin all to herself. By her third appearance she realized that Aladdin would never be hers and she reformed into a good person. In fact she, Aladdin, and Princess Jasmine became friends.
Being part of the Aladdin fandom for the last 20 years and loving the movie since it first came out when I was 8, I ADORED this series and still do. It made Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship so much more realistic, and it's a CRIME that it's never been released on DVD/Blu-ray. I miss the days of animated serials having a single 20 minute episode instead of the fragmented attention span-coddling stuff that plagues cartoons now. The plots of a lot of the darker episodes didn't talk down to kids, and that's part of what made it great. It's too bad you didn't mention "The Lost Ones" in this because imo it had probably the best animation on the entire series on top of being an amazing plotline. Return of Jafar was originally supposed to be the first four episodes of the series, but Disney decided to experiment by releasing them as the FIRST direct to video sequel which was wildly successful and sold more copies than Pretty Woman. Did you ever see the crossover episode of Hercules, "Hercules and the Arabian Night"? It takes place after King of Thieves and Aladdin is actually an older hero for Hercules to look up to. Phil also tries to hit on Jasmine but she holds up her left hand and deadpans "I'm married." to which Phil says "Oh... sorry, ma'am!". The plot is Jafar turns up in the underworld and hatches a plot with Hades to get revenge on Aladdin in addition to Hades' goals, and Hercules and Icarus work with Aladdin and Jasmine to fight back. It's a great episode! I would KILL to read that original King of Thieves script of Mozenwrath being Aladdin's half brother, but the movie we got was amazing all the same. I always loved the fact that you actually see Aladdin ANGRY and dealing with really deep issues. It added so much depth to his character, especially the confrontation in canyon telling his father "You walked out on your family!", throwing the dagger at his feet with "I won't walk out on Jasmine!" and "I'm your son, but I can't live your life." That always stuck with me, along with Cassim's "You don't know what it's like, to stare up at the palace and know you deserve more; to be called street rat" and Aladdin's quiet "Yes... I do." in return. There was just SO MUCH there behind that answer. I do wish they wouldn't have edited out the blood, though. The trailers showed a big blood splotch on Aladdin's sleeve from Sa'luk, but it's gone in the actual movie. It was really something to see Aladdin actually get HURT, showing he wasn't invincible just like the two episodes of the series when he bruised some ribs and broke his arm. Also, fun fact: when Aladdin and Jasmine are walking back down the aisle at the end of the movie, it's lined with all the friends they made throughout the series from Sadira and Brawnhilda all the way down to King Mamoud. It took years for me to notice that! I always thought it might be a case of pride on Aladdin's part that he didn't live in the palace and only slept there when it's exceptionally cold at night... not wanting charity or to seem like he was mooching. And who knows, after being completely free for most of his life, maybe he had to get used to the confines of the palace. I imagine he might have been pretty uncomfortable there at first, kind of like in that old-ish movie "Castaway" when Tom Hanks finally gets rescued and the first night in a bed in five years he actually moves to the floor because it's how he's used to sleeping by then. Can you tell I've been a hardcore fan of this franchise for most of my life? lol
I used to watch this as a kid. Mosenwrath is the only villain I remember, particularly one episode where he sends Aladdin into this tower inhabited by this creature that eats magic, making it a serious threat against Genie and Carpet. I also remember another episode where Iago and Abu end up in an alternate timeline where they never existed.
"The actor who played Mozenrath" was Jonathan Brandis, a.k.a. Bill Denbrough, Bastian Balthazar Bux, and Lucas from seaQuest. And my sister's first crush.
I loved how the final scene of the 3rd film makes the opening cartoon narrator as part of the movie story line by flying over him while he's telling the story. And not just a throwaway character.
Technically, the peddler is supposed to be Genie in disguise (notice the four fingers on each hand). Yeah, Genie himself was also in that closing scene, but he's always been able to split himself into multiple parts, ironically even doing so at that very moment with the bouquet gag.
I think Tangled The Animated series is a spiritual successor to this series. It really has the main couple's relationship expanded on, while side characters are given more depth and new ones are introduced. There is also very memorable villains.
I totally agree Tangled the Series is a total equal to Aladdin the Series and just like with Aladdin and Jasmine Tangled the Series is building up Eugene and Rapunzel's relationship too and they are having conflicts and obstacles as well that they have to overcome. The perfect example Eugen's ex-Fiance Staylan.
