  • Kevin put in electric fans on a timer to keep condensation from raining down on everything in our barn. We have a dirt floor and live in a wet area, so we had to do something.
    It has been wonderful all summer to have them in and running, especially when we have animals in there.

      @bencrawford8219 your welcome. It worked well for us. Someone said- put in J channel (trim?) before putting in the fan for finishing. We missed that part.

    *Works amazingly **Fastly.Cool** . I love all the features and the double expansion. For once a fan is almost as tall as my window. Updated but not overly fancy.*

    Our barn setup is so bad. The building is from the mid 1800's and it's been cobbled back together repeatedly over the years. 🤦
    You're setup is very nice!

    Do you run the fan during night time as well?

    • @largefamilyruralliving7434
      @largefamilyruralliving7434  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @karancariappa1422 we programmed it to run during the hours of greatest temp change dawn and dusk for the longest, a few times in between if needed because we lived in a marshy area.

    do you have some type of heater in the barn during winter? my metal building is same way as yours, not insulated but im getting condensation. im looking at install fans also, so thanks for this video to verify it works.

      No heater, it has worked really well, also helps get fumes out fast from painting furniture in there. Our wood stalls and hay have been fine so far, it would've molded without the fans I think. Hope it works the same for you. We are in a really marshy area here.

      Both fan are blowing out right? Or ones pulling in and other out to help circulate? How often is your timer set to run them?

    Do those pull air in or push air out of the barn? Thanks.

    • @largefamilyruralliving7434
      @largefamilyruralliving7434  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pushing air out, so it can suck in fresh air from under the doors and through the vents.

    Did you ever get this trimmed up? I have a similar set up and was wondering what to use on the outside.

      Not yet unfortunately, he said he bought aluminum siding trim pieces but hasn't yet installed it.

    I have a 2250 square foot metal building. What CFM fan should I get and which one is the quietest?

    • @largefamilyruralliving7434
      @largefamilyruralliving7434  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We figured out how many cubic feet in the barn and how often we wanted the air to exchange to decide what size. There are charts online and we got our fans from valley vet supply. I thought it was pretty quiet. Not silent, but minimal background noise also it was over 12 ft in the air above us. Some of the other comments have similar information and a link. We upped the cfm # for us because there was a marsh behind the barn.

    Should have installed bubble wrap. I get no condensation at all. But I don’t have animals neither.

    What's the ratio for cubic feet and size of fan?

    One huge problem with your wiring you need to address: It's all exposed. Rats and Mice WILL eventually get up there, especially in the winder and since you have livestock in the farm. You need to have all your wiring inside hard conduit and/or flex conduit because they can't chew through that wire and start a fire

    What size fan?

    • @largefamilyruralliving7434
      @largefamilyruralliving7434  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      See the comment below: @CG4G -for the specific model, we have a 30x40 barn. It all depends on the size of barn/air exchange needed. We got the highest number because live in a wet area. I think the company had a chart or hubby found one online.

    do you have a ridge vent?

    • @largefamilyruralliving7434
      @largefamilyruralliving7434  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but it wasn't enough for our wet area, also we don't have gutters so that would help eliminate some moisture as well.

      A lot of moisture can come from the floor to.. good idea to use plastic before pouring concrete.. ridge cap should work bit needs air to be able to enter
