His voice couldn't get any smoother! - I've never heard of this before, had no idea that El Paso was part of a trilogy! It will be interesting to listen to the 3rd part.
I'm with you, Sue .. As a fan of "El Paso", it was good to hear this song, and to learn more of the story .. But as a piece of music, although well sung by Marty, it was a bit one-dimensional .. It's pretty much the same verse structure and melody repeated many times with different lyrics, and goes on for quite a while .. But of course, I will await and join you for Part 3 when you hit it.😊
@wayne_twentyfive We agree once again, my friend. It was really a story with a bit of music behind it and I found the story interesting and wanted to know what happened but El Paso is a song that tells a story and is catchy but I still look forward to part 3. I have to find out what happens 🥰♥️
Unlike El Paso, this a first listen for me and like El Paso I love the guitars, especially the lead. For me there something special about acoustic guitar played in a country folk style. For me, I'd need to have the lyrics in front of me to fully understand the story. Generally with new songs, it's the musical instrumentation that grabs my attention and keeps me interested throughout a song. Lyrics only come into play when I've heard the song numerous time or I want to know what the song's about (story telling). Listening to both song, you can hear the rhythmic cadence and phasing is repetitive and for the most part there's no movement in both songs. That sounds boring without the lyrics but what makes the song interesting to my ears is the guitars, specifically the lead guitar. The lead guitar gives the song movement and imo is what helps keep the listener engaged.
@JeromeDukes Hey Jason, I think it is true for nant of us that we are first attracted to a song by the music and in some cases for me, I can't always catch all the lyrics on the first listen especially if the song is really fast. In this case, I found the lyrics were front and centre and Marty sings so beautifully and clear that They popped out for me. I am very interested in where the 3rd part will take us 🤗
@@playitagainsue At some point I will have to sit and follow both songs with the lyrics, to truly appreciate the songs. I'll be looking forward to the 3rd upload of the trilogy. Speaking of trilogy, Rush also has a trilogy called "The Fear Series" The songs were released in reverse order. Part 3 - Witch Hunt, Part 2 - The Weapon and Part 1 - The Enemy Within. Lyrically and musically it's a fantastic series. Rush later in their discography release a part 4 called Freeze but imo the song was an after thought and not planned.
@@playitagainsue I'm a huge Rush fan as you well may know. Imo they are the greatest band ever. Rush has somewhere around 150 songs in their discography. Imo half of their songs are bangers, or pretty darn close. Rush is known as a prog band and maybe that's the reason they hardly received radio play. I could name at least 20 songs that should've been radio hits but for whatever reason didn't get airtime. My favorite songs of Rush are their long song and instrumentals and this is a big reason they didn't get radio play. When I was talking about finding gems, Rush's discography is chalk full of em. Also they are legacy band (as you well may know) that have huge followings. Rush, Zeppelin and Floyd are such bands. Depending on what your focus is in growing your channel, targeting rabid fan bases of legacy bands should be part of he equation.
@JeromeDukes Awesome! Yes Rush is a great band that is widely influencial...many artists have said they are huge Rush fans. That us when you know a band is legendary when other bands and artists praise them. Pink Floyd is really hard to get videos through. I have only gotten one through 🤩