Ehhhh, I agree and disagree. Spiritual successor, sure, as it expands so many things on the Sundrop Flower lore and the Moon Stone, and the new characters like Cassandra or Varian are interesting, but in terms of villains ? Ehhh I found it lacking, and I don't think Varian's fall was handled really well as it was done too late and too shortly, and being a slow burner, there were also too many filler episodes that didn't even set up a Chekov's gun for later. It has great production values, but some things are kinda sloppily done.
@@TheDen-ec9xe What are you talking about?! There are several good to great villains, Varian's fall was done over the course of several different episodes (and starting as soon as just his third appearance), and even most of the more filler-like episodes either contribute nicely to character development or have a payoff somewhere down the line.
Yeah I would like to see that no one talks about these shows but should, maybe when the streaming service comes out more people start paying attention to it again.
You forgot to mention about the chick that fell for Aladdin and made a spell to sway Aladdin away from Jasmine. But it didn’t work on the animals. But I loved this series
Yes :) her character was cool 'cos she started out as a baddie but ended up having a heart and becoming friends with aladdin and jasmine. I think it speaks volumes for jasmine that she ended up trusting sadira and giving her another chance. I think she's the first to do it with Iago as well.
This video captures exactly why Aladdin and Jasmine are my favorite Disney couple. They're the only ones that go through a real relationship. They fell for each other, they fought, reconciled, got to know one another better, learned to be honest and communicate, and then after a lengthy relationship period finally got married. Jasmine also had a ton of personality beyond standard Disney princess
The aladdin tv series was one of the best shows ever when Toon disney existed. I really miss those times when disney really cared so much about animation. I even loved the bad guys, my favorite was mirage the Egyptian cat woman. While my least favorite was... Sadira. Yes i know many people love her but i always disliked her so much. She was so obsessed with aladdin and tries so much to get him. Like in the end of the first episode, when aladdin CLEARLY told her that he loves jasmine, she still tries to force him to love her in the other three episodes she appeared in! Like i couldn't stand her. At least she finally stopped being obsessed and accepts aladdin being with jasmine in the end of the 4th ep she appeared.
I know I didn't like Saderia much either. At least she gave up on Aladdin eventually and accepted his and Jasmine's relationship. My favorite villains were Mirage and Mosenrath and I loved that mysterious blind guy too. Mozenrath, Mirage and Malcho were the ultimate examples of bad guys. I think Abis Mal Amind DA Mullah, and Mechanicalize I believe were comedic villains and I think that Chaos was more of a neutral character.
Aladdin was on during the decade that Disney had shows worth a damn, like Gargoyles, Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Talespin, so on. The 90's were the highlight for cartoons, then spongebob and Hannah Montana happened and the quality went down to naught.
I'm actually kinda surprised you didn't mention anything about the crossover episode of the Hercules cartoon, which took place after King of Thieves and brought back Jafar.
@@GBmovieluv if I remember correctly, during the episode Phil tried hitting on her and she snapped back saying she's married. It's probably gone by now, but I did actually find the episode here on TH-cam a few years ago.
I know, she was a sweetie. I loved how she was magically bound to that little girl at the end of the episode though. I remember even as a kid, I thought that was cute :) To memory as well, she hints that her and the genie could reunite and be together down the track :)
I remember the old Disney series back in the 90's when I was a kid, yes I do enjoyed these series like The Gummie Bears, Tales Spin, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, The Wuzzles,Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin , Hercules, Timon and Pumba, Gargoyles, House of Mouse, American Dragon Jake Long, Kim Possible and especially Mighty Duck. It's a shame 😔they're not on TV anymore but at least they're on Complete DVD collections to keep the memories alive. But I still wished that The Wuzzles , The Little Mermaid, Aladdin , Hercules, Timon and Pumba, Gargoyles, Might Ducks, House of Mouse, American Dragon Jake Long and Kim Possible were finally on complete DVD collection at last as they're the only ones that weren't on Complete DVD released🤞. I know some people say you can watch the old series on Disney+, but I don't have one and to be honest I prefer on complete DVD like Gummie Bears, Duck Tales, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers and Dark Wing Duck.
This was... and is one of my favorite series ever. First thing after school was watching it. It had some amazing stories, terrific characters and tons of adventures. And of course, who can forget the villains? Mozenrath and Mirage were my absolute favorites. Even one time villains like Arbutus were fantastic! We even got to see some of the character's backstories, particularly Aladdin. And let's not forget every character had a time to shine, even carpet and the sultan. Plus Iago and Genie were too funny with their antics. Absolutely one of the best Disney series! 😄
I love Aladdin. He was my first Disney animated crush and I have adored Jasmine and been my favorite princess since I was about 4 or 5. I wish I was born a year later to be born the same year Aladdin came out. I'm Aladdin/Jasmine obsessed lol. Also it seemed that Aladdin didn't want to rush into marriage. I think he was nervous. There was an episode where the Sultan was like "Is that an engagement present eyyyyy?😉" and Jasmine laughed and said no while Aladdin looked nervous. And yusssss we see how much Jasmine doesn't want to be just a pampered princess. She wants to do what is right for and by her people. She goes on many adventures to save Agrabah. She was so badass that the Galifems captured her to recruit her. Sultan even gets out of the palace to help save her. I mean there is so many reasons to love Aladdin, the character, the movies and the series... which is why I'm so obsessed hahaha. Not to mention growing up Hispanic kid Jasmine and Pocahontas were the closest ones to look like us and represent us look wise. I'm just glad that I chose her as a kid and later kept choosing her for her culture, personality and all of the above as a character. Very underrated.
Mechanicles! That's the guy in that one episode i remember very fondly! He built a giant flame-spewing centipede that could melt the desert sand into glass! Which, coincidentally, is where i learned how glass was made.
I remember. I used to watch it regularly. Jonathan Brandis (RIP) did the voice of Mozenrath, one of the villains. I had no idea the third movie was supposed to involve Mozenrath.
Croatian TV Nova is re-airing the series right now. Trust me, image quality and color look a lot better when you're not watching ages old toon disney rips.
Mozenwrath was one of my favorite villains becuase you could argue a lot of his typical villain reactions, such as not being able to understand Aladdin doing something for others, really just show how fucked up his master was. Also the episode where one of Aladdin's childhood friends comes back as basically a zombie only to discover doing good deeds gets him his humanity back, could have been a cool and dark spin off.
The theme song was verses of the song the movie never got to. And the original intended ending that they should've done with "King of Thieves" when it wasn't done with "Aladdin" was show that the singer of 'Arabian Nights' was really the Genie.
I was 10-12 years old when I watched the Aladdin TV series... I loved this series so much!! For years I have been moaning online for all 86 episodes to be released onto DVD or even Blu-Ray... but I guess that will never happen? I’m hoping it will be released on Disney + in the near future All the villains including Mozenrath, Abis Mal and Mechanicles were my favourites of all time :) i used to act like a villain when I was a kid XD LOL
The tv series was fantastic! There were tons of amazing characters, actors, villains and cultures explored! I loved his crossover into the Hercules series! Wish this Damn series got a DVD collection already!!!
As a young kid of Middle Eastern heritage (in an all white school), Aladdin was the only character who looked like me growing up. Like there was ZERO representation growing up; aside from Aladdin. & after 9/11 any representation of anything vaguely Middle Eastern, became depicted exclusively as malicious. Aladdin wasn't perfect but it was nice.... Thanks for the nostalgia.
I would say that the show very much still holds up. I also found it very interesting seeing Jafar show up for an episode of Disney's Hercules: The Animated Series to team up with Hades cause it was a good chance for Aladdin to show off some of that good old fashioned ingenuity that led to Jafar's defeat in the first place, & it didn't disappoint. When talking about Aladdin characters Jafar was always a personal fav since I am very partial to the villains in the first place, & it was Amazing watching Herc & Al pull the ol switcheroo in order to turn their weaknesses into strengths. I Loved it
I got way too excited to see this video pop up on my recommended... I loved this show so much, also the Hercules TV show they did which had that one cross over episode...
I did but I don't know why the mysterious blind guy and Fatima and Mineo's weren't there, I mean come on Aladdin and Jasmine are the reason they got together and the mysterious blind guy was a mentor-like character and guide for the gang.
I had completely forgot they had a series. A literal blast from the past. Can't wait to see what's next at NerdWire. And guys if you haven't yet, check out there patreon, also like and share the vids 👍😁
Speaking of the third movie, did you know that Disney originally cast *_Sean freaking Connery_* to voice Cassim? Unfortunately, he had to drop out due to other commitments, but still, John Rhys-Davies did an amazing job!
Couldn't agree with you more about this show -- along with the Little Mermaid TV series, Aladdin was my favorite nostalgic TV show, and I totally think it still holds up. Its rogue gallery is just so unbelievably diverse and creative that even the characters that only appear in one episode make such an impact. Along with the ones you mentioned like Mirage, Abis Mal, Chaos, Mechanicles and of course Mozenrath, I loved Saleen the evil water elemental, Sadira the sand sorceress, and (although he's more of a sympathetic obstacle than a villain) Arbutus from Garden of Evil. It truly felt like Aladdin's TV universe was as expansive as 1001 Arabian Nights, thanks to the many different challenges and enemies Aladdin and crew had to face. It may have its issues here and there, like animation errors or continuity discrepancies, but I think it still was a really well-done show. Thanks for delving into it! xoxo
Yes I do! Anyone else remember the “Abu Origins” episode? How he was originally owned by the creepy little bald guy who was teamed up with the huge burly guy and the blonde chick (literally) who ended up becoming a fire demon, human-ox and harpy respectively? Thanks for the nostalgia NerdWire 💙=^_^=💙 Edit: realised I wrote “happy” instead of “harpy” d’oh! 😅😅😅
Good call. The episode which explained Abu's back story eas a two parter called Seems Like Old Crimes. The little little bald guy was Aziz, the big burly guy was Minos, and the blonde chick was Fatima.
I saw the show years before I ever saw the movie. I never had an issue with the voice of Genie, because I loved the cartoon voice before I heard Robin Williams' version. I still love that show. Side note. Remember in the first film, when Al wished to be a prince? I wonder if the wish in any way turned his dad into the King of Thieves.
Hercules and The Little Mermaid... The Disney channel _did_ at one point, have some good shows! Mirage and Mozenrath were always my favorite villains Saleen was also amazing!
i always loved aladdin the animated series, though having mozinwrath as aladdin's secret brother that would have been an amazing twist wish they could have done that in the third film. i still like the king of thieves idea but this idea would have been good too, so sad he killed himself i mean truly sad. may he rest in peace. excellent video
That would've been an excellent twist. I always thought that Aladdin and Mozenrath looked similar. I did like the twist in the third movie where we learn a bit more of Aladdin's past. Who would've thought that his father was the king of thieves?
I remember watching this show when I was a little girl, and I liked it so much! Aladdin is definitely my favorite Disney movie and I love all the sequel, even if the animation isn't the best but there is a difference of budget and time between the first one made for movie theatres, and the others made for home video or television, you can't have the same quality but the stories are still good and that's not so granted in sequels or series. So, in my opinion, they aren't perfect but they are still good enough to be my favourite of all times! (Ps. I love TH-cam in this moment, there is Aladdin anywhere!)
This series better come out on Disney + soon... I’ve been waiting for almost 30 years for all episodes to be released on DVD/Blu-Ray but I don’t see that happening :’( plus they would need to remaster all the episodes... but I would gladly pay to buy all episodes on Blu-Ray (HD)
According to TV Tropes, they never said that they planned to make Mozenrath's Aladdin's brother. That was only ever fan speculation based on the idea of possibly making Mozenrath the villain of the third movie (which was true) and his resemblance to Al.
I loved the Aladdin TV series. It was a favorite of mine growing up, and the adventures and humor hold up really well. That's in part thanks to the great voice cast and likable characters, and the cool world in which the adventures took place. Thanks for this great video.
I used to watch this show (and the two sequels) as a kid in the 90s along with most of the other Disney Afternoon cartoons. I personally still recall some of the other prominent characters of this show like Abis Mal, Harold, the female genie, and Mozenrath (he obviously stuck for me as a kid). The original plan to make Mozenrath his brother in the King of Thieves would've blew my mind! The series' animation was also a product of its time for Disney 90s cartoons and it kind of shown its age a bit (but at least the designs were original).
Okay Kris, now you just need to document all the appearances of Aladdin in the House of Mouse show and we'll give you the achievement for Aladdin deep-lore mastery
What about the episode where a mermaid tries to steal Aladdin by trapping Jasmine in the ocean and gives herself legs, not expecting Aladdin to trick her back into the ocean, freeing Jasmine and proving his love isn't shallow and swayed by another pretty face?
I like the Aladdin show. But I do aknowledge when the writting is all over the place. Sometimes Genie can just fix everything and in others he is usless or goofs around so much he is out of the battle. And yes sometimes they act like you can still get a wish from Genie if you steal the lamp. One time it is just Abismal who dose´t know. Oh and I LOVE Hamud. He is a great character. I like the colorful villians, really charming like Darkwing Ducks villians. I whould have loved to see where the Mozenrath brother angel whould have gone. I give Aladdin tv-show the rating of A Diamond in the rought XD
I think you hit the nail right on the head. The animation is definitely rough, but the character development and awesome new characters make it so worth a watch, especially when you get to watch King of Thieves at the end
I loved this series as a kid. I rewatched it not too long ago and I may rewatch it again. P.S.: I have always thought the real reason Genie comes back to Aladdin to help him out is because he felt guilty for stealing that second wish from Al and never actually granting it. So this series made up for that second wish that Aladdin never got to make. I don't get why people never think about that. I mean it's so obvious in the movie. Abis Mal is a character I think the Disney animators created just simply to make fun of their animation style. Look at his name.
This show was amazing! Such a great representation that the adventure doesn’t end with HEA. And Jasmine and Aladdin are so sweetly committed to each other, despite their arguments. And the villains! Omg, awesome! And Jasmine being such a girly girl and a bad*ss at the same time. Aladdin once is kidnapped, and he tells Mo, “You shouldn’t have made Jasmine angry.”
I had somehow completely forgot about this show. Though somehow the SNAKE episode where they're transformed into snakes was somewhere deep in the back of my brain????? Thanks for the hint of nostalgia!

Or about sadira
@@CJ2uff Sadira the sandwitch!
Same here. She kicks Mozenrath's ass, punches out a guy for messing up her wedding, sacrifices herself to save the life of a child, cares and goes well out of her way to help those in need, and has a pet tiger. This series put Jasmine over in a big way.
@Wazowski Fun fact: There's a reason Aurora was written that way. Sleeping Beauty is actually an allegory to the Bible.

They should have, but that was an episode of Hercules, and it happened after Aladdin was married.
RIGHT!? And the villian team up? EPIC!
Bro what?? I don’t remember that!
I liked the plan of both Hades and Jafar kidnapping Abu and Icarus just to pit Aladdin and Hercules against each other. Greatly written crossover
That's the only reason I watched this. lol. the crossover was epic
Iago saying "Adopt me daddio" might be the best thing I've ever heard.
I actually laughed outloud.
Aladdin seemed to cycle between living on the streets and living in the palace. The TV show seemed to frame it as him choosing to usually stay in his old house but have the option to live in the palace when he felt like it.
Yeah, besides, he was never actually homeless. It was a mess and mostly barren, but it still counted as his house.
I remember having a crush on mozenrath lol especially when I found out Jonathan Brandis did the voice ❤️

I thoroughly enjoyed the Aladdin cash grab. Besides, Disney would be stupid to leave money on the table.
I remember how the monster was always in the opening theme and I was waiting for the episode to feature it AND THEN IT'S THE LOST ONES.
"This is a kid's show. You know, FOR KIDS," said the animator looking disbelievingly at the script-writers.
Jasmine was fearless. What a badass
she's the most badass of all princesses
@@SasukeUchiha723 No way! Mulan was by far the most badass princess, Jasmine is most likely second tho
@@Alex_Off-Beat Despite what the merchandise claims, Mulan was never actually a princess.
@@melissacooper4482 I know, that's why I liked her, and that's why she's third on the list lol

I saw it too! I loved it as well since I'm a Pokemon fanatic.
Disney needs to put this on Disney+ asap. This and The Legend of Tarzan. Anybody remember that show?
Can you tell I've been a hardcore fan of this franchise for most of my life? lol
Glad to see the fan this series deserves! Love everything about it!
Mozenrath: *Reality can be what ever I want (holds a very familiar gauntlet)*
Johnathan Brandis, so sad what he was going through. I had a huge crush on him when I was younger.
Aladdin had the infinity gauntlet before Thanos did lol
The lyrics to the opening song were written by original lyricist Howard Ashman, from a bunch of sets of lyrics he had for it.
Can you do the Timon and Pumbaa when the live action Lion King comes out
omg forgot about it, I'm bout to head on a nostalgia black hole
"You'll never- I'll never leave you" excuse me I'm gonna go cry now that's beautiful.
@@TheDen-ec9xeI I think Zhan Tiri is the main villain I bet there's going to be more focus on him in season 3.
@@hannahskeldon7944 Meh, I guess....
@@TheDen-ec9xe What are you talking about?! That chick was Sadira.

Yes :) her character was cool 'cos she started out as a baddie but ended up having a heart and becoming friends with aladdin and jasmine. I think it speaks volumes for jasmine that she ended up trusting sadira and giving her another chance. I think she's the first to do it with Iago as well.
The creature that Jasmine turns into is called a Naga
They're actually interesting monsters from Indian folklore
They are half snakes
This video captures exactly why Aladdin and Jasmine are my favorite Disney couple. They're the only ones that go through a real relationship. They fell for each other, they fought, reconciled, got to know one another better, learned to be honest and communicate, and then after a lengthy relationship period finally got married. Jasmine also had a ton of personality beyond standard Disney princess
What about Rapunzel and Eugene?
Or Belle and Beast?
Absolutely shocked that you didn't remember Mozenrath as a child - he was EVERYTHING when I watched it as a kid!

This was... and is one of my favorite series ever.
That episode also featured the character with the best punny name of all: the corrupt merchant Daru Tavaleevil! Think about it. ;)
I remember laughing so hard at Mechanicles during that episode. ... Honestly, still do. XD
I remember. I used to watch it regularly. Jonathan Brandis (RIP) did the voice of Mozenrath, one of the villains. I had no idea the third movie was supposed to involve Mozenrath.
The animation hasn't aged poorly; It was always not so hot. I've always loved the show, though.
The Animation is fine. It's excellent by tv animation standards. It just needs an HD remaster. Also the colors are slightly off.
@@icecreamhero2375 I agree.
I loved his dialogues especially
That moment when Disney sues Marvel for stealing the infinity gauntlet but remember they own Marvel

The theme song was verses of the song the movie never got to. And the original intended ending that they should've done with "King of Thieves" when it wasn't done with "Aladdin" was show that the singer of 'Arabian Nights' was really the Genie.

As a young kid of Middle Eastern heritage (in an all white school), Aladdin was the only character who looked like me growing up.

Jackie McCann whoa!!!! That’s a crazy factoid!!!

Mirage and Mozenrath were always my favorite villains Saleen was also amazing!
Yes I loved all those villains and saleen made me laugh. She was such a brat :)
i always loved aladdin the animated series, though having mozinwrath as aladdin's secret brother that would have been an amazing twist wish they could have done that in the third film. i still like the king of thieves idea but this idea would have been good too, so sad he killed himself i mean truly sad. may he rest in peace. excellent video
That would've been an excellent twist. I always thought that Aladdin and Mozenrath looked similar. I did like the twist in the third movie where we learn a bit more of Aladdin's past. Who would've thought that his father was the king of thieves?
You mean like finding out that Eugene was the prince of a fallen Kingdom? Which will make their marriage acceptable by nobles and councilmen.
Exactly!
I 💘 Aladdin tv series, it's one of my favorite tv shows of the '90s
How could you forget Sadira? She was a great antagonist.
*You remember the time Aladdin had Time, Soul, and Reality?*
So much nostalgia, I can't believe the infinity gauntlet was in the Aladdin series
According to TV Tropes, they never said that they planned to make Mozenrath's Aladdin's brother. That was only ever fan speculation based on the idea of possibly making Mozenrath the villain of the third movie (which was true) and his resemblance to Al.
I loved it , Sadira and Mirage were epic .
I loved the Aladdin TV series. It was a favorite of mine growing up, and the adventures and humor hold up really well. That's in part thanks to the great voice cast and likable characters, and the cool world in which the adventures took place. Thanks for this great video.
I loved this show as a kid. Gosh, I miss the 90s shows
I used to watch this show (and the two sequels) as a kid in the 90s along with most of the other Disney Afternoon cartoons.
One of the greatest shows and with good writing
Along with Gargoyles.. probably 2 of my fave cartoons of those times, along with Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures.
😂3:44 "it's that fuckin caste system man" .. sometimes TH-cam suggest gold. Good on yall
C B 😜
Okay Kris, now you just need to document all the appearances of Aladdin in the House of Mouse show and we'll give you the achievement for Aladdin deep-lore mastery
What about the episode where a mermaid tries to steal Aladdin by trapping Jasmine in the ocean and gives herself legs, not expecting Aladdin to trick her back into the ocean, freeing Jasmine and proving his love isn't shallow and swayed by another pretty face?
My nickname is Princess Jasmine because I look like her! I'm going to the movies in my new Jasmine costume
cool
14:17 forgetting Aladdin 4: Jafar may need glasses
Just enjoy. Don't think.
How did you watch it?
@@xtracritical ,
Third-party streaming sites. (It might be available on Disney+ too, idk I don't have Disney+.)
Holy crap did Mozenrath inspire Kylo Ren, they look the SAME and they even have the same number of syllables in their names.... freaky
No. It's freaky that you counted the number of syllables.
I had somehow completely forgot about this show. Though somehow the SNAKE episode where they're transformed into snakes was somewhere deep in the back of my brain????? Thanks for the hint of nostalgia!
